We are on the brink of chaos. Terrorist attacks run rampant, fear and tension mount, and nuclear war seems inevitable. An ancient tribe of beings, disguised as a primitive people living on an isolated island, is discovered with promises to save the world from its own destruction. We call them the Cth’anko, and they come bearing a Trojan Horse-like gift: the God Lily, a cultivated flower with miraculous healing properties.
At an event to welcome the Ctha'nko to modern civilization and obtain the God Lily for all, the Ctha'nko launch a sudden and violent attack, killing the U.S. president and other world leaders on live television, and ushering an invasion that threatens the total annihilation of life on earth. With impossible speed, and an army that seems to materialize seconds before attacking, the Ctha'nko devastate the eastern seaboard.
The story is centered on a small family caught in the initial Ctha’nko attack. They escape by boarding a train traveling north to a rumored stronghold that contains the only means of defeating the Ctha'nko.
The Bridge Between Stars is a nightmare come to life. A haunting tale of a family’s will to survive at all costs, even when hope is lost, and a love that spans galaxies.
Anyone who is intrigued by the potential for spatial anomalies will be mesmerized by The Bridge Between Stars. Mr. Hibbard drops the reader into this time continuum feet first and running fast! The action is immediate and ongoing. I especially liked the way area locales and current events were linked to each incident, as well as to the overall scenario. So, whether a fantastic story or a possible world of the future, Mr Hibbard has written an amazing spine-tingling yet hopeful experience. My eyes were glued to the page!
I am one of Derrick Hibbard's biggest fans and I thoroughly enjoyed this, his latest book. The Bridge Between Stars took me to a entire new level, it was filled with so many twist and turns. I just couldn't stop reading it....what a page turner. If you like books filled with suspense, romance , thrills and chills then you'll love this book.I was totally enthralled and I highly recommend this page turner.
If this book was a movie it would be the kind of movie with non-stop action that becomes repetitive and doesn't further the plot. If you watched it you would quickly google to find out if you missed what the point was.
There was so much action and inner dialogue that I had to skim read. I hate skim reading because I like to enjoy my books. Anyways, eventually we get to the last few pages and are rewarded with a very vague info dump and preaching.
My favorite kinds of books are ones that make me suspend belief, this book probably tried to do that but I was too frustrated with the inner dialogue of two people so over the top in love I wanted to strangle them.
I gave two stars instead of one because it was well written, free of typos, and I do believe this is actually a good author. That said, Ive given 4 syars to freebie Amazon books that didnt even have editors. They were great stories. Id rather stumple over typos to get a good story than be forced to skim read to reach a pointless ending.
A fan of the supernatural and the apocalypse I found this book filled both of my cups. The father, Greyson, reminded me of my own experiences taking care of my children and wanting them to be safe in a crisis. The book really brings in the human spirit of survival and the spirituality that a higher force is out there driving the salvation of the human race. There are moments that the book runs at a fast and intense pace making you want to jump to the next chapter and then slows down for wonderful and touching moments of parenting and survival. I loved the book, had a hard time putting it down. I have been a follower of the author for a number of years and have loved all his books. This is one book I have been recommending to everyone because of how fun the adventure is and the message hidden beneath it. At times I felt like I was reading Journey to the Center of the Earth, because of the science fiction and adventure of it. No mad scientist in this one, but a story of real survival and shock from an unbelievable situation.
Interesting and original storyline. Very fast paced like some dan brown novels. About a group of extraterrestrials come to destroy an already dying earth. Loved the characters and plot.
I really liked this book, even though it was a bit different than I thought it would be. It takes place at the end of the world, but it’s different than most apocalyptic books I’ve read. The scope is very narrow, with most of the events happening without a big picture idea of what is go on. Instead, the story follows a family, reacting to the apocalyptic events. The story moves along very quickly and I found it hard to put down. Knocked off a star because the ending felt rushed. Overall, very good and I would recommend.
It took me a while to get into this book, and for the first 50 pages I was just kind of slogging through it. Then, Bam!, it got so good I couldn't put it down. Throughout reading, I kept thinking that this would make an excellent action movie, a big summer blockbuster type. But with all that, this book, at its core, is a love story. The love Ami and Greyson have for each other, and their children, is what what drove the story and kept me engaged. The ending was bittersweet and made me sad and happy all at the same time.
