Gripping, gritty, and highly suspenseful!
The Coldest Fear is a taut, disturbing police procedural that delves into a 32-year-old cold case involving missing children and takes you on a hunt for an escaped, sadistic serial killer.
The writing is fluid and intense. The plot is a skillfully crafted mix of twists, turns, murder, retribution, justice, fear, deception, lies, and secrets. And the characterization is remarkably well done with some of the usual gang back including the wounded, determined Bobbie Gentry who finds herself heading to Savannah to help out on the case and the mysterious, troubled Nick Shade who still seems to be hiding in the shadows.
The Coldest Fear is truly a macabre thrill ride with great pace, good character development, and an ending that will leave you wanting more. And even though this is the third book in the Shades of Death series and can be read as a standalone novel, I highly recommend the first two titles in the series, No Darker Place (Book #1) and A Deeper Grave (Book #2) as well.

Thirty-Two years ago, on the same night, 5 young children mysteriously disappeared. They were never seen again. There were no ransom notes, no clues, nothing .... they just disappeared into thin air, leaving 5 families to grieve for the rest of their lives.
Today that all changes. The local veterinarian and his wife are found murdered in their home...each of them submerged in hardened cement. The plastic headstones on some of the graves in the pet cemetery have been broken. Inside each one is a pile of very small bones. But there are only 4 of them. Where is child # 5?
Detective Bobbie Gentry is summoned to Savannah to help work this very cold case. A serial killer ... Nick Slade's father ... is still on the loose ... still making it a priority to kill Bobbie in order to make his son angry enough to kill. Nick still has nightmares about becoming like his father.
Over the next few days, parents of the lost children begin to die .. in a horrible, gruesome manner. And no one is talking .... secrets are buzzing around like flies at a picnic.
What happened 32 years ago? Why were these children taken? What connects them to each other? And why is the secret of where they went just now becoming public knowledge? And why is the on-the-run serial killer hanging around now?
Bobbie and Nick are going to have to go back to the beginning and start putting all the puzzle pieces together. But their time is running short and the serial killer maybe moving up his timeline.
This is the 3rd book in the series ..and it's a doozie. I strongly recommend and suggest you read this series from the very beginning. Bobbie's and Nick's stories start in Book 1 and it's something you don't want to miss. THE COLDEST FEAR does okay as a stand alone. though.
I have come to expect so much from Debra Webb's books ... suspense and mystery ... strong characters .... evil killers .... and a little romance here and there. This one does not disappoint.
I'm really looking forward to the next one .....THE LONGEST SILENCE.

Each character is well developed and so very complex, each with their own ghosts haunting them from their past and an inner strength to battle for their future.
I suggest that you don't start this on a night that you have to get up the next morning because putting it down once started is a tough job!
Although this book does work as a stand alone, I suggest you read the series in order....and really, you will WANT to!

Not for the weak at heart! Quite graphic at times, but remember the story is about a serial killer(s). Lots of secrets in Savannah, Georgia. But what is the biggest secret you ask - read the book! This is a pretty good series that follows Detective Bobbie Gentry with help from Nick Shade and Lieutenant Troy Durham (in this particular book) into her investigation of the psychopathic psychiatrist, Randolph Weller.
Lots of twists and turns and some red herrings to boot!

Where do I start?
For me...this author gets better and better with every book. I am blown away that I could love this series more than her Faces of Evil series but hot damn...THIS SERIES is AMAZEBALLS!
With every book in the A Shades of Death series you are drawn into the world of Detective Bobbi Gentry's world and what a dark place to be.
Bobbi is damaged, some might say beyond repair, so to speak. But her grit, her determination and sheer vision for doing what is needed has me on the edge of my seat for every book.
Debra Webb has a way...what a fabulous way of creating characters that you can't turn away from. Whether they are heroes or the most vile killers. You want to see what makes them tick. And you want to see the good guy win.
Bobbi is kick ass and when she teams up with the man in the shadows (that's what I call him) they are unbeatable. Even if he is slow to catch on...lol. I love that they are both damaged, fragile in some ways and the strongest in others. The progression of the friendship that develops is tough at times to watch because of both of their pasts. Nick is a true hero, perhaps...a hunter of evil. And because of his past and his family he feels that this is the only way for him to live. He will soon realize that there a things he can't control, including his heart.
Also what makes Debra Webb an Epic storyteller is her plots, you never see what's coming. The twists and turns, the subtle undertones. Brilliant. Also her secondary surrounding characters are also key in the process, and when you put it all together. Boooyah! You have a story you can't put down! If you are a fan of murder, mystery, epic plot twists and characters that you will love OR hate long after you close the book. Then YOU MUST read this amazing storyteller!

