A tweet about pegging led me here lol. No seriously it did. I'd never read a single thing by Charlottoe Stein, although I have seen her stuff recced by friends whose book recs I trust, but when a friend tweeted about enjoying this pegging story I had to get this collection of erotic novellas and whew! It did not disappoint.
My fave stories are for sure Lust Dazed and Giving., which is story number 1 and 2 respectively. Lust Dazed focuses on Evan and Ellie and Jeremy. Ellie stumbles on Evan and Jeremy masturbating to some porn and overhears Evan calling out her name. It was hot and steamy with just the right amount of awkward. Evan was so sweet and awkward which is the best kind of hero in my opinion. They have a threesome with Jeremy but the story is really about Evan and Ellie.
Jeremy was a tad annoying but that was his personality basically, and I kind of wanted a story with jsut him too. To get what was going on in his head during all this. Did he have deeper feelings for Evan? or was he simply helping his friend win the girl? So many complicated feelings there and it was very well written.
The 2nd story is about a couple. The guy writes 3 things on a piece of paper that he wants his girlfriend to do to him, for his birthday. And what gloriousness it was. Another awkward, sort of shy hero who asked for what he wanted and boy did he get it. Hence the pegging. Delightful all around!
I love how the heroine came into her own while dominating him and they both just loved it. The hesitation at first, then getting into it was also beautiful written.
I enjoyed the rest of stories too but these two stood out to me the most. So now this means I gotta look into what this author has in their backlist don't I? because i liked her fun and funny sort of writing style so I'm intrigued.

Four Erotic Novellas: Lust Dazed, Giving, Closer, Ever Unknown by Charlotte Stein could be a three star book because interior dialogues can get muddled. It could be a 5 star private time read because Ms Stein has an inventive mind. Given she is writing in a field that tends to expect one highly focused type of sex, 4 stars is what you see her. The four short stories each present a different set of secrets, but all seem to be either a first time or something like.
Lust Dazed is a menage story, from two points of view. Neither is confident or sure of what they want. This story could have been the most powerfully erotic, but it was the most muddled. We get 2 POV , confusing as the people cannot decide what they want to admit that they want. Resulting in a narrative that is hard to follow and frequently interrupted between action, thinking, hesitating and, a muddle.
Giving is according to some a pegging story. Again, it is muddled, only somewhat because the players are new to the game and every action is mixed in with discussion, confirmation and hesitations. This has a true to life aspect, but why can’t people just have their fun?
Closer, is on all counts better. The woman has her kink (frottage, rubbing against strangers) and it unexpectedly aligns with one the kinks of one of her strangers. Oddly this is incidentally erotic as the tension builds more unto a suspense story rather than a couple coupling.
Ever Unknown, may be Ms Stein at her best. A female with no sexual persona begins receiving vaguely, then progressively more certainly suggestive e mails. With them she creates for herself a number of progressively intense private moments. The real question, the one leaving the reader wanting more is, what happens after the forbidden and the imagined is realized?

3 1/2 STARS!
My favorite had to be Giving (story 2), with the femdom and pegging and all. Story 1 (Lust Dazed, with a menage) was good, and story 4 (Ever Unknown, secret dirty messages in an office setting) was also quite nice. My least favorite has to be story 3 (Closer), which didn't really grab me for some reason.
Regardless, all 4 are definitely dirty little quickies, which Stein always does well.

January 4, 2025deliciously dirty, per usual from charlotte stein. kink-wise, there’s something for everyone in this collection. my favourite was probably the second because well-written femdom is still so rare. the 3rd story really stretched my capacity bc the fmc’s kink is being pressed up on strangers in crowded trains. somehow, it worked. simultaneously excited and dreading finishing stein’s backlist this year as she is the gift that keeps on giving.

Stein is so good at the novella format, I like that she's rereleasing in collections, these four were all new to me which was a happy surprise. (The third story, Closer, is weird enough as it is but reading it during the corona outbreak really raises it to a whole new level of taboo!)

Steam: 5/5 - It's the focus of these stories, but romance is absolutely present as well.

These are four very different stories whose only commonality is the author. I think Ever Unknown is my favorite but I enjoyed each story. Perhaps the surprise is in the contrasting ways people play at romance.
