So pretty much any time Yuri comes across a famous ancient personage and is like 'I should remember this name..." I want to smack her. Who doesn't know Ramses?! GAH! Though he's quite the playboy...
Welcome to book 8 in which Yuri gets to meet her doppleganger! Or rather a beautiful, vain, spiteful shrew of a woman claiming to be her. Too bad Ancient Turkey didn't have google!
So King Suppichan is dead (sadly) and the crown Prince Arunanda (no wait Arunium? Arumpanda? these names!) and so Nakia is like 'perfect! my son will be crown prince!' while said son is wanting none of that at all. The kid wants to be an astronomer. The best thing he could do is poison his mother's wine one night (but he's young and soft-hearted).
Also in a bit of reversal Yuri puts the moves on Kikkuri as a threat to get him to talk (as Hadi says if Kail destroyed the Mittanni for kidnapping Yuri what will he do to his most loyal and trusted servant for kissing her?). At some point Hadi and Kikkuri get together I think, but I don't remember it ending well (meanwhile I'm still trying to guess is Ilbani even likes women...)

Thank you gods of the books for Aslan!!! He saved both Yuri and prevented Queen Nakia's plan to place Juda on the throne! Woohoo!
It's sad that they will probably never find prince Zannaza's body though. As a prince and a wonderful man he deserves a proper burial. D:
Although not overtly intelligent. Yuri has a cunning that helps her a lot in dangerous situations that usually ends up working in her favor.
I guess the story would end to soon if Queen Nakia got caught so soon but it's really starting to annoy me that the evil witch is still alive. Her and her henchman Urhi! -.-
Now with the King dead Queen Nakia is the most powerful in the country. Especially with how weak the crown prince Arnuwanda is!
Now another obstacle to Kail and Yuri being together in peace has arrived. The stupid and desperate Ursula. At least she turns out to be okay and even helpful to Yuri. :/

What first drew me to this series was the romantic historical aspect. I loved how a modern day girl gets pulled back into the past. I don't know what it is about those stories that attract me so much, maybe it is the difficulty for the girl of fitting in and having to rely on the guy so much to be able to get along in the world.
I would really recommend this series to fans of Inuyasha, it has a lot of the same concepts.

the Hittites are on the brink of war with the Egyptians all because of Queen Nakia's evil plot to kill Prince Zannanza. Will Yuri be able to get to Kail to explain what happened, or will the two mighty nations clash in a bloody battle of revenge and hatred?

I'm not a fan of some of the outfits in the manga but the characters are to die for. The passion and misunderstanding throughout the books are beautifully portrayed. There is never a dull moment.

I'm not sure why, but I'm REALLY rooting for Kail and Yuri! Normally I don't even care much about the relationship, but I really want those two to be together!!

It’s been a while since someone else than Kail recues Yuri. It’s always the men that appear at the right moment to save her, be it a dangerous situation or just a light one, and this time the one who does it is Ramses. If he would have taken another way to go to... the girls (I don’t remember the name he said, oof) he wouldn’t have meet Yuri, so she would have been dead in a matter of time. I don’t see another way she could have survived but it amazes me that the one who always rescue her is not a female. Also, he has known her for barely a few days and he’s already attracted to her, like every other man that is a bit importat in the story (except for the servants, I guess) - while every woman she meets criticizes her and talks about how much of a tomboy Yuri is, the men love her and try to kiss and sometimes abuse her.
On another note, I like that Yuri is no the only one that wants to depend on Kail and he also depends on her, although we see very little of that - like the only page where he is seen crying on Yuri’s lap. I hope we can se more moments in the future where Kail is more vulnerable than Yuri.
Finally, nobody seems to trust in Yuri, since they never tell her anything! Someone’s impersonating her but it is not important to tell her? Yuri doesn’t have that much power with her, we know that but the least they could do for Ishtar is tell her what does concerns her. Even when there's been a few times already where she had GOOD ideas or saved the day with the way she thinks! Even Ramses thought the way she thinks is like a king (I would say a queen, but. well.) Like in this volume when she decided to suffer having the arrow in her shoulder to the end so they can examine it. Well... at least Ramses seems to trust her and believes she is the one that should deal with it. She’s the one that can sort it out, so I can’t wait to see how it play out, although not really good...

