The Necessary Distinction: A Continuing Conversation on Law & Gospel

Rate this book
What happens when the distinction between the Law and Gospel in the Bible is blurred? Arrogant sinners gain a false sense of security toward God based on their own works and self-righteousness. Broken sinners see God's lofty standards and despair that they will ever be free of their guilt and sin. Congregations begin adopting the views of the culture around them. It may not seem like a big deal, but keeping these two main teachings of Scripture clear and distinct is essential to know where we stand with God.

I enjoyed this very challenging book. It is not easy or straightforward to read, especially if you come from outside the academic Lutheran world. Yet, it raises important discussions that need to take place within the broader Protestant tradition. If we claim to be "gospel-centered", we need to take the Law & Gospel distinction seriously, lest we dilute the Message....

Love this book. Enjoy the topic, but more so, fell in love with multiple authors, allowing for different voices to speak in same book, bounce off each other, etc.
