Have you ever noticed when you go out and eat fast food, and over indulge on the greasy fries, or high fat foods that you feel tired and have little to no energy afterwards? The food we eat plays a major role in our emotions and our moods. In the book "Clean Eating, Dirty Sex: Sensual Superfoods and Aphrodisiac Practices for Ultimate Sexual Health and Connection (Hardcover)" by Lisa Davis we hear stories from Lisa and other people that have shared their struggles along the way. Lisa also includes recipes that are delicious and filled with healthy alternatives that can increase not only your libido but also your overall health. It is a MUST read.
I love the on demand show "InDepth with Larry Flick" on SiriusXM. He interviews top celebrities from the best in music, television, and film so when I saw the name Lisa Davis, I was curious who she was since her name didn't ring a bell. I listened and discovered that she isn’t a celebrity. She’s an author. I had never heard an author of a health book on Larry's show before so I was intrigued. This was something different. Larry explained that he gets a lot of books on healthy living but he usually doesn’t do interviews on them. He said Lisa’s book was unique because of the memoir portion and how she understands the emotionality of it all. That really struck me. So I ordered the book on kindle and I love it. Reading Lisa’s personal stories made me smile while at the same time were real, raw, and authentic. Not only that, the book is full of practical advice from today’s top health experts on issues that help you be healthier in all aspects of your life with an emphasis on sexual health. I loved the kindle version so much I wanted the hard copy. It did not disappoint! It is a beautiful book. There are over 50 recipes and every recipe has a gorgeous photo along with it. I tried a few and they were easy and delicious. I highly recommend this book. Thank you Larry for having Lisa on your show. So many shows only have celebrities and we miss out on hidden gems out there doing great work.
I just found my New Go-To Gift Book! Perfect for Weddings, Anniversaries, Birthdays, (I wish I had known about this for Valentine’s Day!) and anytime a Friend Needs some no-Nonsense, Informative Self-Help Support. It’s researched and referenced like a textbook (sourced and indexed), but personal, like a (very intimate) conversation with a close friend.
This book is like 3 books in one, and where it sits in your home will depend on your needs. So much more than a Coffee Table book (who can resist the cover, and the beautiful layout and tasteful illustrations inside?!), you’ll find yourself taking notes about nutrition, food shopping, self-assessment & motivation, and relationship building with yourself and your partner, and then you’ll bring it to the kitchen for its amazing recipes. This book instantly connects, a great resource, from cover to cover.
Bravo to Lisa Davis for educating, inspiring, and laying out a meal plan all in one source. Her raw honesty throughout, complete with personal stories from her lifetime, is so compelling, readable, and relatable. And, I’m all set with gifts for the next year!!
I really enjoyed reading this book because I not only learned a great deal about the interrelatedness between healthy eating, sex, emotionally wellbeing, and exercise but I also enjoyed the way Lisa was able to tell her own personal story in the context of health and well being as supported by the numerous experts quoted in the book. Lisa and I are about the same age, so I found her personal stories about her childhood and growing up very relatable. Even if you are not in that age group, her stories do transcend on the basis of growing up in a western culture where consumerism and fast food reign supreme. The health experts Lisa has assembled also shed light on some of the inconsistencies between diet, exercise, and sexual performance that occur when treated in isolation. The healthy recipes at the end should also be an incentive to read this book not only because they sound delicious but of the health benefits they provide. I know I'm looking forward to trying out a few!!!! A must read for anyone serious about improving their health in all areas of their life.
A friend of mine told me about this book called “Clean Eating Dirty Sex.” I figured it was a play on words but had to get it for myself to be sure. It is a play on the words. The book is not about dirty sex. It is a book that will give you great tips and advice to help you be healthier in all areas of your life with an emphasis on sexual health. I love the author’s personal stories. They are candid and really funny, while sharing hard stuff the author went through in her life and how that brought her to clean eating and a healthier relationship with sex. They really made this book stand out from other healthy lifestyle books I’ve read. I also love to cook and entertain and the recipes were a hit! I also really liked the list of foods that are good for your sexual health. There is science behind these foods. If you want to be healthier, this is the book for you.

Basic & unremarkable. The pertinent, summative information can all be found within 7 back to back pages in their “Clean Eating Dictionary,” which may serve as an okay reference if you’d rather consult the book than a quick google search.
I did appreciate the anecdotal product page, however, the recommendations leave something to be desired. Doing a little more intentional digging to recommend a product they truly vouch for, as opposed to “Amazon.com or find your favourite sex toy shop online,” would’ve instilled more confidence in the material, among the other haphazardly constructed content it offers.
I went back and forth between a 2 and a 3 with this book. I finally decided on a three because there were tidbits of new information and several of the recipes do look good. The bottom line in this book: Eat your veggies + cut out sugar + activity = feeling better which leads to better sex. Of course it does! This would actually make a fun wedding shower gift present to throw in with the pots and pans, and I do love the title!!