‘The Coldest Fear’ picks up immediately where ‘A Deeper Grave’ left off, where Bobbie Gentry rushes after Nick Shade to help conquer his demons after he helped her with hers. There’s so much I like about this series and it's primarily because of the unusual partnership that Debra Webb has gotten going between Bobbie and Nick: their pasts, their sheer capabilities to rise above their broken lives, their similar passions and the depth of their own feelings. Yet very little of that shows up in this book and without this defining feature that I’d found in the past two books, 'The Coldest Fear’ stayed a very good read but not a fantastic one.
I'd expected that this was going to be a story of Nick and Bobbie working together to search for the man who supposedly orchestrated every recent tragedy in Bobbie’s life. What I hadn’t expected was to see Nick pulling so far away that he stayed hidden in the shadows, mostly out of sight and out of the narrative, still caught in his self-recriminating guilt because he would never be the kind of man for Bobbie who deserved better. This partnership that I’d envisioned was sadly, nowhere to be seen and like Bobbie, I was frustrated seeing Nick disappear when he was clearly needed and his insistence that he had to go at solving the biggest case alone was more hindrance than help by the time I reached the halfway mark. Instead, a seemingly unrelated sub-plot came into play—and which seemed irrelevant—with the pieces only falling into place later as Bobbie gets drawn into a bizarre situation of missing children from a cold case that is 32 years old with Nick relegated to nearly a peripheral character while Bobbie conducted her investigations with another officer in Savannah. It was as though I’d stepped into a separate police procedural with many POVs inserted into the narrative as the plot spirals out into peripheral details and rabbit trails that were bewildering to say the least.
There are however, shocking revelations towards the end and these strings are brought together quite masterfully by Webb as characters finally reveal the fractured history that they all share. It almost makes the long detour worth it, though it was difficult to see anything past the destruction of all the characters' lives after a while. The hunt for twisted, psychopathic serial killers is claustrophobically wearing and the characters do bleakly reflect this: their personal tragedies are worn deep on their skin and psyches and no one comes away untouched at all.
This series definitely falls more into the suspense/thriller genre with very little emphasis on the romance, which, because of my own personal tastes, was the only disappointment. It’s well-plotted and a complex enough puzzle to get any suspense/thriller-fan going especially with all the mudding details that don’t add up, yet I couldn’t help but think that the overarching story feels very unfinished beyond Bobbie’s personal acceptance of events.

Plenty of suspense along with some big secrets uncovered. A 32 year old cold case of 5 young kids who went missing along with the continued hunt for serial killer Randolph Weller all collide in Savannah, Georgia.
Detective Bobbie Gentry has swore she is going to be there for serial killer hunter Nick Shade even if he doesn't want her to. He brought her back from the brink of not caring whether she lived or died and there is no way she is going to let him hunt for his mastermind serial killer father on his own. Along the way she gets called to help out on the cold case in Savannah not realizing that Randolph is up to his old tricks of manipulating everyone to be where he wants them to be.
Along with some creative murders, the investigation to try and figure out what happened 32 years ago and wondering how Randolph is connected, a main character has some major secrets that were hidden from them come to light.
The overarching thread from the previous books is for the most part wrapped up but I certaily hope this isnt the last book. This is a intense at times, edge of your seat, thrilling suspense series and one I hope there are more books to come.

