Kind of a nice try, but ultimately a forced attempt at creating a framework for comparing ethical ideas across religions. Shows a lack of ethnographic understanding of how cultures vary in thinking about ethics and the idea of moral, legal, and religious action guides doesn't work very well It's an old book and is worth noting for its importance in contributing to the discussion of comparative ethics, but it fails to accomplish much.