I’m so confused about Queen Nakia as a character. Her involvement in the story is riddled with plot holes and questionable decisions. The author seems to use her character to start drama when things get slow, and despite being introduced to her as the villian in volume 1, she just doesn’t seem to pose much of a threat or have that great of an influence, and acts very randomly and seemingly without much thought.
That being said, the idea to have another woman pose as Ishtar, and start her own sick care centers, was a great idea and is definitely causing trouble for our main characters. But again, this isn’t even her idea!! It’s Urhi’s idea. I’m still looking forward to seeing the effects of it.
I refuse to believe that Prince Zanannza is dead. I mean sure, he was left in the desert unattended with a fatal wound, but anything can happen in a manga this ridiculous right? I really liked his character and his relationships with both Kail and Yuri and I hope he does end up coming back into the story.
Overall this was an enjoyable volume and I like that the plot here was a little bit less predictable… Yuri wasn’t kidnapped (yet)!

OK, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the whole Yuri being trapped with the inflicted/caring for them despite the "threat" of sickness kind of a retread of an earlier volume? And the fake goddess bit was more than a bit cringey and improbable. (I mean, once he arrived, how was she supposed to trick Kail into believing she's been his concubine the whole time?) I did like that Yuri's breakdown felt very real: Her worries that her strength stems from Kail's presence and therefore she's weak/inadequate on her own is something I haven't seen in manga/anime of this genre before. Yuri herself is a complex heroine, given that she's part damsel in distress (I swear, every volume sees the lovers geographically torn apart for some kidnapping, personal "task"... you catch my drift) and part bad ass fighter chick. But the insecurities and mistakes make the reader realize she is out of her element in age and time. Making progress. Slow and steady progress, but progress nonetheless. Much like Yuri herself.

Un tomo basicamente de "Yuri no lo hagas" y Yuri va y lo hace igual. Ya nada me sorprende realmente jajajaaj creo que si esto sigue así, definitivamente voy a abandonar RED SILVER. Ya ni la trama principal se cuál es o de que iría porque con tantas vueltas y relleno uno se termina perdiendo.

3.75 Este es otro de esos tomos en los que digo no se encariñen con los personajes secundarios, porque tan cruel?!? En cuanto a Yuuri en este tomo se lucio bastante, la fuerza y la voluntad que tiene me re gustaron y me intriga el nuevo personaje secundario que se presenta en este tomo. Cada vez me gusta mas esta historia. Mega recomendada

Good beginning when Yuri meets General User Ramses & with him helps stop a war between Egypt & the Hitties. Queen Nakia's scheme is almost revealed until Urhi kills the murderer, under false guise. The rest were a bit dull. User Ramses & Yuri with her girls are the only best bits.

I really don't care for where the plot is going. Battles of lies and reputation are so petty and aggravating to me, and I hate reading about them. I just hope this arc doesn't go on for too long.

Eh sì, ci son rimasta male per la morte di Zananza... Alla fine si era dimostrato un valoroso guerriero e sarebbe stato un perfetto re d'Egitto.
Zananza se ne va e arriva Ramses. Che ha la faccia da schiaffi di chi sa di essere bello e di poter fare tutto quello che vuole. Insomma, una di quelle persone che, se fossero reali, eviterei come la peste... ^__^ Ma su un fumetto, si può ben leggere di lui e tifare - più o meno - per lui.
I guai per Yuri, intanto, continuano ad accumularsi. L'imperatore muore e si scatena la corsa alla successione - con il povero Giuda che continua invano a spiegare a sua madre che non gli frega niente del trono - tra i fratelli e il consiglio degli anziani.
E in un'altra città appare perfino un'altra dea Ishtar...

I found this series on a mere coincidence but it quickly became one of my all time favourites. I read the entire series in 1.5-2 days. It was truly wonderful and a joy to experience.

I re-read from teenager to grown up. Not the best idea...
This may be my third re-read of this series. I am pretty sure I read it twice in the first two years of it's release. I was young, I loved it. It was romantic. But after reading it this year (maybe +15 years later....), I was wrong. I just saw wrong turns, within wrong turns. Maybe as an adult, you see things differently.
If you,ve read a manga or book during your early years and end up reading them much later in life, you may end up like me- loving a series in the past and ruining it as the adult in you laughs for once enjoying them... :(
