Elle Mitchell has a gift when it comes to fixing cars. As a talented auto mechanic, she’s taken her share of guff from her male counterparts. When she accepts a job in Harley Holt's new Sapphire Falls auto garage, she expects more of the same, but she’s determined to prove she can handle the tough world of high performance engine repair on her own, away from the overbearing eye of the brother who taught her everything.
Ex-motorcycle racing champ Harley Holt has made the switch to stock car racing, and his new automotive garage is small but integral to his plans for raising interest in his favorite sport. He has no qualms about hiring a woman, his bottom line is ability. His only sexist mistake was assuming she wouldn’t be attractive!
Although Elle makes a few wrong assumptions about her new boss when he plows through her first hours in Sapphire Falls at breakneck speed, she quickly learns what a stand-up guy he actually is. After that, it’s a smooth transition to full-blown romance. But it’s too easy. Shouldn’t there be obstacles? Shouldn’t there be fights and making up on the road to love? As they plan a huge new race event for the annual Sapphire Falls summer festival there’s none of those things—just a swift and passionate love affair.
And then, Harley’s search for a sponsor bears fruit. Unfortunately, when new faces chosen by the benefactor start to change things in a race car that could endanger Harley’s life, Elle’s expertise pits her against everyone on the team. Unless she can find a way to convince Harley she’s fighting for him and not her own ego, the new confidence she’s worked so hard to find could prove to be the insurmountable obstacle to a happy future both she and Harley feared.
Award-winning and No.1 Bestselling author Lizbeth Selvig writes heartwarming contemporary romance. Whether set in the Scottish Highlands, a huge ranch in Wyoming, a small town in Minnesota, or a Kentucky racetrack, her strong, fun and funny characters will never do the expected while finding their ways home to family and love.
Lizbeth turned to fiction writing after working as a newspaper journalist and magazine editor, raising an equine veterinarian daughter (handy, since there are usually too many horses in her stories) and a talented musician son (also handy because she’s been known to write about rock stars). She shares life in Minnesota, where her first book series is set, with her best friend (aka her husband, Jan), her two pretty horses, Jedi and Largo, three human grandchildren, and her four-legged grandbabies of which there are nearly thirty (including two alpacas, a couple of small goats, a mammoth-eared donkey, two miniature horses, a pig, and many many dogs, cats and regular-sized horses). In her spare time, she loves to hike, quilt, read, and ride horses. An incorrigible extrovert, she also loves connecting with readers—so contact her any time.
Going Zero to Sixty is a fast paced, entertaining engaging story!!! All the characters are vivid, colorful, realistic and well defined. You will feel the main characters interactions as they move from dislike, distrust at the beginning to caring and trusting each other ending by falling in love. The story covers the truths about life with family trials, love, joy and danger, not so honest investors, thrills, chills, humor, romance and surprises. Description is deftly woven into the story by taking the reader on the ferris wheel, to a baseball game, going through the haunted house, watching fireworks and driving race track with the characters. Elle Mitchell is starting a new life away from her family. She has taken a job in Sapphire Falls which is a friendly and magical place. It is a place where strangers are accepted into part of the community family. Elle works in a man's world as an auto repair mechanic. Her job is in a car repair shop run by Harley Holt. Will Elle fit in with the men in the repair shop? Will Elle's life find independence and fulfillment? Be sure to read!!!! I volunteered to read Going Zero to Sixty. Thanks to the author for the opportunity. My opinion is my own.
Lizbeth Selvig accomplished the impossible. She dared to be different. Going Zero to Sixty is a breath of fresh air. The author never loses her sense of humor while tearing down sexism and inspiring female readers. Elle symbolizes an independent spirit. She's not afraid to listen to her heart. Not just in professional matters but personal ones as well. In a town known for it's friendly atmosphere she makes her mark by just being herself. A valuable lesson in a tiny package.
If you have ever sent time in a garage or at a race track, you will fall hard for Harley Holt and Elle Mitchell. Anyone who enjoys small town life will also find themselves in love with this series.
Elle feels the need to begin a new life without the daily scrutiny of her beloved big brother. She knows she is a talented auto mechanic and wants to prove to herself that she has what it takes to be among the best. She moves to a town where she knows no one and soon finds new friends and her life purpose and passion. Her new boss, former motorcycle racer Harley Holt, who happens to be easy on the eyes, also seems to fit perfectly into her life. Can what comes together too easily stay together for the long haul?
Characters you'll fall in love with and relationship tension and issues I could relate to easily. This is a perfect escape read for the track or the beach.
I am grateful to the authors of this series for giving me a chance to read a couple of the books. The review opinions are my own.
I was blessed with a free copy of this book. and have chosen of my own volition to share this review with you!
Motorheads falling in love. Elle and Harley take their relationship, literally, from zero to sixty with ease. How do you maintain a budding relationship when fear and pride get in the mix.
A great read. Wish it was a bit longer...I want more of this story!
I loved Harley and Elle. As the blurb says, they were perfect together instantly. Elle seriously cracked me up with her puns and tell it like it is attitude. She was a take charge go for what you want kinda girl and I loved every minute of her. Harley grew on me after his first few not so impressive scenes. But them together made this story great.
