Someone's importing illegal metals into Las Vegas. Iron, to be specific: the only substance that can instantly kill one of the deadly sidhe. But there are no sidhe in Las Vegas. Not anymore. Dana McIntyre killed the last of them two weeks earlier.

Importing the iron seems to be a matter of life and death, though. Mostly death. People are being slaughtered over these imports, and Dana can't figure out why. It's a puzzle that must be solved quickly and quietly. If the Office of Preternatural Affairs realizes how destabilized Las Vegas has become, they'll shut down vampire hunters like Dana.

She has no choice but to partner with Nissa Royal, the right hand of the city's master vampire, to hunt down the iron's buyer. Nissa's interested in a lot more than a functional partnership from Dana, though. She won't settle for anything less than Dana's soul...

Kill Game (Dana McIntyre Must Die #2) by S.M. Reine is another awesome read with great action, suspense, twists, turns, and vamps. Dana still hasn't drank blood since she was bitten. Her marriage is on the rocks due to this situation. The crazy Nissa is being helpful, or is she? There is someone killing with a special weapon...but who and what. Really a fast and fun read.

Things never go as planned for people like Dana, do they? Getting from point A to point B tends to involve betrayal and backstabbing and truths that might be better left undiscovered. Nah, scratch that last part. Dana's not much for games. Well, wait. She kinda is. But I do think she prefers the bitter truth far more than a sweet lie.

I guess the hard part about Dana is she never seems to take the easy route. Even when she thinks she's doing the right thing, it has a tendency to blow up in her face. She's jaded and cynical, but when she trusts, she trusts hard and fast.

And that's not always a good thing. Especially once you throw in some of the preternaturals she has contact with.

On the other hand, she does have a small group who have her back. Her coworkers at the Hunting Club put up with her abrasive attitude and they've gone out of their way on more than one occasion to pull her back from the brink. Buuuuuut, this being a S.M. Reine series, I trust NO ONE. Anyone can be bought if the price is right and there's always something slithering in the shadows.

To say I might have developed trust issues after these books might be understating things. TRUST NO ONE!

Now, I loved the first book in this series, but this second book just blew me away. I loved it even more than the first one. Dana is back and is determined beyond belief in getting rid of the Paradisos, but she needs to work alongside Nissa, the only other bloodless vampire, in order to work out why iron, which is dangerous to the sidhe, is being brought into Vegas, when there are no sidhe living there.

A few unusual deaths happen, a few close encounters with death happen, Dana and Penny need a mediator and Nissa still acts like the sweet and innocent vampire everyone is warning Dana not to trust. Dana does realise that Nissa is not being completely honest with her, but by then it is a little too late and the consequences for Dana are pretty dire! The ending was gob-smacking to say the least! Rarely am I left speechless, but that cliffhanger did a great job of it?!

The next book can't be released quick enough as I really do NEED to know what happens now!

I did receive a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review and this review is all my own! Thank you to Sara and Angie for asking me to read and review this book.

Did that just happen? Well, of course it did... this is a SM Reine book after all - so why am I so surprised???

If you've been following my reviews of Dana McIntyer Must Die, you know that I wasn't originally a fan of Dana. This isn't the first character that SM Reine has made me like who I originally didn't, but I can honestly say that it's the most surprising. She's obviously growing on me. That's just one of the things in this series that I didn't see coming.

For the record, I also had no intention, after reading Drawing Dead, to have any sympathetic feelings at all toward Nissa. I have to admit, I came close, but for the most part, I was internally screaming at Dana not to let her guard down. Just like Anthony and Lincoln and Brianna. There are times that I wish I could jump into a book and prevent the inevitable - even if I have no clue exactly what the inevitable is.

So, a lot happened in Kill Game. More layers of Nissa were revealed. The schemes of the Las Vegas Vampires became even more complicated. Dana and Penny... so yeah, there was heartbreak, danger, mystery and... there's not much more I can say without giving too much away.

One of the things I've always loved about any of the series in this crazy world created by SM Reine is the interaction between the characters. They're witty, smart and have a LOT of personality. That's not lacking in Dana McIntyer Must Die. I'm kinda falling in love with the banter between Dana, Brianna and Anthony. I also totally didn't see that coming either. When Lincoln and Penny are thrown into the mix, it gets even better. (FYI - Lincoln is one of the only characters in this mix that I actually liked going into the series. I've made no secret of the fact that I want MORE of Lincoln's story since Genesis. ;) )

Again, even though this series can be read as a standalone, I still don't recommend it. Since I've been reading this series since Seasons of the Moon was relatively new, I guess you could consider me just a little partial. It also means that I know what you'll be missing if you skip the background that the rest of the series is built on.

