An ancient scroll written in code is discovered in a New York museum. Selena Connor is called in to break the code and translate the writing. She's a world-class linguist, a member of the secretive, covert operations team known as the Project. The scroll reveals clues to a treasure collected by King Solomon to build and maintain the First Jewish Temple. Hidden somewhere in the desert lands of Israel is a vast hoard of gold, the heritage of a nation. Director Harker of the project sends the team out to see if they can discover where the treasure is hidden. Selena is determined to quit the dangers of the field, but this looks like a pleasant change from the usual mission. It's just a simple, archaeological expedition, after all. But nothing that involves the Project is ever simple. Betrayal, murder, and shadowy enemies stalk the expedition, as Selena and her teammates follow the clues revealed by the scroll. Meanwhile, back in New York where it all began, a sinister plan is unfolding. Will the Project survive their enemies and find Solomon's gold? Can they stop a plot that will kill two of the world's most important leaders and thousands of unsuspecting victims? The issue is in doubt…
I like Barbados rum, old, fast motorcycles, playing guitar and books by authors like Michael Connelly, Robert Crais, Alex Berenson, Craig Johnson and Lee Child. I write action/adventure thrillers. WHITE JADE is the first in a series featuring the PROJECT, a small, elite counter-terrorism unit. There are currently 23 books in the series. href="http://www.goodreads.com">ale...
“Solomon’s Gold” by Alex Lukeman is the 15th entry in his popular "Project" Series. I have enjoyed all of the Project Books. As with many action type books, you simply have to suspend credibility a little, and just enjoy the story. If you are looking for a new action series to try, I would certainly recommend Lukeman's series. However, I strongly suggest that you begin with the first book so you can appreciate the character development more.
Selena Connor is called in to break the code and translate an ancient scroll which is written in code. The scroll reveals clues to a treasure collected by King Solomon and hidden somewhere in the desert lands of Israel ~ the heritage of a nation. The Americans mount an expedition; however, sinister murders happen and others are after the treasure as well.
I love all of these books and this one will keep you reading until the end. Lukeman is a good story teller and his plots, as with many “action” books, can get farfetched. Regardless, the plots are well crafted and his characters are dynamic. Thus, it is best to start at the beginning and watch their evolution. So why not just suspend reality for a while, relax, read, and enjoy the ride. That is far more enjoyable thing to do then sort socks. I really enjoy this series and recommend it to you.
I liked this addition to the Project series (3.5 stars). It's not up there at the top of action books, but there's always a good adventure and I like the characters (and Freddie!). As with all the books, there are usually some big holes. It seems that in every one this crack government agency never thinks to be on the lookout for someone that might be following them, and seem so surprised when they show up. In every book! Think they would learn to pay attention to that possibility.
As I said even with the glaring missteps in all the books, I do enjoy them. Maybe next time they should add a couple of body guards to the team to watch their backs.
SPOILER BELOW
And there are some other issues - such as when they were at the 'safe house'. Well, it's a 'safe house' after all so let's not have anyone actually standing guard... and oh, let's see, let's leave the back door unlocked!! Really? And when we find the treasure, let's let everyone go down in the really big hole without leaving anyone to stand guard, because we don't need to worry about anyone following us and maybe trapping us down there. Whew, thank goodness Nick kept some of the C4.
5******Stars Book: Solomon’s Gold Series: The Project Series #15 Author: Alex Lukeman Published: Amazon Digital Services Genre: Special Ops Thriller Rated: Mature Pages: 232 Release July 9, 2017
Oh Alex, we meet again! Is it 15 already? Seems like we just met…. President Rice in office, Elizabeth Harker at the helm, Nick and his twitchy ear, Selena thrust from beautiful rich young woman to join the men of the Project Team. We worried she wouldn’t keep up, that the men would be stronger, and now we know better.
We have Freddie now, and I love this new addition, along with a new President who will hopefully use this Black Ops gang to the fullest for our country. He can see now their worth as we follow this well-done story. Again, you nailed it, the mission, the countries, the stealth. Book 14 High Alert I told you I would follow you forever….Still goes.