This is the first in the series I have read and the second I finished it I picked up the first two. The story works well as a stand alone novel but the first few chapters readers will feel they are missing out on something special.
Debra Webb as a wonderful ability to create a web of strong characters that stay true from beginning of the to the end of the novel. The Killers are evil to the point of creepy and I am not sure I want to let my kids out of my site. The story creates a great blend of mystery that keeps readers on the edge of their seats while giving them romance to keep hope that good will win.

This is the last in the series for Bobbie and Nick and I have to say it was just a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT
It was such an anticlimactic ending to Nicks dad the serial killer we have heard about and had been the big baddie for 3 books. Nicks and his father’s stories GOT shoved to the background so we could get a completely different case that wasn’t related. I mean not really.
Nick was in the background to. Like why build up this relationship and working relationship and huge storyline with Nick, Bobbie and Nicks dad only to make it a background story? Also Nick and Bobbie didn’t even work together. Bobbie had a new partner for this one. I hate that I wanted to see them work together.
Another thing, why give Bobbie more screen time and chemistry with a new man then with her love interest? This is the second time this author has written the VERY LITTLE amount of romance she has created and shoved it even further to the background and gave the h more chemistry with someone else. It’s honestly so weird.
I wanted to see Nick and Bobbie work together to catch his dad. I wanted a showdown but instead we get the dumbest most anticlimactic ending ever. Barely any time between Nick and Bobbie and a whole new case and partner.
It was just not great. This author makes some very bizarre choices. I dont know why you would spend 2-3 books building a plot or romance in a series only to drop the ball on the last book. So dumb
Anyways at least Nick got closure with his dad and was finally able to give Bobbie the commitment they both wanted. I did really like him as a character and I like the little romance we got. They have a HFN with the knowledge it’s gonna be a HEA

Serial killer Randolph Weller has escaped from prison. He has managed to manipulate events and draw Det Bobbie Gentry to Savannah Georgia. The bodies of children who disappeared without a clue have been found after 32 years. Weller has returned to Savannah for a reason and he has managed to get Bobbie involved in the case. What is Wellers agenda? Why is he in Savannah? The only thing we know for sure is if Weller is around more bodies will turn up.
This is a great book suspense book. There are all so many twists in the plot that you don't know which direction to turn. The characters in this book have a lot of secrets. The end of the book has a surprising twist that came completely out of the blue. You won't be able to put this one down once you pick it up. This is the 3rd book in the series and I would recommend reading the first two before this one. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

Bobbie Gentry is a homicide detective that lost her husband, son & partner to a serial killer. Now she's on the hunt for Weller another serial killer that escaped. Running on coffee and very little sleep she's determined to bring him in or die trying.
Bobbie was very likable. She doesn't stop even at her own expense. Her and Nick have a weird relationship because he's worried he's inherited his serial killer fathers murderous genes. Bobbie doesn't give up on him though. The action was steady along with the plot. I wanted to know what happened to the children and their parents and wasn't disappointed. I really would like to readthe previous books now that I've finished this one.

Detective Bobbie Gentry is, yet again, on the hunt for Randolph Weller, Nick Shade's serial killer father. This time they are lured to Savannah, only to find that the parents of 5 children murdered decades ago, are slowly being picked off. The players in this mystery are many, the stories complicated, the evidence almost non-existent and, the suspects are all telling the same, apparently... well-rehearsed, stories.
I want everyone who has been reading these types of books for years and, convinced that they always know who the killer or killers are by the time they're halfway through the books, to read this series. You will lose each and every time!!!
I am continually blown away by the multitude of suspects, their well-developed characters and my inability to figure out who commits the crimes until the very end of each book!
These are terrifying, eerie, don't turn your lights out, lock your doors books that you will not be able to put down until the last word!!!!!

