Definitely a 5 PAW-pect star for this book! I like the entire story and it's really fun to read how Henry had a great time exploring the Buckingham Palace. Because of his amiable and helpful personality, he won some friends, both human and canine, while he was there in the palace. We could learn from Henry that instead of fighting those who don't like you, try to return their animosity by being patient and kind.
If you're looking for something to read during the Christmas holiday, this is highly recommended because it is a light read and heartwarming at the same time.

Who doesn't love corgis (apart from amoral monsters)? I mean, just look at them:
They are goddamn adorable. So naturally when my wife got me a book about a Corgi I was thrilled. More corgis in one's life = a better life. I was not let down by this story at all, there were lots of Corgis (an aggregate of five to be specific).
So this story takes place form two points a view: the eponymous Henry (corgi) and his owner Amy Walker (human). It is a tough time for the Walker family. The father has just ditched the family for his secretary and Amy must raise their two teenage children on her own. Plus it is Christmas time. It is rough for her and made even worse when Henry ends up getting lost and mistaken for the Queen's new corgi. As you may or may not know the Queen loves corgis. She is so associated with them they make multiple appearances on the TV show The Crown.* Anyway, shenanigans ensue, friendships are made, hardships are overcome, and in the end... well, you'll just have to read this heartwarming book to find out.
Given the story's premise the book was actually pretty good. The voice of Henry was enthusiastic and empathetic (as all corgis are) while also being driven by a fierce need to be reunited with his family.
All in all an enjoyable Christmas read that warms the heart like hot chocolate warms the body.
*But are they historically accurate corgis? One very, very, VERY dedicated Corgi Truther doesn't think so and she has extensive notes supporting her case.

‘No chasing the pelicans now!’ Amy called after me, as she and the kids followed. I barked a quick reply over my shoulder. What were pelicans, anyway? I couldn’t commit to not chasing them until I’d found out. What if they were like squirrels? Squirrels were my favourite things to chase. With pigeons a close second. But I was willing to rejig the top two if pelicans were even better...Amy's voice was also very well done. You very much got a sense of her frustration, stress, and love for her family. All in all the prose was perfectly serviceable for the story. The story itself was also more nuanced then I expected with Henry and Amy having to tackle more than just reuniting the family (not with the dad though, he was a total dick in this book). There are successes and failures, twists and turns, all with the backdrop of Christmas and a very Hallmark Movie family drama.
‘We’ve seen the pelicans – let’s go see if we can catch a glimpse of their owner,’ Amy suggested. ‘I read in the paper this morning that she was heading out from the Palace later today. You never know – we might get lucky.’ I wasn’t sure how lucky it would really be to meet the owner of those terror-birds, but Claire hopped up and down on the spot, clapping her hands, so maybe I was missing something.
All in all an enjoyable Christmas read that warms the heart like hot chocolate warms the body.

A family filled with sudden sorrow losses their beloved pet. What happens to the quirky/witty pet who ends up with the other corgis in the Buckingham palace? What happens to the family ?
The idea was fun, the stories were linked well but the writing was quite boring. But anything for a corgi read I guess. If you are looking for a light read about a cute pet and a nice family then this is the book for you.

Easily one of the cutest books I've read this Christmas, and how fabulous was it to see Buckingham Palace through a dog's eyes.
The chapters alternate between Henry and Amy. Henry is a corgi, and beloved family pet of the Walker family. However on a day out in London he ends up mistaken as the new corgi for the Queen, which is where his adventure really starts.
Amy Walker is struggling to get used to life after her husband walked out on his family. She decides to try and start creating new happy memory with her children Jack and Claire (17 and 12), and takes them to Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park and then to see Buckingham Palace. Of course they were never going to take Henry disappearing without a fight and I loved seeing the ways they tried to find Henry.
I loved meeting the other dogs in the Palace, and through the eyes of Sarah, a servant that Henry befriends it was very interesting to see how the service staff at the palace treat each other, and that there is a great deal of snobbery about. Not only that but the other Corgis were looking down their noses at Henry too.
I love reading books from the eye of a animal, and Henry is as you may expect is a rather special dog, who is always trying to help any humans around him. I loved seeing Buckingham Palace through his eyes and also his family too.
This is a rather heart warming and loveable story set in the run up to Christmas. It's not overtly festive but there are some rather grand decorations, massive Christmas trees and Christmas carols. It is a story about family and how the Walkers were reacting at all times, was interesting to follow.
This is a book that made me laugh, it made me smile and it almost made me cry too - its superb.

