Still recovering from their adventure into the Middle Realm, Jinx, Tori, and the gang have settled down to enjoy some "normal" time in Briar Hollow. Then Cezar Ionescu walks in the front door asking for a favor. An abandoned house owned by the local Strigoi clan is attracting the attention of the Haunted Briar Hollow web series.
Cezar knows the old place is haunted, but he doesn't know the identity of the ghost or the reason for the presence. Can Jinx gently ask the spirit to move on before Mindy, Nick, and Kyle find something else inflammatory? Remember the spectral baseball game? No one wants more of that kind of trouble.
Tori seizes on the request to suggest a combination slumber party / camping trip with Lucas and Connor in tow. Festus and Rube are onboard, and Rodney is determined not to be left behind. For her part, Jinx is more than ready to get away from her daily mirror calls from Barnaby complaining about the diplomatic firestorm she touched off when she promised the Dark Druid the Agreement segregating the Middle Realm would be lifted.
But as usual, there's more to the abandoned house than anyone imagines. When the group brings home a "helpful" spirit, Jinx finds out more about Fae politics than she wanted to know, and discovers a completely hidden element of her already complicated family history.
Come back to Briar Hollow for To Haunt a Witch, Book 8 in the Jinx Hamilton series!
Juliette Harper is the pen name used by the writing team of Patricia Pauletti and Rana K. Williamson. As a writer, Juliette's goal is to create strong female characters facing interesting, challenging, painful, and at times comical situations. Refusing to be bound by genre, her primary interest lies in telling good stories.
Book 8 of the Jinx Hamilton series. This is a series that has become one of my all-time favorites. Although each book gives a short synopsis of what went on in the previous books, I would heartily advise you read them in order as you will be missing out on a lot if you don't. They are, simply put, amazing. So much wonder, so much adventure, so much magic!!!
The kids from HBH, Haunted Briar Hollow, are dead set on checking out one of the houses, now abandoned, in the Ionescu compound at which has been recorded strange lights and sounds. Cezar asks Jinx for help so a two pronged mission gets underway.
First Darby pretends to be a ghost at Fish Pike's house where the team reside creating a whole new case for HBH to film and focus on. While a secondary team made up of Jinx and Lucas, Tori and Connor with added support from Festus, Rube and Rodney head to the abandoned property to try and persuade the ghost there to back off with the light displays.
Darby's mission is a big success. Jinx and company have a rather more problematic time when Jinx inadvertently lights up a hoodoo candle and invites the "ghost" home without knowing. A mysterious crystal necklace , which is creating the light show, found in the attic is drawing Jinx in and on its arrival in the lair it releases a spirit into her body and mind.. it's another family revelation that will help them understand how everything fits together.
Meanwhile Kelly, Gemma, Brenna and Greer head off on their own covert mission to lay the Strigoi Sisters in peace and Glory left behind decides to experiment on breaking Chesterfields enchantment. As the fatal words "that was easier than I expected" fall from their lips an accident occurs that releases the pair back into the human realm. The sisters convince Brenna that they are going after Chesterfield and promise not to kill any humans but Chesterfield is just one stop on their revenge list.. and there's another big shock when they return to see the results of Glory's experiment.
Jinx finally realises they brought home more than just the necklace and yet another new entity is now living in the lair.
This series just gets better. When I started the first book, my expectations were low. On first perusal, it appeared to be of the "clueless girl inherits a magical store and finds out she's a witch" type of book, light hearted and with the obligatory best friend in tow for all sorts of clueless shenanigans. Instead as the story has progressed we have a full bodied urban fantasy with a well thought out world, well developed characters of all descriptions, and a great and complex story line. In short, it has become one of my favorite series and very near the top at that. It is the best of its kind--complex and magical, dealing with a fight against evil without being dark itself. This particular book moves the basic story along well and introduces some new complications and new characters which relate to the main storyline and help reveal some truths about the past and present.
If you are new to the series, by all means grab book one and begin; the books are not freestanding, but must be read in order. Be sure to get all eight; you will want them. Make yourself comfortable and be sure to bring food because you will be reading for quite awhile. Kick back and enjoy one of the best series to come along in quite a long time. Great work, Ms. Harper!
Jinx and gang have more mysteries and drama than normal. Jinx, her brother, Connor, best friend, Tori, New boyfriend, Lucas, werecat, Festus and talking raccoon, Rube are trying to rid a house of a ghost - which they unexpectedly bring back with them. Glory enlarges herself. The moms, Greed and Brenna rescue and loose the Strigio Sisters because of an accident. So having the first wife of her grandfather entering her body is not surprising.