I’m thoroughly enjoying Debra Webb’s new romantic thriller series, Shades of Death. With that premise, how could THE COLDEST FEAR not be a white-knuckle thrill ride from the outset?? So I must admit I was initially a bit disappointed when instead it turned out to be fairly slow-paced. The new mystery at the centre of the book was intriguing, sure, and the tantalizing glimpses of Weller kept me turning the pages to seek out the next tidbit in his masterfully depraved plan… But. Everything. Was. Just. So. Sloooow. It wasn’t until after shit really got real in the final ~10-15% of the book and Ms. Webb dropped the mother of all plot twists that I realised she had just given a masterclass in the slow build. THE COLDEST FEAR won’t be out until late August/early September, but I already can’t wait for more of Bobbie and Nick!

This time around Bobbie is drawn off of her home turf and finds herself investigating a cold case where five children suddenly disappeared. This was a case where nothing turned up in the initial investigation yet all of a sudden four of the children's bodies were found and the fathers of the children are turned up dead.
Nick has decided that he is going to be too much like his father because he enjoyed killing to save Bobbie's life. Now he doesn't want her around and is on the hunt for his father. Bobbie however is not accepting this verdict.
Talk about a stunning conclusion to a great trilogy! While I do hope that Ms. Webb write more about Bobbie and Nick, I don't see how she can top this book. I highly recommend that my readers who enjoy romantic suspense pick up this series. You can't go wrong.

The twist bumped it to 5 stars. Forcing myself to wait a week or two to read the final book in the series (and I recommend reading from the start of the series. Too much would be lost to read otherwise).

Bobbie has left town to go to Atlanta to find Nick Shade after Weller has made his escape. She ends up in Savannah just as 5 children are found encased in statues in a pet cemetery. All disappeared over 32 years ago. The chief of police has requested her name as it mysteriously appears in the case file. Problem was this all occurred before she was born.
She knows that Weller is setting her up for a showdown of massive proportions but is he involved in the disappearance of the children so long ago?
Then the parents of the children keep being found dead. What is the connection to Bobby or to Nick Shade?
Again, Debra Webb hits it out of the ball park. I started reading and could not stop til finished. I have to say this series is my favorite to date by this author and highly recommend!

This is the third book in the Shades of Death series, so you should definitely read those those before reading this one. Nick and Bobbie are still tracking Raymond Weller, a serial killer of epic proportion. Their hunt takes them to Savannah, so you know there has to be some hoo-doo spooky/psychic stuff involved. They get involved in a case where several rich folk kids went missing years ago and somehow Weller is involved. I love this series and it was a good way to spend my Saturday afternoon. In every book, I feel that I am still unable to really know or even to figure out just who is committing these murderers. We have Detective Bobbie Gentry, who has been dealing with the loss of her family. Having to deal with trying to still do her job, and getting to the killer before there are more murders.
Nick Shade, is a very interesting person, that has a past that is very haunting. His father is a series killer, who is in prison servicing time for the many murders that he committed. Because of Nick’s father he has built his life in hunting series killers. But his father has other plans that is so sinister to what he wants for his son.
When there is a string of murders, it leads Bobbie and Nick to Savannah. Suddenly, they find themselves involved in past cold cases that have come to light. Let me just say that there is a lot of suspense and mysteries all roll into this story.
With that said, I would have to say that the characters in this story will keep you on your toes. This is a book that you will want to read. But you will want to read the very beginning of this series to know who and if there are more than one suspects in this book. Debra Webb, is a writer who wants her reader to enjoy the stories that she is telling us. The coldest Fear, will keep you turning the pages to see just where the story will take you.

I have really enjoyed the Shades of Death series so far and I was really excited for The Coldest Fear.
This newest installment in the Shades of Death series is a bit slow for the first half of it, but when it picks up I could not put it down for a second,
I love the main characters of Nick and Bobbie, I think their chemistry is thrilling and I cannot wait to see where they go next. The secondary characters helped bring this story come to life and kept me on my toes for most of it.
I really am trying to avoid spoilers here, but expect this to be a thrilling ride full of twists and turns.
If you enjoy a good mystery or thriller with a dash of romance, this is the series for you!

