Stuck together on Raincheck’s Summer Tour, Ty is trying to stay away from her. But it’s getting harder every day.

Liv Madison just wants to work on her Master’s thesis and have some fun this summer. Which is the exact reason she’s tagging along as her best friend Gabe performs on Raincheck’s tour. Can a friend’s brother actually live with you and love you without anything else going on? Friendships can be hard to come by so Liv didn’t want to do anything to mess up their special bond. Going out on tour with Gabe’s band for a few months sounded like so much fun; spending time with your friends and listening to some great music. The headlining band, Raincheck, was led by a very good looking guy named Ty. Ty had been through a lot and wanted nothing to do with this girl who surprised him in his bunk on the bus. All Liv was doing when confronted with a very angry Ty was taking a nap in Gabe’s bunk before they left for the tour. The only problem was Liv had picked the wrong bus to get on in the first place.

Between Gabe, Ty and Liv this story kept me engrossed over what and how was this going to work out for them especially since it was Ty who was giving Gabe’s band a break by claiming a spot on Raincheck’s tour? This author wasn’t afraid to mess with my heart because it was broken and put back together so many times that it was exhausting. She also made me hold out for hope and giving me the HEA I was looking for.

I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley for a freely given and honest review.

This is an engaging and very fun read for those who enjoy adult romances, especially intriguing love triangles and snappy dialogue. I liked the "will-she, won't-she" thread throughout. Set in the whirlwind of a rock tour, Liv begins to fall in love with the one person on the tour that she doesn't like - at least not at first. But her feelings for Raincheck's lead singer Ty Benson aren't the only problem for her. Her best friend Gabe, with whom she's engaged in some mild subterfuge, has begun developing feelings of his own for her. Will Liv choose the steady and handsome Gabe or the sexy, deceptively tough Ty? It's definitely worth your while if you're a romance buff - and be prepared for an emotional rollercoaster that won't step until you get to the end!

A fun, sexy, and yes, at times, maddening read. The characters were fun and flirty and real; the sex was, well, sexy; yet some of the indecision and flip-flopping was maddening. Their angst drew me in and I wanted to reach into the pages and shake them. ;) I can understand emotions getting the best of us and sometimes taking away our rational thought. Sweet ending that gave me more to think on with anticipation for stories with the secondary characters.

Rockstars, young people on the road, miscommunications; all ingredients for a good story. Raincheck by Marlo Lanz has all those things, and more. From what I can see, this is the author’s debut book, and I’m pleasantly surprised; I’ve enjoyed reading the story of Ty and Liv.
“I hated the way Ty made me feel. It was like a whirlwind of emotions when we were together. He could drive me from furious to astonished in mere seconds. And it was maddening.”

Liv is a serious student who’s working on her master thesis. As a summer vacation she decides to join her dear friend and roommate Gabe while he tours with Raincheck, one of the hottest bands of the moment. To protect her from ‘wild rockstars’, she and Gabe pretend to be in a committed relationship, which isn’t that hard since they know each other so well. Getting to know the real Ty, not the version portrait by the tabloids, makes Liv question their decision.

After the fallout with his ex-fiancé Ty isn’t interested in women anymore. Well, he had his wild period after the breakup, but now he’s trying to be good, no more booze, no more hookups with too eager groupies. Just enjoying his music and touring with his band. The ‘girlfriend’ from a guy of one of the supporting acts makes him feel things he shouldn’t feel, but he can’t stay away from her.
“She wanted me to kiss her. I could feel it. I bit the inside of my lip, warring inside, knowing this was wrong. Knowing that I should walk away before things went too far.”

Raincheck is a rockstar romance, but beside the music also Liv's study plays an important role. The story is told in a double POV, and given what happens throughout the book I’m glad the author has written it this way. Raincheck has its funny moments, but there’s enough angst and moments you want to shake some sense into the characters. Are there clichés? Yes, there are, but since this is a debut book and I like the author’s writing-style, I don’t mind that much.