This was such a charming book! Henry’s story was full of fun and the kind of doggy insight we like to think our dogs have when they look at us and the world. The complimenting humans’ stories gave the chance to see these issues from both the human and animal perspectives, and shows us what really matters. The cameos from the real Royal Family were fun to spot. This is probably the first “dog perspective” book I’ve read, and it’s a lovely read during the holidays.

Nachdem die Temperaturen nun merklich abgekühlt sind und es mit schnellen Schritten auf Weihnachten zugeht, mag ich ganz besonders gerne Weihnachtsromane. Wenn dann noch ein Hund die Hauptrolle spielt, kann ich gar nicht anders als zuzugreifen. Und meine Gefühl hat mich auch dieses Mal nicht getäuscht eine witzige Erzählung in den Händen zu halten.
Die Familie Walkers machen einen Spaziergang in der Nähe des Buckingham Palast um die Queen sehen zu können, bis Henry seinem eigenen Kopf leinenlos folgt und sich im dichten Gedrängel verläuft. Plötzlich sind da nicht mehr seine geliebte Menschen, sondern er hat Eingang in den Palast gefunden und das Abenteuer beginnt...
Die Geschichte wird aus zwei Perspektiven erzählt. Hier ist zu einem die Erzählung aus Amys Sicht zu nennen und die Erzählung aus der Sicht des Hundes. Ich muss sagen, es hat mir eine große Freude bereitet, auch Henrys Sichtweise auf so eine witzige und humorvolle Art kennenzulernen, wie ich es mir auch manches Mal von meinen Hunden wünschen würde. Wir erfahren so nicht nur von Henrys Gefühlen, sondern auch wie der Alltag sich zwischen den verwöhnten Palasthunden gestaltet. Henry mischt aber nicht nur die Hunde innerhalb des Palast auf, sondern mischt sich auch in Liebesdingen ein, was ich sehr süß fand. Amys Sicht auf die Dinge ist natürlich viel mehr mit einer traurigen Stimmung belegt, weil alle den kleinen Henry so vermissen und das auch noch kurz vor Weihnachten. Obwohl ich Amys Empfindungen und deren Kinder sehr gut nachvollziehen konnte, hat es die allgemeine Grundstimmung des Buches nicht in Melancholie verwandelt.
Der Gedanke, dass Henry wieder zu seiner Familie zurückfinden wird, war doch zu stark in mir verankert gewesen. Denn genau dort, gehört der kleine neugierige Corgi doch hin.
Und so ist auch das Ende sehr passend gewählt und hat mich sehr zufrieden zurückgelassen.
Mein Fazit:
Ein schöner Roman für die Vorweihnachtszeit, gerade für alle Hundefreunde oder die, die es noch werden wollen.

Life has become difficult in Henry's household. The children's father has left, and 12 year old Claire and 17 year old Jack are suffering. Henry tries to help, by snuggling with Claire as she cries alone at night, by listening to Jack as he tells his dog how he feels, and by cleaning the plates extra well before they go in the dishwasher. Unfortunately, the children's mother doesn't see Henry's actions as helpful.
It's Christmas time, and Mrs. Walker decides to take the family to Winter Wonderland, a huge fun fair in Hyde Park. Henry comes too, and everyone has a wonderful time. Hyde Park is just a short distance away from Buckingham Palace, so the Walkers decide to trek over and see if anyone is coming or going. In the huge crush of people around the palace gates, Henry gets separated from his family. While he is waiting for them, he just happens to see a pigeon on the other side of a big iron fence. I am not a fan of books that are narrated by animals, so this one already had that strike against it. I did not like the unlikeable kids, or the cheating abandoning husband/father element, so just too much to make it a very unpleasant/unlikeable read, for me to bother to continue.

I loved Henry the Queen's Corgi by Georgie Crawley. G Crawley wrote an adorable and heartwarming story about Henry, who becomes lost in London and finds himself at Buckingham Palace. Henry meets all kinds of interesting people and dogs during his stay at the palace. Henry's family is heartbroken over Henry being lost on their outing to London. Henry's family has their own set of issues during this time. This book is intended for young readers, however readers of any age will enjoy this book. It would make a fun read out loud book for a family.
I highly recommend Henry the Queen's Corgi to readers who like: stories about Corgi's, Royalty, Christmas and books with happy endings.