My low rating is due to the fact that this book not only is one in a continuing series (a "Shades of Death" novel), but that it is a continuation of a story that ends 24 HOURS BEFORE this one begins. That is, the events of this novel pick up IMMEDIATELY after the events of its predecessor end. As a result, this is not at all a stand-alone book, and 50 pages into it I had to give up, as the exposition had still at that point not been completely established. The characters, like Bobbie, Weller, Nick, LeDoux, et al, their various relationships to each other, as well as the motives for their actions, and plot points, all depend on the reader's foreknowledge of the previous book, which, if you have not read it, will make this one confusing and uninteresting, despite the backstory the author provides. I just could not make it past 50 pages because of this. A reader who is familiar with this story and history would probably enjoy this, however.
A word about modern suspense thrillers: unfortunately, as with the modern horror film trend, I find contemporary thrillers like this more in the venue of torture porn than suspense. Machetes hacking up people's bodies are just not of interest..

A riveting, intense, and gritty thriller that takes you to the deepest, darkest corners of the human mind, and shows you the consequences of no remorse, no guilt, no respect towards anything.
The Coldest Fear is the latest installment of the serial thriller that has blown my mind and scared me witless. The story continues directly from where the last book, No Darker Place, ended and has had me hooked even though I normally don't go for the serial stories. I would recommend reading this amazing series in the order of the books published.
Detective Bobbie Gentry has gone rogue with the hunt for the serial killer. Despite the orders of her superiors, she is following the latest leads, and nothing, not even the threat of losing her job will stop her. Bobbie has faced more than most can even imagine, yet she pushes on. She is smart, capable, and brave. She can see the bigger picture as the law enforcement desperately are searching for clues. She likes to take charge, she knows what she is doing, and she will defend and protect her loved ones to the last breath. I admire her guts, her instinct, her caring heart, and smarts. She is a true heroine, awe inspiring at times, yet she has the vulnerability and humbleness that makes her just one of us.
Her relationship with Nick Shade, her need to keep him safe from the monstrous father, tilts her fragile balance. Nick is trying to keep his distance from her to keep her safe, yet the pull to be close is too strong, unavoidable, and passionate. This is by no means a 'romance story' even though Nick and Bobbie and the connection between them is in the focus of the tale. The Coldest Fear is an enthralling thriller filled with suspense with a secondary element of romance in it.
The cases investigated are increasing, the amount of deceased are escalating, there's obvious connection to the crimes, but the solid evidence is missing. Who can they trust, who has tempered the evidence in the past and in the present, what is the missing link, and where is the last child still missing after all these years, will any of them survive the constant attacks, will the families affected by the tragedies have healing or will their disintegrate?
This story kept me on my toes and glued to the tale, it was impossible to put down since the constant twists in the plot peeked the intensity anew. The author's voice, the effortlessly flowing tale, the fervor of the characters as they are seeking for answers, the tension seeping from each scene, from every page, made this story potent and notable. A highly recommended series for all suspense and thriller readers!

Nick Shade is the one man that's managed to help Bobbie past her grief after the death of her husband and son. So, with Nick determined to go on the hunt for his serial-killer father; a dangerous man that has escaped from prison, Bobbie decides she won't be far behind. However, when she's dragged into an investigation as a distraction, Bobbie needs to unravel what is going on before things become too dangerous for her and Nick. Will Bobbie be able to uncover the truth in order to survive?
This series has been a wild ride when it comes to the suspense; everything the main characters have been through as they've outwitted killers and been pushed to the brink when it comes to the loses they've suffered; and this third book of Ms. Webb's Shades of Death series was scintillating, fast-paced and a story I could not put down. The way this story started had me liking the heroine and her determination to help Nick with finding his dad, even though she knows he wouldn't accept her help because he's protective of her. Will she be able to convince him otherwise? Especially since she's overcome a lot all ready and has proven she can handle herself in a tough situation against the most dangerous of criminals.
As for the dialogue, it was powerful, intense and took me on a rollercoaster of emotions, as the investigation Bobbie's been invited into takes plenty of twists and turns that could lead to Nick's world being turned upside down and could make Bobbie think back on all she's lost, especially her son. Furthermore, the heroine is resilient, courageous and I liked how determined she was to aid both the police department she's helping and how determined she was to help Nick, because the two of them working together is better than them each working alone. I also liked how cool Bobbie was under pressure, especially when it came to standing up for herself when it came to her relationship with Nick. While Nick, he's resourceful, determined and I liked how protective he was of Bobbie and that he would do anything for her. Then again, there's no talking Bobbie out of doing her job, no matter how dangerous things could become. I also liked how this story unwound when it came to the hero's back story and how it's different to what he's believed over the years.
Overall, Ms. Webb has penned a scintillating and worthwhile read in this book where the chemistry between Nick and Bobbie was as strong as ever and the ending had me on the edge-of-my-seat due to what one of the main characters goes through and took me by surprise by what readers learn about Nick. I would recommend The Coldest Fear by Debra Webb, if you enjoy romantic suspense, mystery novels, or books by authors Cynthia Eden, Sharon Sala, Lisa Jackson and Mary Burton.

