Do you wish for a 36 hour-day and think that running after kids is good cardio? If yes, then ‘YOU’ could be ‘ME’! Hi! Meet ‘Me’ alias Kanta Bai (at least in my household!), a ‘work-from-home’ mother of two, who loves to laugh and live life, all in the midst of a chaotic household of growing teenagers, their friends, traumas and dramas. Throw in a frisky pet, an unpredictable husband, some coffee pals and a few relatives, and you have a kaleidoscopic view of a routine day in the life of a mom. Now, add in a couple of demanding clients, deadlines and conference calls, and whoooosh! you get a heady concoction with a home-bound professional mom, who steers through a series of chaotic, frenzied and funny anecdotes of life. Kanta Bai Pvt. Ltd. is quirky and rib-tickling yet somber and thought-provoking. It is a peep into the lives and hearts of these ‘super moms’, who roller-skate through life at full speed, enjoying the thrill as well as the panic of this joy ride.
Humorously written about the challenges women face as mothers and with the responsibility of home management thrust upon by them by the society. I liked the witty writing style of the author and the very relatable narration. I even had LOL moments twice. However, glorifying the superwoman role of mothers ( actually a ploy to get the Woman in the home do everything) did not sit well with me. I believe men can also do multi-task and manage kitchen, careers and kids very efficiently just as Women can do. It is not an innate capability and can be very much acquired by the men also.
A book about mothers that work from home. The book is witty and hilarious at so many levels. Me not a mom but who has been working from home for a while now, could relate to a lot of things in the book. The book also makes us realize the journey our mothers would have taken to raise us but with some humor to it.
If you are looking for an easy beach/pool read or something light to read while traveling or maybe when you are feeling under the weather, this is a perfect book to pick up and read! Cannot wait to read her next book……
