Shoyo Hinata is out to prove that in volleyball you don't need to be tall to fly!
Ever since he saw the legendary player known as “the Little Giant” compete at the national volleyball finals, Shoyo Hinata has been aiming to be the best volleyball player ever! Who says you need to be tall to play volleyball when you can jump higher than anyone else?
The semifinals of the Tokyo Area Qualifiers for the Spring Tournament have begun! It’s Nekoma vs. Fukurodani in a win-and-you’re-in match! Fukurodani’s ace, Bokuto, is in top form as he goes head-to-head with Nekoma’s defensive master, Yaku. Will the Cats be able to take down the Owls?!
*Reread 10/1/2020* I loveeeee Bokuto so much! And Akaashi!! I kind of wish the Nekoma x Fukurodani game could've been stretched a little bit longer, but there's only so much they can do, I guess.
God, Nohebi is so annoyingggg, but I love Daisho, that stupid snaky boy. The anime took out so much of the snakes being just complete sneaky assholes. They're the worst lol
*Original Review 10/6/2019* It's weird not following the Karasuno boys, but I really love the Tokyo teams. A new team has been introduced and they're so freaking frustrating for the opposing team, but I like these snake boys? Like how is Furudate so good at making you like all the teams?? (They're complete assholes though, like fuck off, but also I love you).
I love those little side stories here especially the one where Hinata was trying to figure out why tanaka is not recognized as cool as he should've been, with all his misspelling!:))
I was so excited to see Nekoma play against Fukurodani, but it's actually their match with Nohebi that's more compelling. They're a frustrating opponent and I'm curious as to how Nekoma would overcome their play style.
Haikyu volume 22 - Land vs Air - takes us to Tokyo to bear witness to the semifinals of the Tokyo Area Qualifiers, guest staring Nekoma and Fukurodani. My favourite characters in the entire series, Bokuto and Akaashi, get a bit of spotlight here. I absolutely adored this volume, and am excited to continue into the qualifying game for the third spot of representing teams for Tokyo. 5 stars read for this manga volume.
Esta primera parte del Nekoma vs Fukurodani no me gustó tanto como en el anime. Se desinfla un poco respecto a su adaptación animada, peeeero amo al Nekoma. Y a Bokuto ❤️
I normally don't read manga, but Haikyuu!! has had me in a chokehold for a little over three weeks, and I couldn't help myself. I wanted to see what happened after the events of the last season, and I wasn't disappointed!
Nekoma is one of my favorite teams, and the fact that they were up against Fukurodani made it so much more exciting. The match was fun, cool, and I totally did not see the ending coming. I love how Furudate illustrates that each player brings his own set of cards to the table.
I can't wait to read the next volume!
*Since these novels go by pretty quickly, I may not write reviews for some of the mangas I will be reading, but I will continue to give ratings.
"What I'm trying to say is that there is always hope and potential."
This volume was EXCELLENT! Lots of laughter, but also lots of intensity too! I don't think I fully realized how much Kenma and Akaashi have their own rivalry of sorts. That is a GOOD rivalry! This volume definitely highlighted how amazing they are as setters and also really showed me how much a good setter can do for their team (and not just in setting the ball so well).
Bokuto is honestly a hoot! (No pun intended!) He's the kind of player where you know that when he comes on page, you're bound to laugh at some point! I definitely did my fair share and just love him to pieces!
The match up between our two powerhouses was pretty wild! I had forgotten about it until I started reading! Very awesome to watch and was completely sucked in!
I also had forgotten that there is a team I disliked even more then Shiratorizawa…
Ughhhhh that team just needs to go! Manipulative teams like Nohebi just really get under my skin and they do their job TOO well of just that.
Also, YAKUUUU!! *cries* Double also, love how even off court, just Kenma telling Lev that Hinata is better than him is enough to get him fired up and do better. LOL! Third also, I really liked Konoha AND Yamamoto! Very different (and on two different teams) but also very cool!
I love that second bonus story and the image in Hinata's mind! It was hilarious! LOL! I read that story at least twice and laughed harder each time! LOL!
Overall, this was a very good volume and very grateful for something a little less intense then the previous match. (My brain needed it. LOL!) But I know things are about to heat up and confess I'm a little bummed when we had to leave the first Nekoma match behind. That rivalry was just really fun to watch!
I appreciate that Furudate focused on developing more of how Fukurodani and Nekoma work as teams outside of practice games and gave me more insight into these characters outside of our leading team in this volume. Considering at this point in time this is where the anime is at (and since we don't know a lot about the new green-lit season, they could be skipping this material entirely), these two games help paint a bigger picture with the lesser-known teammates on the two Tokyo rivals.
Plus, how Nohebi plays volleyball compared to the other teams we've see is starkly different. Their style makes me so frustrated due to the technicalities, but at the same time, it's like the sport itself is clay in their hands. I can't wait to see where it heads next.
By defeating Nekoma, Fukurodani earned their spot in the finals. Whereas Cats are now fighting Snakes in Tokyo Area Qualifiers Third Place Match which is their last chance to grab the slot for National. However, in their first set against Nohebi, Yaku gets injured. It's a huge blow for Nekoma, but also their opportunity to shine in absence of their star libero.
I remember waiting at the bank last year reading this. I was so into it that the man sitting next to me had to tell me they'd been calling my number for a while.
Still, took me a while to finish.
I didn't enjoy the Nekoma match all that much, but my overall experience was okay.
Pues tenía muchas ganas de leer partidos del Nekoma, pero este tomo ha sido sin más. La única parte emotiva lo de Yaku y Kenma diciéndoles a todos que se relajen. El rival son además unos impresentables, iugh.