The Coldest Fear is book #3 in the phenomenal Shades of Death series by Debra Webb, and it's a chilling, suspenseful thriller that's a definite must read! This book picks up right where A Deeper Grave, book #2 in the series, left off. Detective Bobbie Gentry has lost so many people that she loved and cared about, but she doesn't have time to mourn them yet. In trying to find Nick or his father who has escaped from prison, she gets a tip about an address that Weller's attorney tried having something sent to.
As she's about to make her way there, she gets a call from the local police in the same town regarding an old case of missing children that she supposedly consulted on, even though she's never been there. Bobbie knows that Weller's leading her there for a reason, and until she figures it out, she decides that helping the local police with their case is her best option, at least until Nick warns her to leave, again. When the bodies start piling up, she and the local police try to figure out who's behind the murders before anyone else gets hurt.
Will Nick stop fighting against the attraction between him and Bobbie, or will he decide that staying in the shadows is the best for both of them? Can Bobbie convince him that he won't end up like his father? Will they finally work together to figure out who's murdering the people tied to the missing children, and what message Weller wants them to get from it? Will they be able to find and capture Weller before he leaves more bodies in his wake? What will happen when all of the secrets are finally out? You're going to have to read this to find out!
I highly suggest that you start this series with the prequel The Blackest Crimson, prior to reading book #1. It is the beginning of the story between Detective Bobbie Gentry and the elusive serial killer she and the FBI have been hunting, The Storyteller. You will get a better understanding of the stories in the series, as well as Bobbie Gentry, and the rest of the characters if you read the books in order. They are all fantastic, and you won't be disappointed!

Ever since I discovered the Faces of Evil books I have been a fan of Debra Webb. When I'm not sure of what to read she's one of my go-to author, because I can always count on a riveting and suspenseful story and The Coldest Fear was no exception.
I've been following the Shades of Death books from the beginning and while some series tend to lose momentum or my interest, I'm still very much invested in these characters and want to see more. The books feature Detective Bobbie Gentry and serial killer hunter, Nick Shade who both face unimaginable nightmares. Bobbie's story is so heart wrenching and yet instead of feeling pity for her, I admire her courage, resilience and determination to bring justice to her loved ones. Likewise, Nick, a man with a broken past who has seen the world he once knew twisted by a serial killer too close to home, is on a mission to hunt down criminals and prove that he is nothing like them. These characters are definitely my reason for reading these books. Bobbie is vulnerable and yet such a strong heroine and I can see how she and Nick are mutually drawn to one another. I hold these characters emotionally close and I find the plot supports them well. Over the course of the books, I've gotten closer to the characters and seen first-hand the characters battle evil, and grow in so many ways from learning to trust again and living with purpose.
The plot involves a missing children cold case. Bobbie is drawn into the case by a serial killer who is setting the stage to reveal a life-changing secret. Along the way elite members of the community are being murdered. As Bobbie and Nick chase down the killer they realize they are more connected than they first thought.
Debra Webb doesn't hold back in creating her monsters and the scenes can be disturbing, and for me that makes the characters even more real. These are the moments that really showcase the evil but gives the characters the opportunity to fight and survive. I did find some aspects of the plot predictable but overall still a suspenseful read. I can't wait for more books in this series.

