Things the Children Have to Know at the Age of 12 (and better to know them for you)
Since a baby comes into our family and, at the same time, it becomes part of a society whose machinery has been spinning for thousands of years by very diverse paths in which we, the inhabitants, take a series of decisions that will affect us in greater or lesser measure throughout our lives.
To be active subjects or to be passive subjects? To be obedient or to be rebellious? Be submissive or wrestlers? Be humble or conceited? Selfish or charitable? Friendly or unfriendly? Violent or dialogue? Optimistic or pessimistic? Respectful or intolerant? Integrators or racists?
Krishnamurti said, in one of his most celebrated phrases, that "it is not healthy to be well adapted to a deeply ill society," and one of our parenting roles is undoubtedly trying to make a diagnosis (or several) to the different ailments, diseases and gangrenes in the world we live in to help our children separate the grain from the chaff and adapt, or not, as needed.
