My story is different. Our story, I should say—Jesse and me.We're not a typical couple by any stretch of the imagination. But, by the same token, we were undoubtedly made for each other.I never dreamed things would end up the way they did, though life always has a way of surprising you, doesn't it. I thought Jesse Bishop was completely out of the question. As it turns out, I was wrong.I always wanted to be Jesse's girl, and now I am.

This was a really great story. I was quite concerned about the whole cousin thing, but after that was explained I felt much better about the story. This was a sweet, clean romance and I look forward to the next one.
This is a well-written sweet romance that shows many of the benefits of being part of a close, loving family. I was enthralled from beginning to end. It is the second book of the Bishop Family series and I recommend reading book one, Summer of 65, first. However, it still works well as a stand-alone work. I award four stars simply because I did not feel that indescribable extra zing I expect of five star offerings.
Don't let the fear of love keep you from the person that meant for you our Lord is not a God of fear but love so enjoy these amazing characters and story of love and not fear prevailing.
Absolutely LOVE Brooke St. James books. I havent read a book by her that wasn't a five star rating. I can't wait to read book three in this series! Thank you Brooke!
So after reading the first book in the bishop family series (Summer of 65') I was hooked and couldn't wait to find out what happened next for this Memphis family that I had grew to know & enjoy. Sadly after being all most finished with this book in the series I was no longer hooked nor did I/do I want to know what's next.. For a few different reasons I'll leave unSAID for those that haven't read yet.. Different strokes for different folks so jus because I don't agree with certain situations in this story doesn't mean the next person will feel the same way.. Hate that it turned out to be a disappoint for me because I wanted to continue to know & LOVE the Bishop family.
Jessie’s Girl: Bishop Family book 2 is by Brooke St. James. This book deals with whether or not two young people were first cousins or not. It is very good and easy to read. Jesse Bishop was the son of Michael and Ivy Bishop. His twin sister was Jane. Ivy, Jesse, and Jane all could sing very well. When they were younger, Jesse and Jane would spend their summers singing on tour with their mother. Now, however, they weren’t now. Jesse worked with his Father at Bishop Motorcycles. He was having a problem now when he was with family because he was attracted to his “cousin” Rose. Rose was the daughter of Pastor Jacob Lewis, who was Ivy Bishop’s adopted brother. Reverend Lewis and his wife adopted the little boy who was left on the church’s doorstep even though he was Black and this was during a rough time in Memphis. Ivy and the rest of the family simply accepted him as one of the family and never thought of his color. The Lewis and Bishop family were very close and did lots of things together. Since she was little, Rose had a crush on her “cousin” Jesse, but did everything she could to deny it and to get over it. She knew it was wrong; but technically, they were not related to each other at all, were they?
I want to live this book but I'm torn. I have adopted members of my family and I don't like the idea that they are not "real" members of the family. And I'm squeamish about dating people raised as cousins marrying. In the other hand i do love how prayer and the families relationship with God and his revelation to The righteous family helped them overcome cultural norms and support a union they believed God blessed.
The story line in this was weird. The two main characters are cousins, but through adoption, not by blood. A lot of other reviews had problems with this, and I must admit, as I was reading I felt the story was weird. But, it is definitely worth reading the entire book. St. James is a wonderful author and she did a great job tying God into their story. I don't want to give anything away, but if you start this book make sure to finish it!
I’m so glad it ended the way it did. I love honest-to-goodness love stories, so despite the fact that I had trouble with it at first, this story was right up my alley. I now understood why things happened the way they did. This was very good and I can’t wait to find book 3!
Technically, you can argue that there's no problem because they're not blood relatives. But that was true for Woody Allen and his adopted daughter, too. The problem is that there's still a family relationship there & that's what makes so many of us uncomfortable with the premise of this story. Otherwise I would have liked it pretty well.
A really sweet story about lovers who were born to be together. The kink to the story was they appeared to be cousins. She had forgotten about the baby who had been left on the pardon age's front porch
St. James continues to amaze me. She comes up with an unusual premise ...cousins attracted to each other. Guess you'll just have to read it to understand how it ends happily. 'Nuff said!
I just couldn't get with the subject matter. Even though they aren't related by blood they've been raised as if they were. Generally I'm a big fan of Ms St James, this one missed the mark
This girl has serious issues . She apparently never grew up and learned mature thinking. So far my least favorite of this author's books, but still entertaining.
This book was just creepy! They are cousins! I know they are not biological, but they are still cousins! I finished the book, but couldn't enjoy it because I couldn't get past the cousin thing.
This story was another page turner The storyline and characters were great
My only complaint is there are at least 20 grammar errors/typos, some right after the other that made some sentences hard to follow. Otherwise, excellent. Will be continuing on in the series.