The next book in the series is Cashing Out and after the finale of Kill Game, trust me, it can't come soon enough.

I received Kill Game in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I love Dana! My first born son and this female powerhouse character that we all met long ago in Sara Reine's series. In this case, it is the first character I could personally relate to in size and shape. I'm much older but a part of me thinks I looked like her when I was in my forties. I think I had similar beliefs to hers. I don't know that I hate vampires. But I never saw the craze. Now Ms. Reine has brought me along to expand my imaginary creatures profile.

And Dana isn't a perfect person in any way. She makes mistakes. She has a mindset that needs taming. But she is lovable and loves deeply. And it is wonderful that she is getting her own series. This was the second book. I think it may read as a stand alone but I love that I have read all the history of these altered Nevada stories from the beginning. Other states are in her other books but most of Sara Reine's books are in places I have lived or visited enough to know 'our' versions. It gives a depth to the books that a made up place never has.

Dana is going through divorce in this series and it is messing with her mind. As it does for most of us. The reasons seem weird to me, but most folks from the outside of the couple going through this might think that, also. But will the ending of this book change that? Gosh, Sara, if you're going to bring us to this ending can't you write faster and let us see what happens next?

Okay, I need to clear this up. This is not a cliffhanger. You all know how much I hate those! And I don't know a more prolific author than S.M. Reine. I just love her books so much I can't wait to see what she comes up with next. Hey--since I moved from there two years ago, how about another Reno setting? Las Vegas is too busy, too much of a tourist trap--even in the alternate universe. Is there a place for Dana, the vampire-slayer in demon possessed Reno? Or, since I can't seem to find a way, could you take her to the beaches of California? Orange County, LA County? Mojave Desert?

Okay, I'll read it no matter where you take us! Can't wait!!!!

Dana is still the determined, crass, warrior that she always was. The only difference by the start of this book is that she’s now living as a “blood virgin”-type vampire and is separated from her wife (and sleeping in the tomb of a mystical church). She’s even allowing herself to maybe-sorta-kinda hope that there is a path to the super rare cure for vampires who haven’t fed and that might just get her back to “normal.”

Dana’s teammates (aside from the hunting club) are a little stranger now – the shifter who was dating the vampire that turned Dana and the blood virgin that killed said vampire with the only known cure shot. They’re all somehow working towards more cure shots and/or some level of destruction of the city. Either way, Dana is on board and she’s just as reckless and brutal as ever.

I will admit to being some level of angry at her for most of the book, but not so much that I wasn’t still secretly rooting for her to have a nice HEA-type ending. Sadly, we are still in a series where we have to get through the bad to get the good. In this book, we got back hope, but we are still probably a ways away from wrapping things up.

These books are seriously addictive as you can't put them down until you have read the very last page.
Dana is certainly one kick ass woman and she lets nothing (even becoming a vampire) stand in her way. Fiercely loyal to those in her inner circle but giving Nissa a second chance is serious stretching the friendships. Do vampires really change - are they even capable of it and has this changed Dana now that she is turning into the very thing she hates.
So many action scenes and red herrings thrown in to keep us guessing. I should have expected nothing less as Sara always likes to surprise us with her plot twists and unexpected consequences. Anthony is the perfect sidekick - smart and narky just how we like them but can he save Dana before it is too late? Keep turning the pages and you are sure to find out!
The ending was not that shocking as I had my suspicions on the outcome but I am looking forward to the next book as I am sure it will be worth the wait.

I was offered a copy of this book for free in return for an honest review.

That ending though!!! I’m not going to spoil it, if you want to know, and you know you do, you MUST read this book!
Dana is one of those characters that you don’t want to like, but you end up liking her anyways. I love the
interactions between her and Anthony, they crack me up. So many questions, will you find the answers?
Iron? Who needs it and why? For good or evil?
Can Penny and Dana make it through this? Or will Dana find another love?
Will Dana complete her transition to full vamp, find the cure, die or embrace her life as a blood virgin?
What’s up with Nissa? How and why was she not dead after everything? And should Dana trust her, kill her or fall in love with her?
I didn’t think Dana could get any more “badass” but blood virgin vampire Dana is even more tough and crass, if that is possible!

This book is fast paced with lots of twists and turns. I love the fact that Sara always finds a way to sneak in past characters, that lawyer OMG blast from the past! Nothing is what you would expect. You know you want to read it, so do it! You won’t regret it.

I received this book for free from the author in exchange for an honest review.

It takes a lot to surprise me in a book, I have a tendency to guess endings with fairly high accuracy (particularly with mystery books) early on in the book, but Sara Reine never ceases to amaze me in her ability to keep me guessing.