As always the Project is on the scene when needed. Glad the new president is seeing their worth. This time Nick and the group are going to find the burial of King David and the gold buried with him. The Jewish Museum in New York has a scroll that Selena and "Freddie" can help with which gives them an idea of where to start looking. The Israelis are not happy at all when the group is attacked as they begin their search. Some one is there to attack ahead of them at each site in the journey. Who could it be? Does it have something to do with a Jewish conference coming up in New York City? The answers come slowly but there is a price to pay for the answers they get. Great read!
Whew! What an adventure, or I should say series of adventures.
As I work my way through the Project series I come to respect Alex Lukeman more and more. His imagination is astounding and I have never been disappointed with his attention to detail and marvellous pacing. It was good to see the narrator, Jack de Golia get a well-deserved shoutout in the end comments. His skills are truly outstanding, and bring an additional ‘cinematic’ sense of drama to Alex’s writing. While Alex keeps writing, I’ll keep reading his intense thrillers that I recommend unreservedly. On to Book 16 . . .
Another great instalment by Lukeman. Nothing could possibily go wrong............. unless Carter Lamont and co happen to be travelling. This instalment keeps you gripped based biblical tales from the furthest page to the lady. Sadly the bad guys premise is all too east to take place anywhere in NATO/ 5eyes countries, as people have to go about their normal lives. Roe lib the next instalment
As well written, well paced drama and gripping as any in this marvellous series. A nice twist or two, The only issue is the book wasn't long enough. Some of the stories within the story could have been expanded on. While much of this is a 5 Star read, the lack of expansion in certain quarters gives a hint of rushed to the development.
That aside, I'm still looking forward to the next in the series as ever.
Whatever would they do without Freddie? As usual, it's improbable that the team could find something in a few days that people have been searching for since forever. Or that they could locate the bombers n NYC. But it's still a great read that moves along at a quick pace.
An ancient transcript, a scroll has been found. Is it Solomon's treasure? The scroll is authentic. The "Project" a clandestine team who very few people know about are sent to Israel to investigate. The problem is, the Iranians are aware of the scroll. The race is on!! This is an extremely fast paced action thriller. I enjoyed tremendously!
Another good book from this author. The Project team is asked to look at an ancient scroll to see if they can crack the coded message. They do and it talks of where King Solomon hid his gold. The Iranian's also crack the code and the two interact trying to find the location. In the meantime, the Iranian's are planning on a bombing in New York. I enjoy this series.
I love all of these books and this one will keep you reading until the end. If you haven't read this series, this one will have you start from the beginning. Great book!
In addition to the content of the stories I have become engaged with the characters. I like that Alex is developing a more personal story for Elizabeth and I'd like to see more being done with the others. I cannot wait for the next book.
Five stars for consistency. This series consistently delivers solid entertainment, great characters, and an easy read. Kudos to Mr Lukeman and I'll wait patiently for the next one.
Love the series! Exciting fun read with a great storyline. Well written and without annoying grammatical errors too. I'd start with the first in the series and work your way through them all.
If you are looking for a quick adventure thriller, Alex Lukeman's got your book. I have read 15 of the Project Books. They are similar to James Rollins's Sigma Force thrillers, both excellent series.
Enjoying those with Selena, in this to decipher an ancient scroll. A good series, and good narration. Given audio for my voluntary review and my honest opinion
Nick and the team are back, Selena has announced her limited role with the team, right before they all go on a mission, this mission should be a easy one just a in and out translating mission, but we all know how that works for the team, and soon we find the body count rising, and the race is on, but who will get there first?
Alex Lukeman did not slow down the pace any with this the fifteenth book in the series, there is just as much if not more action in this book than the first. The suspense is just as thick as well, it will have you on the edge of your seat. If you are lucky enough to have the audio version narrated by Jack de Golia you are really in for a treat. He has way of making you loose yourself in the book and making you feel like you are a part of the team, there with them on the missions. Jack de Golia makes each character separate, he is such a talented narrator I will be looking for other books he has narrated.
A scroll is found that gives clues to a fortune of gold and King David's burial place. Nick and the members of the Project go to Israel to look for the treasure. The big problem is people are trying to kill them. After finding the gold they go back to the US and find out about plots to kill many people