A wonderful Christmas story!
I really enjoyed this book. The corgi was a wonderful main character. This truly is the perfect book for a light, enjoyable fireside evening.
The premise is relatively simple. The execution is superbly well done (if this truly is a debut novel, it’s very good)! What I liked most is that this is a book everyone can enjoy; it might be simplistic but that’s part of its charm.

Henry is a Corgi belonging to a family, Jim, Amy, Jack (who is 17 years old), Claire (who's 12 years old) Walker, and a 🐈, Sookie. This book begins on Saturday, 14th of December. Jim has left Amy, his wife, for Bonnie who he's hired as his new secretary. This book is written through the thoughts of Henry and Amy from day one through day 12.
Amy wanted to create a happy family outing without Jim by taking Jack, Claire, and Henry to Winter Wonderland at Hyde Park. Amy let Henry off leash.
There was a lot of commotion. The Queen was leaving Buckingham Palace. Amy, Jack, and Claire managed to get a peek of the Queen. Henry was off leash and couldn't stand all the commotion and chaos. He managed to leave the crowd. He was found by a palace guard. The guard took Henry into the Palace and placed him in the "Corgi Room.
In the meantime, the Queen's procession ended and the crowd broke up. Amy realized that Henry was off leash and wasn't around. The Walker's looked "high and low for Henry. They returned home without him.
Henry was placed in the "Corgi Room" which was occupied by 🍬 and Vulcan who were Dorgis, half Dachshund and half Corgi, and Willow a full Corgi.
One of the Wait Staff, Candy, fed the dogs on Henry's first morning. He befriended Candy who was being bullied by Jessica because of Candy's speech dialect.
During Henry's stay at the Palace, he explored it and always ran into Candy. Candy would take Henry for walks. Candy would meet Oliver Kinchen-Willams.
One day while Claire was looking through the Sunday Paper, she was reading an article about "Christmas at Windsor Palace". Claire discovered a Corgi with a crown on his head resembling Henry.
Will the Walker's get Henry back home safely? What happens when Jessica sees Candy kiss her x-boyfriend? Luke lets Amy walk his Dalmatian, Daisy because she can't walk Henry. Does Amy and Luke find friendship and a relationship?

Henry the Queen’s Corgi is a delightful story about a corgi who gets separated from his beloved family during a holiday outing in London, who finds his way to Buckingham Palace, where he is mistaken for a new corgi the queen has just acquired. I found that seeing the palace through the eyes of this little corgi made for a fascinating read. Throughout most of the story, both Henry, the lost corgi, as well as his family, the Walkers, composed of two heart-sick children and their mother, miss each other terribly. In addition to losing their family pet during this holiday season, the Walker children are also contending with their father leaving their mother for another woman, who happens to currently be more caught up in his new love than with his children. Thus, losing Henry at this particular time only puts an extra strain on an already stressed out family. This story may be more of a story for children, but I think any reader who enjoys a sweet holiday tale or who enjoys dogs will find it very satisfying. The book alternates chapters, one using Amy, the mother, as the family voice to convey the angst of losing Henry and of the divorce, and Henry, the little corgi, as the voice to relate his adventures within the palace and his reaction to everything around him. This juxtaposition of points of view or thought provided an effective way for the author to show the reader how the family felt about losing Henry and the newness of an impending divorce as well as the wonder of the palace. I feel confident that this can easily become a holiday staple for readers and families everywhere looking for a good holiday story to get them into the holiday spirit. Sweet and fun. Henry the corgi accidentally becomes one of the royal corgis for a couple of weeks right before Christmas. He narrates his own adventures at Buckingham Palace, interspersed with chapters centered around Amy, whose husband has left her and whose kids aren't happy about the divorce and are frantic about Henry's absence.
You can easily see where the story is going. There are a couple of romantic subplots, one at the palace involving the girl who feeds the corgis, and one at home. There's plenty of fun behind-the-scenes stuff at the palace, and some intrigue with snobby servants. And even though Henry worries that he'll be turned out onto the streets when the Queen gets home and recognizes that he doesn't belong there, you know she'd never do that. It's sort of an adult version of lots of books I read as a kid, where you have fun playing along with the tension but you know everything's going to turn out just fine in the end.