Some of Liv and Ty’s actions made me shake my head, but I can ‘forgive’ them for some of those. They meet under not so normal circumstances, which makes it hard to get to know each other. Add to that Liv’s fake relationship with her best friend, a mean ex-fiancé and miscommunication and you have a disaster in the making. Peeps, please… Talk to each other, don’t assume things, don’t listen to meddling people! But then again, Liv and Ty are young, and young people make mistakes (and hopefully learn from them). I love Ty and Liv as a couple, they just make sense.
“There was something between us right from the start. Something that I’ve never felt with anyone before. Liv, you have my heart and my love. Always.” “You’re my other half.”

So I’ve read my fair share of rockstar romances over the past year or so. It tends to be my go-to type of romance book. Raincheck is an entertaining read. It wasn’t the best one I’ve read but I definitely wanted to keep reading to find out what happened with Ty and Liv. The characters are well written and once you get to know him you can’t help but fall in love with Ty. I don’t want to give anything away so I’ll be vague in stating that some of the anger went on longer than it needed to. Also Gabe’s nickname for Liv annoyed me. But apart from that I recommend reading Raincheck especially if you are a rockstar romance fan.

*1.5 stars

This contains spoilers but I wouldn't ever recommend this book for enjoyment purposes so just read this and enjoy my rant.

I do NOT like this book! At all. For three main reasons:

The Plot

This plot is the most cliché plot I could have imagined. It was like every sort of cliché from a romantic film was spoon-fed into it. It was tacky and unbelievable I cannot understand how someone can connect with it (although I am aware and respect those people who do). This book reminded me very much of After which (against general consensus) I don't like however after reading this I would rate After so much higher. It was typical girl falls in love with bad boy and it really didn't work.

The Characters mainly Ty fucking Benson
For anyone to read this book and find Ty Benson any of the following: attractive, lovable, romantic I'm sorry but you may have issues. I have never met a more manipulative character in my 15 (give or take) years I have been able to read. Forget about the fact that the story jumps from Ty and Liv's first meeting where they hate each other to 3 weeks later when Ty is suddenly in love with her. Lanz I would have understood if you included the development of his love, I might have even enjoyed this book but no Sir. Ty for the most part of this book STALKS Liv. He stalks her. Red flag waving there. He doesn't leave her alone when she repeatedly makes it clear she doesn't want to talk to him. HOWEVER she starts to develop feelings for him because of this. What. I have bookmarked at least 30 pages in this book where Ty's actions have made me feel so very uncomfortable. He abuses his position as a musician to trap and trick Liv into falling in love with him. He lies to her yet she doesn't seem to mind. He physically corners her several times when she doesn't want to be with him and on a number of occasions grabs her which is a NO for me.

AND THEN after all HE has done she feels bad and as though SHE treated him badly and HE lets her feel this way. This relationship is far from romantic.

Overall I don't really like any of the character's Liv, whilst not deserving of how she is treated, is stubborn and just...stupid. The other characters are quite clearly implanted for the plot and nothing really works.

The Relationships
Everyone's in love with everyone in this book making it even more ridiculous. Reading the description of this book I was expecting a love triangle but I was disappointed. Aaahhh no. I'm so glad to be done with this book.

I don't often read romance novels, but I'm glad I downloaded this one. The story was well-written, witty, and engaging. Ms. Lanz did a great job getting me inside the heads of her characters, and let me really feel their emotions. Bravo!

Thanks to @marlo_lanz for providing me a copy of her book for an honest review! It allowed me to read outside of my comfort zone! I enjoyed and flew through it!

This book travels between two points of view. Ty, a handsome singer who has had his share of women. Despite being able to get any girl and wanting a break from women, he falls head over heels for Liv. However, things get complicated when Liv doesn’t reciprocate his feelings and appears to have a relationship of her own with another member of the tour.

Will Liv finally see that she is the one and only for Ty, or is she content to take her relationship with her best friend to the next level?

I enjoyed the alternating points of view and the drama that was created by this love triangle. It had me wanting to shake them and root for them at the same time.

Romance readers are sure to enjoy this fast-paced, intense, love story!