Another great Sapphire Falls book. Lizbeth Selvig never disappoints! Elle Mitchell is a woman in what is traditionally a man's world . . . She is an auto mechanic. She is good at what she does, even though she is always afraid of failing. She has always worked for her brother, Dewey, in his small auto repair shop in her home town, but she is ready to strike out on her own. Her new boss, Harley Holt, has a car repair shop in Sapphire Falls. She is hired after a phone interview.
The first 'meeting' of the boss and new employee is not exactly as either one would have wanted it. They ‘meet’ when he passes her at high speed on the highway. They meet again at the grocery store when Harley, who is always in a hurry, shoves her aside to get to the Gatorade. Then he crowds in front of her and an older lady with her arm in a sling who is in front of her in the checkout line. This cements her opinion of him as a colossal jerk! They have never met face to face, so she doesn’t realize that he is her new boss. When they finally meet, he is stunned by the beautiful mechanic that he hired sight unseen. They settle into a boss/employee relationship that eventually leads to more.
I loved this book! The characters and plot are are well-developed and believable. There are lots of laugh-out-loud situations which are a trademark of Lizbeth Selvig.
I highly recommend this book. This author is one of my favorites. I can't wait to see what happens in the next Sapphire Falls book.
Elle is everything you could want a heroine to be. She’s a feisty car mechanic who has the guts to start over in a new place with a new job. Elle does life on her own terms, and those new terms include moving to a different state to work for someone she’s never met when her work/life balance has gotten too muddy working for her older brother. Just as soon as Elle gets in the Sapphire Falls vicinity she meets her new boss, Harley. Let’s just say her first impression of Harley is completely underwhelming. There is more to Harley than meets the eye, though, and soon the ex-motorcycle racing hunk has worked his way under her skin.
The romance in Going Zero to Sixty is so, so good. A bit steamier than Selvig’s latest books, but that’s a-ok by me! Harley and Elle try their darndest to stay away from one another due to their working relationship, but resistance proved futile. The result is a lot of sexual tension and close proximity that kept me on edge until these two were able to wrap their mind around a commitment.
As with most other Selvig books, the pièce de résistance in Going Zero to Sixty is female friendship, notably multi-generational female friendship. In this book, Elle befriends Harley’s mother, Jacqueline, early on and their scenes together are incredibly sweet and poignant. Jacqueline, or Jack as she’s known to most, roots for Elle and Harley from the very beginning and even chaperones their first unofficial date at a town baseball game. The thought of the three of them sitting in the bleachers together rooting for Harley’s brother warms my heart. (And yes, this book is just as charming as it sounds.)
If you are looking for a quick read that’ll give you all the feelings, Going Zero to Sixty is for you. I finished the story feeling empowered as a woman and with a renewed sense of determination to connect with old friends. 4 stars for Going Zero to Sixty by Lizbeth Selvig!
A copy of this book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.
I love Lizbeth Selvig, I love Sapphire Falls and I love these Kindle World books. Couldn't exactly go wrong with this one! Elle is a strong female character. She is a mechanic--a woman in a man's world. She has left home to go work for a garage in another town in order to spread her wings. Unfortunately, the guy who owns the garage seems to be a super rude jerk when she meets him in and around town before she officially meets him as her boss. I'm very happy to say he redeems himself very quickly and is actually a very likable guy. Elle has to let go of her first opinions of him as he worms his way under her skin (and in her panties). Harley recognizes Elle's aptitude and expertise with a motor, but when someone offers him a way to fulfill his dream, he may throw away her advise at the risk of his own life. Elle's first instinct may be to walk away from the rebuff, but will love draw her back to his side regardless of what he does?
Ms Shelvig gives us another entertaining story in the Sapphire Falls series. In this time , we have Elle, a young woman that is an ace mechanic, newly hired by Harley. Harley owns a garage but is also looking forward to expanding his business into stock car racing. For Elle, it’s a chance to work and show her knowledge , without having her over-protective brothers all over her. It’s a new town and a new start. For Harley, it’s an opportunity to move from motorcycle racing to racing cars. These two don’t have a very good first impression of each other, but that quickly changes when sparks start between them. Aside from an entertaining and cute story, I enjoyed not only revisiting Sapphire Falls but mostly the fact that the author gives us a strong female character. A female that is not afraid to excel in a man’s world and knows her work. I was gifted this copy. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Elle and Harley to do well together. Both love cars and fixing them. He hired her to help him out but didn't expect to find love. Elle is new to Sapphire Falls. She ends up falling in love with the town and the people. The race that is going to be fun during the festival is in memory of Harley's brother. There are a lot of struggles with the Harley's sponsor and Elle but love conquers all. Love this town and the traditions during the festival.
A great addition to the Sapphire Falls. Kindle Worlds. Lizbeth Selvig has taken an unlikely heroine career, auto mechanic to the next level. Elle is new to Sapphire Falls and has taken a job in Harley's auto garage not expecting to find love in her new boss, Harley. As they work together on his new racing car, they soon find out they both more in common than fast cars.
A fun read that will have you laughing out loud. I highly recommend this book!
Absolutely fell in love with Elle and Harley and their instance connection even though Harley didn't give a very good first impression. Lizbeth did the Saphire Series well with this book it just fit right in with the rest of the series absolutely loved that. This story made me laugh and swoon well done.
Elle just wants to do her job and do it well. When Harley is at risk, she fights for what she knows is right. Will this end their budding romance and her career? I loved Elle and Harley's story. This book was very enjoyable to read, and I highly recommend it!
