Based on the hit movie, Pirates of the Dead Man's Chest. The notorious pirate, Captain Jack Sparrow, has a blood debt to pay to the fearsome Davy Jones. Unless Jack can hand over the blood of one hundred men, he'll be forced to toil on the Flying Dutchman alongside the rest of its cursed crew... that, or be eaten by the monstrous Kraken! With Elizabeth Swann and Will Turner once again caught up in the action, can the unlikely trio cooperate long enough to defeat Jones? Set sail with the legendary Captain Jack Sparrow on his second exciting adventure!
This was really fun. In manga, you can do a lot of really funny expressions, and needless to say, Jack got most of them. For the most part it follows the movie perfectly, but there are some rewritten scenes that work just as well.
I've been a fan of Mangas since I was a kid so when I saw Disney is starting make crossovers in Manga's I was so excited!!🙌❤️ This is the first one in the Disney collection, I can't wait to find more.
It's been many years since I've watched the Pirates of the Caribbean movies but this seems to be a pretty faithful adaptation of Dead Man's Chest. It was fun seeing all the characters, especially Jack Sparrow, transform into a manga adventure.
I gave it three stars only because I didn’t know manga comics are read backwards so it took me awhile to get used to reading it that way. The graphics were beautiful done
Some differences to the film, but still a worthy and beautiful adaptation!
It misses out a few funny lines from the film, but does retain some, too. Misses out some of the foreshadowing (Jack’s not shown falling into the grave before getting stuck in the wheel of fortune like the film). Compared to the film, a few scenes are more rushed. Sometimes this is a good thing, sometimes not so good. Pintel and Ragetti are featured as heavily as the film, which is great. Cotton and the parrot get more screen-time, which is interestingly done, but no Marty, which is a shame, as in the films you really grow into liking the minor crew members as you watch/rewatch them!
The drawings are great though. Cap’n Jack and Davy Jones are captured brilliantly. Jack’s flamboyance and mannerisms suit the manga style, and some of the shots of The Flying Dutchman are superb.
If you like manga, it’s a nice read after watching the film.
It was enjoyable enough but the story of the movie isn’t great and it doesn’t translate well to manga, the drawings are fine but it’s definitely not the greatest read
Pirates of the Caribbean as a manga? Sure I want to read them. I'm now finished with the first one, two ones left. And yes the first is good 😁 Sure it's the movie as a manga, but I saw the films many years ago so I've already forgotten everything 🙈 Maybe I should watch them again 😊