First things first, let's talk about the breathtaking cover of RainCheck! It is SO beautiful, that I decided to dive into Raincheck without second thoughts. I was wishing from the start, that it would live up to my expectations as the blurb sounded divine! And I happily admit that I enjoyed this rock star romance thoroughly. I couldn't put it down!

Meet Liv, who is doing her master in thesis and enjoys shopping & food very much!! She's tall, Hazel eyed & straightforward person. This summer, Liv gets a chance to witness the sensational tour with band 'Raincheck' & 'Diesel'.
Diesel is owned by her best friend & roommate Gabe. He's strong built, handsome and just the ideal guy she could dream of. Not to mention great bonding with each other's families too. But the problems starts piling up when:
1. Liv starts finding Ty (Lead singer of Raincheck) attractive!
2. Gabe offers to take their friendship to the next level!

Who would she choose?
This is one story that made me feel all warm and fuzzy, while being extremely sizzling hot at the same time. The love scenes between the protagonists were absolute delightful to read. The book is written in double POV, Ty's POV made me see that sometimes, how difficult live's can be for superstars, there is always a reason why a person appears to so. I LOVED the first half of the book, the thing that striked me odd in the secondary chapters was Ty's, diplomatic & manipulative behavior, it didn't feel right at times as he used his money & power to be around Liv even when she clearly wanted space. I wish the ending could have been a little more different...

All in all: I'd totally recommend Raincheck for some good romance. Also, did I mention how sexy this was? Because DAMN. I can't wait to read more from this author. This was her debut novel. <3

This book is a bit of a conundrum for me. It wasn't particularly great, it was rife with cliches and excessive drama and the characters made me crazy with their immaturity and lack of communication. That being said, the author still managed to grab hold of my attention, so much so that I read this book in one sitting. I couldn't put it down. I had to know what was going to happen.

This is toted as a rockstar book, and while two of the main characters are rockstars, I feel that some of the other plotlines overrode that. Liv is a grad student, tagging along with her best friend, Gabe, on his summer tour. She's hoping for a summer filled with fun, while working on her thesis on the side.

Things start off on rocky note when Liv finds herself accidentally napping in Ty's bunk, the lead singer of Raincheck, and he freaks out. Gabe has the brilliant idea of telling everyone Liv is his girlfriend to keep Ty from kicking her off the tour. She's forbidden from coming near him again. But he keeps showing up wherever she is. Gabe turns into a raving lunatic when he realizes that things are heating up between Liv and Ty.

There's lots of ups and downs, and the lack of communication has all the characters having breakdowns. I raged, I laughed, I swooned, I rolled my eyes. This book had me all over the place. Despite all that, I still enjoyed this book. I also enjoyed some of the secondary characters and wouldn't mind reading their stories, should the author ever decide to write them.

I don’t normally read contemporary romance but I read this book after hearing about it from a friend. I really enjoyed it! I loved the witty dialogue between Liv and Ty, and authentic friendship between Liv and Gabe. The characters were fun, the sex was sexy, and the indecision heartfelt and believable. I’m looking forward to book two! 4.5 stars

I think it was the Dr Vegan vs Dr Vegen that was the last straw for me LOL.

This book needed some heavy editing and formatting. And the pet names were just cringe. Sigh.

This book is about a girl and a rocker.  Sounds like many other books, right?  Not Really.  This book takes the typical rocker romance and throws in a best friend turned fake boyfriend, a tour bus, and some crazy misunderstandings to keep you thinking the entire time you are reading.  Right from the beginning I was wondering what the heck was going to happen next.  No matter the feelings of those involved, it looked hopeless.  Then things would change, and they would look even more hopeless.  I was beginning to think things would never work out.  But this is a romance, and what is a romance without a HEA, right?
Ty is a not so typical rocker.  He is genuinely a good guy, with a crappy past.  He is so confused about what he wants.  He doesn't know why Liv affects him the way he does.  He doesn't understand why he feels compelled to be around her (stalker, much?  Just kidding, kind of.)  But the more he is around her, the more he likes what he sees.
Liv is a woman who knows what she wants, and isn't afraid to work for it.  But she has no luck with guys.  After a less than impressive first meeting with Ty, and then the whole boyfriend that isn't really a boyfriend fiasco, it doesn't seem to be getting any better.
This book seems to be one comedic error after another.  I couldn't help but laugh, even though at the same time I felt bad for Liv and Ty.
This is the first book written by Marlo Lanz, which I totally enjoyed.  I'm looking forward to seeing what else this fantastic new author comes out with.

