The summer before college, Ginger Reynolds is trying to manage her temper, especially after spending the night in jail. Her waitress job at Miguel's Mexican Restaurant is her only escape from an isolated summer, and she has the added bonus of working with her boyfriend and her best friend. Well, except for the fact that her boyfriend is acting like a complete tool and her best friend has become unapologetically evil. Not to mention the two of them have been keeping each other occupied with entertainment of the half-naked variety.
Add in her cheating mother's sudden return and ultimately, Ginger snaps. Luckily for her, a handsome food critic has taken a special interest in margaritas and, incidentally, her ass. Although he's clearly ready to prove his affection, Ginger’s hesitant to return it. Is it because she's not into him, or is it because he's finally someone worth keeping around?
GINGER SNAPS BACK is hilarious, touching, and entertaining. It's like a warm flour tortilla, possibly bad for you, but too tasty to resist.
I randomly stumbled upon this and liked the synopsis, so I figured why not...and it was sort of a car crash that I couldn't look away from.
Ginger is a hot mess. She's got some anger issues and seems to talk and act before she thinks, but it's her inner monologue that got me. Her BFF and BF are absolutely horrible people and so so so easy to hate. Eric is adorable and I loved that he stood up for himself and Ginger, but hands down, Ginger's dad was the best.
Plot wise, it was a lot of drama. Like a lot a lot a lot. I was irritated by pretty much every decision that Ginger made about her boyfriend Ryan. However, there were some sweet moments and I did love the epilogue.
Overall, it was entertaining and easy to root for Ginger. And I'm going to try one more in the series, just out of curiosity.
That was really fun. Another story that was suggested to me by a friend.
Ginger made me laugh a lot and I liked her dynamic with the food critic. Her boyfriend or whatever was so stupid and a terrible person and I don't know how I feel about the bestie. All in all it was a really fun story with good humor and strong romantic chemistry. Another book to add to the great list.
Sometimes you read a book that, while not your usual new adult jam, has characters who are such delightful hot messes, you just can't put it down! They make you laugh out loud, roll your eyes, and want to shake some sense into them, all while waiting to see what they do next. You love to hate them, but you also can't help but champion them. Deep down you know they'll come to their senses, eventually. Sit back and enjoy the ride.
