Rate this book
Live Model contains full color printing of 179 high resolution photographs of male and female nudes. For drawing, the book provides careful lighting emphasizing shape, form and shading. For painting, full color printing is accompanied by large photographs on CD showing fine details such as texture and coloration of eyes, lips, skin and hair. For sculpting, Live Model provides multiple views of the same pose every 45 degrees. In addition, many poses are photographed both straight-on and from above allowing visibility into valleys of the form. Close-ups of face, feet and hands show fine details such as the creases in knuckles, texture of hair and the curl of fingers and toes. The accompanying CD contains all the photos from the book plus extras in full page size high resolution PDFs. Using the free viewer they can be viewed, rotated, zoomed in, printed, or projected life size. Book One introduces the Live Model series while providing a variety of models in multiple poses printed in full color for the price of one modeling session.

Douglas is the principle photographer for Live Model Books and the Art Models series of books and disks for figure artists.
When he launched the Art Models series, he envisioned his in-the-round photography being used by sculptors who need to see all around the figure. Over time, more and different types of artists requested other subjects, like the figure in action and chiaroscuro lighting. As a result, Douglas' photography is now in books, disks, downloads, e-books, and websites used by thousands of artists around the world who all share a passion for figure art.