The story of Ty and Liv is witty, sarcastic, romantic and full of drama. It was interesting and I enjoyed the play between these characters and their friends. That being said, there was a bit much in the unnecessary drama department. A little more creative communication would have gone a long way in resolving things without the nonsense. Still, I liked their story overall and would be up for seeing what becomes of some of the other kindled romances that began on the sidelines in 'Raincheck'.

I found all the characters involved to be incredibly immature despite two beginning PhD programs in psychology. If they were freshman in college, I would buy their immaturity but to make it this far into their education in this field it just doesn't fit.

Ty was so incredibly manipulative throughout the book that I find it hard to believe that anyone could love him. He manipulated everything: Gabe, Liv, Piper, Liv's education, Liv's future and even risked the future of his band (how he can be so popular and still work an on the campus teaching assistant job makes no sense to me). He played with people's lives and didn't care who he hurt as long as he got what he wanted. And in the end he did. The author shows us if you want something bad enough just manipulate everything until you get it.

By the way this book is $6.99 on Amazon for a digital version. There's no way I would ever consider paying that much for a digital book unless it was absolutely amazing. Save your money...this isn't worth it.

I loved the relationship triangle between Ty, Liv and Gabe and for me it read as more a YA romance, setting up a good girl with a bad boy and a confused best friend. There was fantastic, fun, witty and sassy dialog between all the characters, each getting their time to show their personalities and to see why they were attracted to each other.

I got a little bit distracted and annoyed in the middle third of the novel where Liv, Gabe and Ty were confused about their emotions, their overwhelming feelings weren't being listened too, and it seemed full of mistrust - it maddened me and for Liv who we were told was incredibly smart, she just seemed so dense (as love can do to us!!)

A lovely HEA story, my daughter would most likely have loved it more than I did :-)

This summer is supposed to be the greatest experience ever for Liv. Before it even starts she pisses off one of the guys in the band heading the tour. With one little fib to keep her on the tour begins a complicated lie. Pretending to date her best friend is the only way to stay on the tour. That and avoiding Ty Benson.

Ty realizes he should avoid Liv. They definitely got off on the wrong foot, not to mention she is dating one of the guys from their opening act. He knows all this but there is just something about her. He begins following her to the coffee shops she goes to on the breaks between shows.

As Ty and Liv become closer, they can’t fight the attraction. Unfortunately, because of Liv’s complicated relationship with her best friend she is torn about what to do. Should she give a relationship with her best friend a real try or should she follow the pull that comes with Ty. In the end, who will find a way to be together? Or will love fall to the wayside. It was supposed to be the greatest experience after all.

This was a really great book. I enjoyed the love triangle and the angst. However, I’d say the only complaint I would have would be that sometimes it got to be a bit much. Liv became too consumed with being stubborn and Ty became a bit too manipulative to get his way. In the end certain aspects of that were ignored when in reality they would have been more important some of the other aspects that made Liv mad. The side characters of Piper, Gabe and Laina were quite enjoyable. Especially, Laina, Liv’s other best friend and Gabe’s sister. She cut to the chase when Liv and Ty were dancing around each other. Overall, it was an enjoyable read. I’d recommend this for anyone looking for an angsty rock and roll romance. I look forward to the next book that I hope will be Gabe’s!

I finished reading a day ago and the characters are still on my mind. That's how I know that Raincheck is a good book.

