In the beginning... God, indeed, created wondrous things, had He not? ... Colossians 1:16a "For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, VISIBLE and INVISIBLE..." Yes, the invisible side of the creation, of what natural man and even science cannot see ... The invisible side of creation was made along with, and at the same time, as the natural creation − and even today is still being used to convert new Christian souls over to God! Also, as we will see, there can be both harmony and perfect balancing in completely naturalizing and completely spiritualizing Genesis Chapter 1 ... 'In the Beginning: It was Spiritual from the Very Start' will explore how that can even be possible ... The main purpose of this book is to not only point out that there are indeed metaphoric teachings within the Christian Bible, but to also show how we can actually trace these said metaphors right to the very beginning of time! Since the topic of metaphoric understandings will also be covered in two other books (in this three part topic within the Seeking the Everlasting Gospel teaching series − see page 4), the ‘beginning' will only be spoken on here, to show folks that this extraordinary idea can certainly be traced back a long, long way; especially since some people feel that metaphors, idioms, parables, and all such like similitude's, may have only come briefly into existence during the early church period − if at all! Or, if some folks have already figured that those things were in there to begin with, their thoughts will simply be strengthened. Finally, it’ll be pointed out, along with other ideas, the differences of both the natural and the spiritual camps of understanding of the Written Word of God. And, again, that will be accomplished by talking about the Beginning...

'Seeking the Everlasting Gospel Teaching Series' author Ted Roberts has not only sat under an extremely gifted ministry during his youth, but he has also been studying the Written Word of God, along with History, for the past 30 years. Wishing to search, meditate on, and examine the Written Word as much as possible, and as in-depth as possible (along with historical documentations that actually complement the Divine Text) the author's wish is that he can please his Lord in the quest of helping others to understand the richness of God's vast repertoire, and to help people travel the road that the Apostle Paul explains as thus: Ephesians 3:17-19 - "That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God."
Tim Roberts brings a sincere and much-needed message to fundamentalists. The Bible contains metaphoric teachings. Who better to bring that message than one of their own?
Roberts says there are natural and scientific understandings to the first chapter of Genesis. Such dual teachings he refers to as "pivoting."
Prophecies in the Book of Revelation were fulfilled in the first century, mainly with the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 A.D. This is called preterism, and if I judge correctly, Roberts is a "full" preterist. Some people consider full preterism a heretical doctrine. I would probably rate the book higher except for the preterism. I am not a preterist.
The strange combination of literalism and spiritual interpretation lead to some unique results. For instance;
"...Hebrew was the language which was being spoken by the occupants of Babel before they even begun their construction of the Tower..."
Roberts attributes this idea to Edenics. "...Edenics' is a study which was founded by Isaac Elchanan Mozeson, who taught English at Yeshiva College (where he got his B.A.) and New York University (where he completed his doctoral studies). Since he published 'The Word: The Dictionary That Reveals the Hebrew Source of English (1989)..."
Another strange sounding interpretation is of Genesis 1:6. "I see this passage speaking of a possible canopy of natural ice."
I agree with some of Roberts other ideas, and I look forward to his next book.
