I thought the last book had been missing something--Yuri wasn't assaulted! Not once! No wait I totally lied the Prince of Darkness began his assault at the end of Book 6 and then followed through into book 7. Phew. I thought that Shinohara was losing her touch!

Welcome back to another round of Yuri is manhandled and then makes her enemy concede she is so much more awesome then he could ever hope to be. At this point the Prince of Darkness should have probably just been like "I put Yuri in danger...oh fuck she's going to win" because that's the cycle of things for him.

Meanwhile Ilbani I love you is basically like "YURI CAN NEVER LEAVE" and is actually PROACTIVE about making that happen (by making Urhi the bad guy). Of course now that he's on Team Yuri the universe is rather not - or at least not Egypt or Nakia. Nefertiti (who despite what this series tries to convince me will never be tarnished in my memory of historical women figures to idolize) decides they need a Hittite Prince to marry her daughter (or I think its her daughter - King Tut's wife. I get a bit confused by which familial term is best to use in Egypt at times) for peace and blah blah blah. Chariot Race!!

We meet Prince Juda--Nakia's son--and he is the just the cutest, sweetest most innocent thing EVER. He's so sweet he (with only slight guilt) runs off to tell Kail about his mother's evil schemes every chance he can AND thwarts at least one personally. Seriously, Juda is awesome sauce.

Oh and Zannizanni is...well...:sobs:

(ps Kail is 22--which I will ignore because OMG ICK FACTOR between him and Yuri who is, at best, 16 now).

What first drew me to this series was the romantic historical aspect. I loved how a modern day girl gets pulled back into the past. I don't know what it is about those stories that attract me so much, maybe it is the difficulty for the girl of fitting in and having to rely on the guy so much to be able to get along in the world.

I would really recommend this series to fans of Inuyasha, it has a lot of the same concepts.

I love the political repercussions to the previous arc. It's definitely proof of the series' utilization of history, and it just generally makes me happy.

Now if only I didn't have to deal with cliffhangers!

4.5-5/5

I found this series on a mere coincidence but it quickly became one of my all time favourites. I read the entire series in 1.5-2 days. It was truly wonderful and a joy to experience.

Another decent volume!

The plot line with the widowed Queen of Egypt and Prince Zanannza is really interesting though it seems that it’s going to be cut short, and I’m a little upset about the potential death at the end of this volume.

As horrible as it sounds, it was a little satisfying to see Yuri be injured, because previously she’s been so ridiculously lucky in dangerous situations and managed to avoid any kind of harm. So to see that she is in fact susceptible to danger, is a relief. And I’m curious to see how that scene wraps up in the next volume.

I think I’m mostly unsympathetic to Yuri, because of how little details we’ve gotten about her situation. I’d love to hear about the little challenges that she faced while adjusting to such a different way of life than she enjoyed in modern day Japan. The pacing is really fast so I haven’t had much time to bond with her.

OK. Only Prince Juda scenes with Yuri & the attack on Prince Zannanza were the good parts of this volume.

It feels a bit redundant to be reviewing individual volumes of a manga, but this one left off on a crazy cliffhanger, and I am so hooked

It seems to me that all everyone tries to do to Yuri is have sex with her or kill her. O.O

And yet again Queen Nakia through Urhi shows what a bitch she is. If she can't have Yuri's blood to make the spell then she is going to do her best to make sure she can't get home! All of Kail and Yuri's hard work down the drain because of one burnt bridge. :(

lol. It seems that fate is constantly interrupting Yuri's and Kail's lovey dovey moements!!! :P

JUDA HAS A WIFE AND TWO(!!!) CONCUBINES!!!! What does he do with them, play cards? He's like 12!!! :O

Of course Queen Nakia has to keep sinking lower in her bid to get her son on the throne. Now she has killed one of Kail's closest brothers and she has only begun.

Poor prince Zannaza he never found someone to love him and never got to be the King of Egypt. :(

STUPID, EVIL BITCH!!! I can't wait till Queen Nakia is dead!!! -.- *cries*

Anatolia Story vol. 1 - 28

Overall Rating: 2..../10
I re-read from teenager to grown up. Not the best idea...

This may be my third re-read of this series. I am pretty sure I read it twice in the first two years of it's release. I was young, I loved it. It was romantic. But after reading it this year (maybe +15 years later....), I was wrong. I just saw wrong turns, within wrong turns. Maybe as an adult, you see things differently.

If you,ve read a manga or book during your early years and end up reading them much later in life, you may end up like me- loving a series in the past and ruining it as the adult in you laughs for once enjoying them... :(

Do I recommend this:
