I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

I love sheet pan dinners and am always looking for something new to try cooking on a sheet pan. This collection has lots of different types of recipes to suit your dietary needs, including lots of vegetarian and vegan options. The first recipes I've flagged to try are the Coq Au Vin (made with white wine instead of the regular red,) Roasted Monkfish & Parma Ham Parcels on Dill Potatoes (I've never had monkfish,) and Hasselback Coquina Squash with Chilli Maple Glaze & Salt Flakes (I've never even heard of coquina squash.) There is also a recipe for grain-free granola that sounds like it would be a great breakfast option.

I’m guilty. I browse through cookbooks by skipping through pages and eyeing the photos. I only look at the recipe when its photo catches my eye.

Most recipes in this cookbook are not accompanied by a photo and the photos that are included are not accompanied by captions.

I should also admit here that I’m lazy. When I came across a photo that peaked my interest, and then couldn’t match it to a recipe without deep diving into the ingredients, I lost interest.

For what it’s worth, I used an ebook version through overdrive/Libby. I can only assume/hope that the physical book makes it more clear which photo belongs to which recipe. I also have a family full of picky eaters and young kids which means that I don’t have the proper time, willingness, or brain power to dive deeper into the non-picture recipes at this time.

BUT WAIT THERE’S MORE!

I am apparently also guilty of forgetting the good. The intro of this book was pretty awesome, most notably about roasting vegetables. I also appreciated the aim of each recipe being well rounded and balanced.

Probably the most useful with an ease-of-use for cooking cookbooks I have found in past 5 years. Recipes are fairly simple, but meals are fulfilling, nutritious, and yummy! While author uses sheet pans, I use typically Pyrex glass baking pans, mainly as its difficult to find quality baking sheets nowadays. Substitutions are easy and I had no problems staying Paleo, as many of the recipes are already Paleo or AIP compliant.

The meat recipes in this are what I was most interesting in cooking. I'm trying to branch out from only eating chicken and occasionally fish, and there's plenty of lamb and duck recipes in this book that I think would be interesting to experiment with. However, I found only a few other recipes elsewhere in the book that held my interest.
