Yuri, a teen of the twenty-first century, has been transported to ancient Anatolia as part of a scheme by the evil Nakia, Queen of the Hittites. Only the intervention of Nakia's stepson, Prince Kail, save Yuri from the Queen's bloodthirsty intentions. As an unintended consequence, the people of the kingdoms of Anatolia are now convinced that Yuri is the incarnation of the great war-goddess Ishtar.
But even a goddess has no immunity from persecution when she's falsely accused of the murder of the Hittite king. Forced to flee to Alinna, Yuri must deal with treachery, abduction by the Egyptian military commander Ramses, and someone's tragic self-sacrifice. And in the midst of all this turmoil, Yuri's potent feelings for Prince Kail, ever fraught with uncertainty, are shaken to their very foundations!

The one in which one of the only redeemable relationships in this manga is destroyed by an execution. No offense... the main couple was not worth it. :(
Welcome to Book 11! And my what a book this was...
So Ramses, doing what he does best apparently, kidnapped Yuri (to be fair he saved her from death THEN kidnapped her) to be his queen in Egypt. It was actually a rather amusing scene since Yuri was convinced he wanted to take over the Hittite Empire and he's like "No. No seriously I just wanted to kidnap you. TO BE MY QUEEN. Are you even listening? Who cares about this place!"
Back in Hattusa Kail is getting increasingly less patient with Ilbani's constant nagging to do what is right and Ursula feels overwhelmingly guilty in the part she has played in what's happened. To the point where she made a life-defining decision that I'm not sure Yuri will ever forgive anyone for. Even though it does make Nakia look bad.
And Shinohara amps up the Ravishment of Yuri (that's the sub title to the series by the way) with Ramses finally losing patience. Though Kail has impeccable timing Yuri is only pleased as long as it takes her to realize that if he's with her then he's NOT with Ursula helping her. And then Kash comes marching in with his headband of braided Ursula hair and EVERYONE knows what happened.
NOOOOOO!!!!
What first drew me to this series was the romantic historical aspect. I loved how a modern day girl gets pulled back into the past. I don't know what it is about those stories that attract me so much, maybe it is the difficulty for the girl of fitting in and having to rely on the guy so much to be able to get along in the world.
I would really recommend this series to fans of Inuyasha, it has a lot of the same concepts.
I found this series on a mere coincidence but it quickly became one of my all time favourites. I read the entire series in 1.5-2 days. It was truly wonderful and a joy to experience.
Well, that is certainly one way to resolve the assassination situation . . . and with that, borrowed time and a debt has been paid, at the end of the day. Probably the best outcome for everyone given the circumstances, and yes it's cold, but that's how these games of thrones go. There are sure to be plenty of emotional repercussions of this, which I'm excited to see.
Yuri is beyond annoying, the slow burn is tedious, the art is mediocre at best. Not a series you can binge and I’m struggling to finish this reread of the series
A lot (most?) of the covers feature the canonical couple but I am amused to note that for this volume the couple is Yuri and Aslan. Yay Aslan! Even if you are completely unconvincing as a horse.
