Finally! An entire book by Larry W. Timm! He is a dynamic speaker, a prolific freelance author, and now a published novelist. Whether speaking from the stage, or setting the stage of his book, Larry presents the characters in all their humanness and crafts a plot that takes you on a roller coaster of emotions--laughter, tears, compassion, empathy, fear, anger, disgust (how does such a seemingly normal author have such a dark side?). Even if suspense is not your usual genre of choice, you will be captivated by the characters, plot and message of this book. Regrettably, there is one thing missing--Larry is also an exceptional narrator. If this book was also in audio form, in Larry's voice, you would certainly experience a new level of pleasure (and goose bumps).
And now, Larry W. Timm, what's next?!

Great Book

I found this book to be exciting and it moved very quickly. It was wonderful to read a book this good without having to skim over bad language and sex scenes. Murder for Emily's Sake caught my attention and intrigued me starting in chapter 1. This was a real page turner with some twists and turns. I also found the characters to be believable and likable. I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a good book

Wow! What a book! I was concerned at first that it might be to negative for me, but it wasn't. I really enjoyed it. The characters were well done and quite real. There were some amazing surprises in the story too, beyond the usual "who done it" kind. This book will certainly have an impact on each reader. The author does a great job of sharing the truth about abortion, salvation, death, and forgiveness, in the life of a Christian. I highly recommend it!

Jack Gray (husband/father) was looking at Emily Gray (daughter) temporary headstone & the Baby’s Breath flowers that were now wilting on her gravesite.
She had died of cardiopulmonary failure while being birthed.
His thoughts then turned to Lindsay “Lindz” Birk, Nancy Gunn (Preacher’s wife, nee Vanderpool), & Kathy Schultz.
Lindsay was about to begin her day at Agape Children’s Hospital.
Kathy (Jerrod’s wife) is the director of Genesis Pregnancy Care Center.

Northside Community Church. Nancy is Pastor Marcus Gunn Sr.’s wife.
Northside Community Church. Detective Dale Carson was there to keep & eye on the funeral proceedings/crowd.
Marcus “Little Sprout” Gunn Jr. (son) eulogy, funeral/burial was over.
He had died from leukemia.
The church had taken up a donation & built a playground in his honor.
Abigail Vanderpool (Little Sprout’s grandmother) had passed away.
Wichita, KS. Officer Dustin Green (Wichita PD) was headed for the Memorial Casket warehouse. Some caskets had been stolen.
There was a fire at Genesis Pregnancy Care Center.
The EMT’s took Chaplain Elvetta MacElraney (Ty’s mother) to the hospital.
Fire Marshal Al Bennington had arrived.

Will Detective Carson solve the murder cases & bring someone to justice?

I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review. Only an honest one.

A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written cozy mystery book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a large set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great suspense mystery movie, or better yet a mini TV series. A very easy rating of 5 stars.

This book is a thrill-ride suspense but also much more. Faith and prolife messages are relayed through the characters' actions. The Birk family conversations and interactions inject humor in the midst of tragedy and terror. A romance barely begins; a marriage is strengthened; and a family is formed.

I wondered about the villain's background; the immediate trigger to his murderous vengeance was the death of his daughter.

I try really hard not to do reviews, because as an author it seems unfair to laud praise, or destroy, another member of the guild.

But it is safe to say that Larry Timm has hit the mark in his telling of this story. He has people of good faith motoring right on through adversity. The issue of abortion is one which will not go away, and he certainly brings a good perspective to the topic.

Definitely a read for anyone interested in Christian fiction with a pro-life outlook.

That and the fact that Larry Timm has a sense of humor as strange as my own, makes it worth a read. He captures the dialogue of his teenage characters, and their parents, quite well.

I guess a subtitle could be "Bad Things Happen to Good People." The style of writing is a bit jerky, and the story seems to alternate between prayer and suffering. Some situations evoked an emotional response, but in general the writing was weak and the story bland, despite the actions of a loony keeping everyone on edge. Some characters were stereotypes, but drawn well, e.g., Mamma Mac the loud, black preacher. I hate to put a book down once start reading, and I forced myself to the end, where thhe writing seemed to get a little smoother.

A chilling story that is masterfully woven. Who doesn't love suspense that forces one to teeter on the edge of their seat? But, this story is much more than that! This story of twisted revenge and cloaked secrets unfolds into a story of unexpected redemption. I have no doubt that this story could help heal a suspense loving reader who has their own checkered past, such as myself. (I hate to write too much and give even a shred of the suspense away, just trust me, okay!) I cannot wait to see where Larry Timm's next tale will take us!

Murder for Emily's Sake will definitely keep your attention! The main characters were great! Jack plans not one but three murders to avenge his daughter's death and plans to bury them alive!! Pastor Marcus Gunn and his wife, Nancy, learn that a successful marriage has no room for secrets. I recommend Murder for Emily's sake to anyone who enjoys suspense. I won my book in a Suspense Sisters Giveaway. This is my honest opinion.

I was given this book and my review is of my own free will. I truly enjoyed this story. It was well written. The characters were well developed and the story flowed well. It was a suspense story but not a nail-biter. But, it was the type of story that was hard to put down. It is a Christian book but not preachy. It has a touch of love story but not a true love story. It wasn't a difficult read either. I would recommend this book to any teen or older who likes a good, clean suspense story.

Good characters, good story

I enjoyed reading A Murder for Emily’s Sake.
The characters were easy to relate to, some fitting people I know. The book was thrilling. I read it every chance I had because I had to know what came next.
Some parts of the plot were predictable, but overall the storytelling was solid and kept my attention.
As I said, I enjoyed reading this book, and I feel that fans of thrillers, especially Christian thrillers, will enjoy it too.

Evil shadower

Emily died in childbirth and started a murderous vendetta. Three women and three coffins, who is trying to fill them,? I enjoyed the feeling of dread that permeated the whole book and gave a brooding feel to the story.
The cat and mouse game that the killer was playing was very creepy, but exciting. The characters were well rounded and believable.

This story ran the whole spectrum of emotions. Everyone's feelings are so clearly portrayed. You can feel the despair of Emily's dad as well as the fear of the women he blames for their death. The story grips you and doesn't let you go as you can feel for each person involved. This book is very hard to put down once you start it.

This book was in some ways predictable and in some ways unpredictable.

I have to say that I have never read a book that seemed to be so predictable, but turn out to be a one of a kind book. I enjoyed reading it and trying to figure out how everyone was going to survive.

Wanted to give 1/2 star

The story was uplifting from a Christian viewpoint, but predictable. I found "little sprout" to be an irritation; who in their right mind would call their son that? Also, the author could have left the Momma Mac character on the cutting room floor.

Great read.

Grieving father, who's daughter died unexpectedly, goes off the deep end. He blamed three women, who worked at the clinic where she died. His daughters death, was due to a freak occurance.