The author, Marlo Lanz, sent me a free copy in exchange for an honest review. The romance is about Liv, a witty masters student who I would best describe as the girl next door. She is forced to choose between Gabe, her best friend, and Ty, the guy she just met. Both men are sexy. Gabe is sweet, caring, and safe. Ty is a rockstar, moody, womanizing, dangerous. But, there is more to him than meets the eye. The more Liv gets to know him, the less obvious her choice becomes.

I loved the "will she, won't she" aspect of this story. It was exciting and maddening at the same time. I kept coming back for more. As a Canadian, I was happy to see the dialect and BC setting. I enjoyed Marlo's writing style. Reading the story from both Liv and Ty's perspectives was perfectly descriptive. I wasn't confused about the characters and the plot. All loose ends were nicely tied together.

The sex scenes were raw and definately steamy but mostly involved foreplay. Liv said that she would go "all the way" with the man that she loved. However, we don't see that when she makes her choice in the end. I would have liked to see just one more love scene.

Overall, a fun and entertaining romance. 4 stars! I look forward to reading more from Marlo.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of the book.

I enjoyed this book way more than I was expecting - I found myself making excuses to get out of other tasks just so that I could continue reading. Raincheck was engaging from the very beginning - Liv is a very likable character and relatable character and clues as to Gabe's feelings for her are laid from the start, leading to an angsty and entertaining love triangle of sorts. The introduction of Ty is funny and his reaction to her is endearing, while Liv's perception of both men and their feelings and intent is adorably oblivious. Not only does the book feature a love triangle, it has a fake relationship element as well - though I felt that that aspect was held on to for a bit too long. The pacing was fantastic (not too fast and not too slow) until the last 30 - 40% and then it really did drag which changed my rating. It got to the point where I didn't understand the point of dragging out the book and I found myself rushing through it. I still really enjoyed the story and see great potential for a series here - Marlo Lane is a talented writer and I loved her story telling style. 3.5 out of 5 wine glasses.

Raincheck by Marlo Lanz, made it onto my reading list, as in 2017 I made a resolution to read more novels that wouldn't usually make it onto my bookshelf. Romance is something I always avoid, so I picked up this one as the kindle price was so reasonable. I might be picking up more romance in future as this love triangle-based novel was really entertaining...a total guilty pleasure. What girl wouldn't want to be in Liv's position, with two gorgeous guys, vying for her attention? Well in fact it isn't as great as it sounds, but she certainly has some fun in parts. Wink, wink.

Humor, heartbreak, tension and betrayal, make up this saucy, seductive novel, which would make it the perfect stocking filler or birthday gift for the romance lover in your life. Or just treat yourself for an afternoon with your feet up.

Raincheck by Marlo Lanz is a fun little romp of a book about the rock and roll industry, and all of the crazy relationships that are part of that industry. From Liv who just wants to tour with her friend Gabe's band Raincheck, to Ty, who is downright cute and sexy, this is a mashup of fun characters and enough sexual tension to drown in. While the characters may come across as a little immature, they are still interesting, if only for their interactions with each other, and how manipulative they can be. Ty is probably the worst of the manipulators, but ultimately Gabe is too, to some degree. With these kind of complications, Liv doesn't know what to do, or who to fall for. Overall, a fun book, that takes a less than serious look at rock and roll, relationships, and the ties that bind. A light read for a fun diversion.

Those with a fondness for romance novels with a little bit of extra spice, will certainly fall for Raincheck by Marlo Lanz. This adult novel has plenty to keep the romance aficionados interested and engaged right up to the last page. The writing was decent and the pacing was spot on, with plenty of plot twists and tension that made it quite the page turner. The book focuses on a tour of the band Raincheck, fronted by the charismatic ladies man, Ty. He finds his head turned when Liv board the tour bus with her friend Gabe, a member of the supporting band. What follows in an intense and racy love story that will keep you guessing until the final pages.

What a great book. A wonderful and enjoyable read. Highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a love story and the conflict when the heroine misunderstands what she thinks she sees and misconstrues the hero to have lied to her. It is a book I know I will read again and again. Marlo is an excellent author and look forward to all her upcoming books. Thank you Marlo. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
