Usted conoce el "evangelio de prosperidad", el evangelio de "póngale nombre y proclámelo"; y el evangelio con carga política.  Esta clase de mensajes son predicados a diario  en no menos de 90 por ciento de los canales de televisión cristiana.  Pero, ¿dónde quedó aquel evangelio del que el apóstol Pablo no se avergonzaba?

La mayoría de los cristianos no entienden lo que es el verdadero evangelio de Jesús.  En nuestra iglesia, los pastores olvidan predicar sobre el temor a Dios y el castigo eterno.  En muchas congregaciones se ha llegado a creer que todos serán salvos y nadie se perderá. Por otra parte, muchos cristianos también carecen de la seguridad de su propia salvación y se enfocan en la santificación como su único boleto al cielo. 

Estas falsas nociones sobre lo que la Biblia enseña, privan al evangelio sus atributos.  Ignoran lo que históricamente fue presentado por Jesús, completado por el apóstol Pablo y articulado por los reformadores del siglo XVI.  El evangelio ha sido puesto a un lado, y la evidencia de ello la tenemos en la manera en que las iglesias están engañando e incluso maltratando a la gente.

I’ve benefited much from this Author over the years, and whilst I appreciate his passion in this book I find that some of his arguments are a little weak - which I don’t recall being the case in his early works - though admittedly it has been a decade or two since I last read any of his books. There are many chapters well worth the read, and I appreciated many of his anecdotal stories - and I don’t dispute many (perhaps most) of his criticisms. However for me there needed to be more Grace, more Forgiveness in a book aiming to bring us back to the Gospel message. I felt in particular that he seems to be almost obsessed with Heaven and seems to elevate this almost above Christ himself - which seems to me that he is falling (or at least leaning towards) the same faults he points out in others.

Não conhecia o pastor Kendall. Gostei muito do livro. Chama a atenção como as igrejas abriram mão do evangelho ortodoxo, verdadeiro e genuíno por um substituto raso, fraco e baseado em prosperidade, coach, no universalismo e outras crendices que não são bíblicas. Fora o fato de nós esquecermos da vida eterna. Nos apegarmos nas coisas terrenas.

A back-to-basics type of book that clearly explains the good news of Jesus Christ. Excellent for new Christians, or for seasoned Christians who just need to be reminded. Also appropriate for someone who wants to know what Christianity is all about.

This is an easy to read book defining what the Gospel is and what it is not. The author points out that a lot of extra baggage is sometimes added to the Gospel.
