Syreeta Mercer, a successful Lawyer from Atlanta, lived her life as daddy’s little girl, and she wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. She’s known only one man as her father, but two weeks after laying him to rest, she is startled by the news that this might not be her truth and everyone else’s lie. Against her mother’s wishes and warnings, Syreeta embarks on her own search that may result in more harm than good, revealing a reality from which she has been protected. Is she better off leaving well enough alone?

Jelani Graybourne was the man of many women's dreams. He’s lived a successful, mistake-free life, until he met the one mistake that was Samantha Wells. She’s made promises she always kept. Now, she’s back, and unlike her first time around, loving Jelani might not be the first thing on her mind. If she has her way, her plan could topple the foundation on which the Graybourne brand is built. Jelani was able to avoid her ruin once, but could he avert her devious plot again? Is there someone else with an equally malicious intent?

When you say the word family, that word is supposed to be synonymous words like safety, love, loyalty, trust and togetherness.  What happens when everyone in the family doesn't understand that is the way it is supposed to be?  What to you do to try to keep the family as "normal" families are supposed to be? Should this be something that is the responsibility of the head of the family or should this be something that is worked on together?

Jelani Graybourne is a lawyer at the firm of Emanuel, Sullivan and Graybourne.  He is the second Graybourne to practice there, his father Stanley Graybourne helped build the firm and now Jelani has some big shoes to fill by working there.  How does Jelani concentrate on his work when there is something in the background that could destroy his life along with bringing his family down?  Jelani is a grown man, does he run to his father for help or does he take care of this issue on his own? Since family is supposed to stick together, will the family do just that or will they crumble like the others?

Syreeta Mercer is also a great attorney.  She has her colleagues afraid to go against her in court because she comes in to win and does just that.  She gets her strength from her father Reid Mercer, he was her shoulder to cry on when the going got tough.  With the death of Syreeta's father, things went from bad to super strange.  With all of these new changes in her life, is it going to be possible to continue on the way that Syreeta has been groomed or will she crawl in a corner and cry?

One Day You Will is book number two in the J.B. Graybourne series.  This series is like riding a rollercoaster with these people.  They have you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what is going to happen next!  It is drama, drama and more drama and you just love it!  It is not messy but it makes you feel like you are peeking in your neighbor window to see what all of the fuss is about!  I enjoyed the strong story line, the characters keep you engrossed with what is going on and make you want more.  You might just catch yourself talking to the characters while reading, wishing you were right there to handle the situation for them.  I enjoy reading Clarke's work and I look forward to the next installment in this series.

This was a different read for me, but I read an ARC. This is a deep family drama that is full of surprises and satirical-like sarcasm from the key players. They have money and they have good tastes and they have the chutzpah to say what they want and mean it. I recommend to anyone that like that new Dynasty Show.

I think this book is a solid 3.5 stars. It took me a long time to read this book and not because it wasn't good, I just picked the wrong time to start reading. It also started out on the slow side in my opinion. It picked up about a fourth of the way in for me. But I am finally finished! I had not read book 1 in the series and was told that it wasn't necessary to follow along with this installment. I didn't have much trouble following along but I did feel like I wanted to read book 1 to get more insight on what led to this point. I don't know if it was from knowing this wasn't book 1 or not but I felt a little void, like something was needed to fill some gaps. There were minimal grammatical errors and an instance where a name was changed but it was changed back in later chapters. I am not sure where the new name came from I had to go back and make sure I wasn't tripping, lol. There was no shortage of drama and I only seem to recall a couple relationships that could serve as a bright light in the messiness. They however weren't the main focus. After the revelation of who was behind the exposing of skeletons, I was curious to find out the reason for some things put into play that were not explained. If there was no reason it didn't seem important to put it in the storyline. I will try to go back and read book 1 to see if the void I felt is filled. Overall well written and grabbed my attention. I was hesitant to read it because I'm not big on romance but it seemed to fit more into the drama category, so I'm glad I didn't write it off.

Hey,

Hope you’re doing well. I recently came across your story and I genuinely loved it. Your writing feels very cinematic, and it immediately made me think about how great it would be as a comic or webtoon.

I’m an artist who creates comics, manga, webtoons, character illustrations, and book covers. I’d love to be commissioned to adapt your story and bring its world and characters to life visually.

No pressure at all just wanted to share my thoughts. If you’re interested in discussing it further, feel free to reach out on Discord (bennett_lol) or Instagram (eve_verse_).

Best,
bennett.