Lots more adventure and drama for our heroine and her friends. Plus more unexpected surprises in store for them.
I really liked this next book in the series, my only criticism is it ended too, too, soon. Now I will have to wait again to discover what happens next. This plot had a three main lines running through it so a bit more complicated but easily followed. I am really amused by the dialogue that is written. It is perfect all the time. We learn more about Jinx's grand.....parents and clues are laid for the future. I hope the wait is not too long before the next book is out. I read this book through my Amazon Unlimited subscription.
I really like this series and author but something about this book bugs me. I feel like it's only part of a book. There are so many different plotlines happening that there is not really a MAIN plot. I understand it might be building for the next book but it felt more like too much being checked off. I.e. Relationships for everyone, add new character, all old characters show up or discussed, and now a split personality. It's becoming increasingly like a soap opera. Hope next book is simpler.
I can't believe it's almost over (for now...) This story moved much faster than the others. It's not a bad thing, but, that just means the end comes too quickly!
I love that it ends on a cliff hanger!
We all KNOW that good will battle evil, and win, and that love itself conquers all, but it sure is fun to see dark try to immitate, and then control light... Never gonna happen.
These Jinx Hamilton mysteries are just so amazingly well-written. I appreciate the deftness with which past and present are entwined. Surprises abound, but they are logical and thoughtfully placed. The characters and relationships are as charming as ever, even as they evolve and grow. And the reintroduction of past villains adds the perfect edge to events...
Jinx and her best friend Tori along with their band of white magic friends continue to battle the vampire sisters who the Chesterfield Wizard snatched from their hands in last book. Jinx still finds ways to reunite her brother with her family and meets a man that is of interest to her.
I love the humor and the mystery that goes into is series. Some questions/mysteries were solved. I can't wait to read the next book To Test A Witch to find out what happens with Jinx and the rest of the gang! I would definitely recommend this book.
My only dislike is the cliffhangers!! The characters, storylines and world are good enough to keep me reading book after book. The cliffhangers are an annoyance for me. If anything, when I finish this series I probably won't read any other books for fear of bumping into this ploy.
I have loved every book in this series strong characters great storylines and the author weaves such descriptions that I feel like I am there I love it can't wait for the next book
This series is just so much awesome fun!!! Astounding characters, great action and rousing stories . You will laugh, you will cry and everything in between, but always be left feeling good and anxious for the next book.
Started reading jinx Hamilton books last year , and the stories just keep entertained every time. The only problem is that I have to wait until the next book comes out until I get my next fix
So good I want more. This is the eight book in this series and the story keeps me thrilled and enthralled. The characters are fantastic and the supernatural characters are interesting and fun.
This was another winner. I missed book 7 and read book 8 first. This author writs wonderful storylines and great characters. I highly recommend all her books to all who love paranormal characters . Diana Romano
I am enjoying this series so much! Between the puns for laughter, the seriousness of broken relationships to show these characters have heart and the new characters that keep popping up to keep the stories alive...I am hooked!
I loved this book. Jinx and Tori and the rest of the residents of the lair, kept me wondering what they were going to do next. I can hardly wait for the next book in this series!
The way this story is delivered, you could almost believe it to be true. I am impressed with her work. The series is exciting, lighthearted, steadily paced, with great characters and character development. I will continue reading her work with great delight!☺
This series is by far one of my favorites! It is well thought out and doesn't babble the same thing over and over like other series. The characters are well thought out with great visualisation of the entirety. Love it!
The characters are unique and believable. Love the witty repartee. It is both exciting and humorous. Each gets to tell their story and how they intertwine with the others.
This is such a fun and interesting series. Cozy mystery meets supernatural / urban fantasy. I like the characters, their back stories, and how they intertwine with the present.
This book was short, chaotic - the story was all over the place, and ended abruptly - just as it was going somewhere. It felt incomplete. Nonetheless, I will start the next book to see what happens next. But really, I’m guessing it should’ve been combined!!
Once again I enjoyed the book enormously. It is now the 8th book in the series and I'm eager as ever to read more of Jinx's and Tori's adventures and learn more about all things magical.
Just finished book 8, can’t wait to keep going..the books make you not want to stop reading..I will be upset at the end of the series but for now..Back To Reading!!!