It's sort of an adult version of lots of books I read as a kid, where you have fun playing along with the tension but you know everything's going to turn out just fine in the end.

This was a cute little story about Henry, a corgi who gets away from his family while on a trip to London. He ends up in Buckingham Palace, mistaken for one of the Queen's dogs, while the Queen is away. The other dogs look down on him at first, as he befriends various people on the staff (which the dogs consider 'beneath them.') The POV alternates between Henry and the mother of his family. She is trying to deal with an unfaithful husband, a teenage boy upset by his father's leaving, a 12 year old daughter, the coming of Christmas, and now the loss of their beloved dog. They are all missing Henry and take various steps to try to find him. It has a happy ending, of course, and is a charming light read.

This is the time of year when I like to read cute or romantic Christmas books. This falls into the cute category. I enjoyed reading about the adventures of Henry the Corgi who accidentally gets mistaken for a royal corgi and stays in the palace for some days before Christmas. I'm not enamored with the dog-narrated chapters, but I don't know how else the story could have been told. The ending was happy so I was glad I read the book. I wouldn't read others in the series, because it's just not my cup of tea. I think my favorite part was when Henry gets chased through the palace on the day when a huge pre-Christmas breakfast is being prepared. He seems to enjoy causing mayhem for a good cause.

Henry the Queen's Corgi was a fun, heartwarming read, about a Corgi, that gets separated on a trip to London, and finds his way into Bucking Ham Palace and is mistaken for the new corgi that the Queen had taken on a trip but the staff didn't know. The story alternates from Henry's perspective to Amy, his owner who is going through a marriage break-up and her struggles to make ends meet leading up to Christmas when Henry disappears.
Yes, it is very predictable in places, but it is a feelgood book that fits easily alongside many Christmas holiday movies that people sit around and watch at this time of year.

1. I didn’t know what to expect from this but it was actually pretty delightful.
2. Told through multiple perspectives, Henry the Corgi was my favorite.
3. He gets separated from this family and lumped in with the Queen’s dogs and has to find his way home but not before helping some humans and dogs out with some pretty big issues in Buckingham Palace along the way.
4. This was a well-written, whimsical, love story told mostly by a dog and I am surprised to say I highly recommend this.

This is such a cute book about Henry the Corgi that goes missing in London and his adventures at Buckingham Palace. Henry gets into so much mischief whilst there. He makes some new dogs friends whilst he is there and he also helps to people to fall in love. This book was so very easy to read and get though but sadly halfway though the book I did get board as it was quite repetitive in some parts. Then ending when Henry come home had me smiling so much and the way the family was so excited to get him home. Such an enjoyable read. Xxx

A lovely heartwarming Christmas story about a corgi that gets lost in London, but finds his way to Buckingham Palace.
The adventures he has there are well written and very witty.
This is an ideal story to read aloud on dark Christmassy evenings with something comforting to drink!

This was such a lighthearted read! The book goes from Henry’s perspective to his owner Amy. Henry is charming, cute, helpful, and a friendly little guy. He stole my heart! The ending was predictable which is why I was shocked I was bawling through the last four or so chapters 😭 (in a heartwarming/good way of course). This is the PAWfect book to read during the holidays. You MUST add it to your holiday TBR list! 🎄✨🎁

I don't usually write reviews, but I wanted to for this book because it wasn't what it advertised. The description of it sounds cute and cheery, but the book is actually sad once you get into it. I wanted a Christmassy book with dogs and royalty, but ended up reading about a family whose father abandoned them and then lost their dog right afterwards. Cute book/idea, but not what I expected at all and I ended up DNF'ing it because it made me sad.

This story is about lost love, family and renewed faith. While this story takes place in England 11 days before Christmas, it is heart warming all year round. Add in the Royal Family and the inner workings of Buckingham Palace and you have a wonderful dog tale! Enjoy !! 👑

A very enjoyable, easy read. Having toured Buckingham Palace, it was easy for me to visualize the palace rooms as Henry explored. And, having a dog's perspective, as well as a human perspective, on the separation of a beloved pet brought a few tears to my eyes. A fun book to read in the holiday season.

Oh my God, this is such an adorable, sweet book! Highly recommend if you are looking for an easy reading material, which will still make you feel. I laughed and I cried while reading this book. I wanted to hug it after I finished it. And hug my dog more as well. Pure sweetness!