What is your worst fear, the one that freezes your heart, causes goose bumps, and threatens your sanity? For most parents, it's the loss of their child. Debra Webb explores this theme in her latest book in the Shades of Death series, The Coldest Fear.When a string of killings bloodies Savannah's elite society and causes cold cases for missing children to resurface, Detective Bobby Gentry and Nick Shade, profiler and hunter of serial killers, are brought together again. Is this accidental or purposeful? If purposeful, is it Randolph Weller, Nick's father and Bobby's tormentor, pulling the strings? Do the murders and cold cases relate to Bobby's and Nick's damaged past?
Debra Webb masterfully weaves the plot, and even though I have a great track record of figuring out "who dunnit," I never even anticipated the many twists The Coldest Fear offers. While the plot moves at a fast past, the characters development is thorough. Are we beginning to see real healing for Bobby and Nick? Will they overcome the tragedies of the past? Will Randolph Weller tear them apart? Debra has created characters we really care about, people who have struggles that we want to see them overcome.
Every book Debra writes is better than the last. The Coldest Fear is no exception. For suspense, great plot, good character development, and thrills a minute, I highly recommend this read!!! Too, if you haven't read the other books in the Shades of Death series, the series a "must read."

The third book in Debra Webb's Bobbie Gentry series is the most intense one yet, dealing with the deaths of children, for indeed, that is THE COLDEST FEAR. The setting has changed from Montgomery to Savannah as a missive has summoned Bobbie there for a reason that is unclear to her, but she is sure that it involves Weller and Nick Shade. Once there, it is not long before she discovers that a pet cemetery is the setting for the burial grounds of long-missing children. But she has yet to discover the connection to Weller and Nick. The FBI is hot on the trail of Weller and is trying to hard to make sure that he is arrested for murders while Bobbie is trying to figure out the mysteries of the murdered children and the two boys who are still missing. One of them is tied to Amelia Potter, a lady who seems to have a vision of her and Bobbie in terrible danger. Bobbie doesn't dismiss her vision, but she has a job to do so she continues on her mission to help Nick find Weller before he kills again. The plot is high action as are all of Ms. Webb's thrillers, so hold on to your seats and be prepared for an ending that you will not believe! There are a lot of characters who are less than lovable that you will not mind saying good-bye to at their demise. Others, however, you will want to win; they aren't exactly heroes, but they are better than the villains. The book is a wonderful read that you won't want to miss and will make you really wish it were time for the next Bobbie Gentry book!

THE COLDEST FEAR begins exactly where Deeper Grave left off in author Debra Webb's Shades of Death series. I have loved reading Ms. Webb's books from her Colby series but in this one, she will take you down a winding road and lead you to places you least expect. THE COLDEST FEAR deals with much emotion ... from those solving the mystery of the missing children, those who lived it and those who might have prevented the tragedy as it unfolded - but didn't for one reason or another.
The characters in this story have a realistic feel to them, and of course some of them you are really grateful that they are only on paper. Bobbie's resiliency is amazing, having lost so much in life but her strength in refusing to give in just makes you root for her more. Love interest Nick Slade is also a very broken man ... his father is the serial killer they are searching for and he wants to kill Bobbie to make Nick into the killer he was meant to be - someone just like him.
The most amazing twist of this book has to do with Nick - but that will have to wait for you the reader to discover as it would be a very big spoiler. THE COLDEST FEAR is the book you want in your hands if you love a mystery with a number of unexpected twists, intriguing dialogue with clues that might lead you to the answers (or not) and the building a good relationship between two people who are so broken only having each other in their lives will heal them.

The most amazing twist of this book has to do with Nick - but that will have to wait for you the reader to discover as it would be a very big spoiler. THE COLDEST FEAR is the book you want in your hands if you love a mystery with a number of unexpected twists, intriguing dialogue with clues that might lead you to the answers (or not) and the building a good relationship between two people who are so broken only having each other in their lives will heal them.