This book starts out with Dana seeking a cure for being bloodless, and takes many twists and turns as she determines who to trust, and faces the repercussions from those choices. It left us on the edge of a very intense cliff hanger, and I cannot wait to pick up the next book to see the outcome. From events that occurred between Nissa Royal and Dana at this book's finale, relationships will be tested and nightmares explored in the next installment.

Though minor in the grand scheme of things, some of my favorite moments throughout this book were small moments shared between Dana and Penny. They are short, sweet, and exude strong emotion.

Once again, a brilliant book, and I will be waiting for the next installment.

Dana McIntyre wants to tie up some loose ends before she dies. She’s a blood virgin and has no desire to become a full-blooded vampire. One of the issues she wants to clean up is who is importing illegal metals into Las Vegas. Each of the metals that are being imported will kill a specific type of supernatural which would leave Vegas full of only humans and vampires. To get to the bottom of the problem, Dana decides to partner with another blood virgin, Nissa Royal who is the right hand of Vegas’s master vampire.

Penny, Dana’s wife wants her to live and gives her an ultimatum. Either become a vampire and let go off of her revenge desires or get divorced. Dana is a vampire hunter and will never become a vampire, not even for Penny. She just wants to kill them all before she kills herself.

There are some big surprises in store for you in book 2 of Dana McIntyre Must Die so don’t miss this fantastic read.

Dana is still the Dana that we know, love and sometimes hate. She is a determined, crass, vampire slayer. The only difference by the start of this book is that she’s now living as a “blood virgin”-type vampire and is separated from her wife (and sleeping in the tomb of a mystical church). She’s even allowing herself to possibly hope that there is a path to the super rare cure for vampires who haven’t fed and that might just get her back to “normal.”

In this book though there is no turning back from her quest to kill all of the vampires in Las Vegas (including herself most likely). She does get a little bit distracted along the way though (as is known to happen. This time with solving the metal coming into Las Vegas. She also has some new sidekicks and not the ones you were expecting.

The ending is a SM Reine classic and I can't wait to find out what happens next.

This is kind of slow paced for a book written by SM Reine. It is well written and thought out with a shocker of an ending. My biggest problem with this series is that I just can't make myself like Dana; but despite that, I find myself enjoying the story and where it is going. I really like the character Nissa, she seems innocent but is rather sneaky and deceptive. I am looking forward to the next book and finding out what is going on and who is duping who, all the while the struggle with OPA wanting to shut down the Hunting Club and daylight the vamps of Las Vegas. I am starting book 3 tonight, as I am a proud member of Sara's ARC team!

Book two in this series within a series!
The Descentverse!

Dana's lines between hating vampires and not minding them get very muddled in this story as well as the emotional drama with her wife and her. I got a little upset over them not being together over Dana's refusal to go full vampire.

Some more good kicking ass and some shocks from the more mild mannered characters that carry on from the first book.

Love love loved it and can't wait to find out how this story concludes! Will it be a HEA or not? Will have to keep reading and find out!

There is, I think, a real sense of exuberance about this book - you can tell that the author is having a lot of fun with the story.

Once again, this is a plot that has twists, but is a good deal more direct, more straightforward in its telling.  Punchy and fast paced, you can't help but be drawn into the drama and intrigue.

I'm really enjoying what is for me, a refreshing new story arc from the author.

That ending though...

Book 2 finds Dana is still her old grumpy self, but now also a blood virgin..(sorry can't help but snicker cause ya know, its Dana!) I think it is admirable they are still trying to work out the Garlic shot while Dana is also trying to bring down the Vampires and working with Nissa to do so. There were some great twists and "oh crap" moments that kept me hooked and the ending... geeze! :O

Bring on book 3 !!!

Kick butt!

Dana's saga is a- I can't get enough read! I love every character that the Decentverse has created, and every character expanded upon with their own books! It's been awesome to share Dana's kick ass attitude, yet heartbreaking this has happened to her. Tough Dana has gotten a serious life change, what will happen next? SM Reid can't write em fast enough, and previously said; can't read em fast enough!

Still don't like Dana much, but despite that I still mostly enjoyed the story. I love Reine's characters and world building. I especially love how there are soooo many books that all connect in one way or another to each other in this universe she made. Each series has its own flavor to it adding more depth and richness to the over all story/characters you might've thought already had enough to them.
Oh and oh Ceasar!

I received a copy of this book in exchange of a review. I enjoyed book 2 of Dana McIntyre but I found myself getting frustrated with her. I'm glad it seems her and Penny will be working things out because they're awesome together. That ending though eeeek what happens next? I must know!!!
