About the author

Anne Elaine Schraff grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. She received both her bachelor's and master's degrees from California State University at Northridge and taught high school for ten years.

Anne paid her way through college by writing short stories for magazines. Since college she has written hundreds of stories and over eighty books including historical fiction, biographies, science books, and her favorite, fictional books for young people. She is published as both Anne Schraff and Anne E. Schraff.

Her background, which she describes as "multicultural, lower middle-class neighborhood, including African Americans, Mexican Americans, Arab Americans, and Filipino Americans," is her greatest inspiration when writing.

Love is all a teenager wants. Whether it's love from family, friends, or boyfriends, love is all a person needs/wants. While Cindy isn't recieving the love from her mother, who is giving it to her drug dealing boyfriend, Cindy has to find it somewhere else. Only a freshman, she s confused. She wants her mom to love her like she used to. One day, Cindy's best friend's ex-boyfriend, Bobby Wallace, wants to talk to her. Cindy runs back and tell her friend. Being warned about Bobby, and his outrageous bahavior, Cindy is willing to take a chance. Thinking everything is perfect between her and Bobby, she soon finds herself in a dangerous situation.

Cindy Gibson was a freshman at Bluford High with a poor attendance record. She didn’t care about going to school, she hated her mother’s boyfriend and she was tired of being left home alone. All she wanted was a close relationship with her mother, but Lori Gibson was a woman who cared more about keeping a man than spending quality time with her daughter. So Cindy found the attention she craved elsewhere. Her friends told her to stay away from the sweet-talking guy she was interested in but she ignored their warnings and gave Bobby Wallace a chance. He wasn’t the same person he used to be, after all. Or at least that was what he claimed. Cindy was happy to have a boyfriend and she did things she wouldn’t normally do to please him. But then the guy she believed had changed for the better showed his true self.
I felt for Cindy; especially when she kept trying to convince herself Bobby wasn’t who she knew he was. Sadly, she was so desperate for attention and affection that she ignored the warning signs of a potentially abusive relationship, and then made excuses for Bobby when he treated her badly. She had true friends in Jamee and Amberlynn but she didn’t seem to get that. I’m glad they didn’t let her attitude keep them from showing how much they cared about her.
I liked Mrs. Davis (aka Grandma Rose). She had wisdom and love for people in her community and she was there for Cindy when her mother wasn’t; speaking kind words to lift her spirits and giving her sound advice. Jamee was a real good friend who cared about education and wanted Cindy to succeed in life. Harold Davis was a nice young man, and that wasn’t a surprise since he was raised by his Grandma Rose. And Bobby Wallace? Sadly, he was his father’s son.
I noticed these cute little Bluford High novels in bookstores a while back and I’m glad I decided to buy this one. Someone to Love Me was a good story and it didn’t take much time to read it. Schraff sends messages about the importance of self-love (a lesson learned not only by teenage Cindy but her mother as well) and the dangers of drug use. There was also very little profanity and I really appreciated that - many young adult novels have way too much foul language.

“Grandma says if love settles on a garbage can, you can’t make the fool in love smell the stink”

This is a teenage/YA fiction that’s #4 in the Bluford High Series. I thought this book had a great pace and enough of the big events spaced in a way that the book never had a down moment. I read it in a day.

Although the themes are heavy with drugs/violence (yes, very much like a PBS special, or those announcements at the end of old 90s sitcom episodes) for the age group, I think it was perfect.

The underlying theme that I thought was done perfectly in this book was how the author wove in red flags, trauma, and coping mechanisms through Cindy’s thought processing without necessarily making it a blanket statement.

I also LOVE how real her friendships were. More teenagers need friends like Cindy had (ie. Jamee, Darcy, and Amberlynn, and even Harold! Who I suspect to hear more from in future books 😏)

Someone to Love Me, by Anne Schraff, is about a teenager named Cindy who finds herself in an abusive relationship. Cindy lives alone with her mother and is very lonely, because her mother spends all of her time working or going out with her sleazy boyfriend, Raffie. At the beginning of the book Cindy is very depressed and rarely goes to school, but her friends and a nice older neighbor lady encourage her to return. On her first day back at school she is offered a job drawing cartoons for the school paper, and an older, attractive boy named Bobby notices her. Bobby has a reputation for violence and used to go out with Jamee, Cindy’s friend. But Cindy ignores Jamee’s warnings because she really enjoys the attention she gets from Bobby. He makes her feel important and loved. When Cindy starts to notice Bobby’s temper and violent reactions, she tries to make excuses for him. One night, things go too far and Cindy can no longer ignore the danger she’s in with Bobby Wallace.
Anyone who has ever felt confused about love will definitely enjoy reading Anne Schraff’s Someone to Love Me. Most students in high school will be able to relate to Cindy, the main character in the book. She is going through a really tough time in her life and feels like no one will ever love her. Although her mother loves Cindy a lot, she is spending all of her free time with her boyfriend, which causes a lot of arguments and hurt feelings in their home. Cindy wants to feel loved and accepted so badly that she ends up in a relationship with a guy who hurts her and lies to her. This is a great book for high school students to read because almost anyone can learn something from it. Sometimes people don’t want to accept the truth because they think it will be too painful. Cindy learns that dealing with the truth and accepting yourself is more important than any relationship.

Someone to Love Me is book #4 in the bluford series. The main character in this book is Cidney Gibson she is a teenager that goes to bluford high and is currently feeling like no one is noticing her and that she is not the best looking girl. She deals with her moms bad tempered boyfriend that is constantly putting her down. And now this boy is starting to show her that she is special and pretty but when her friends try to tell her about the boy she dosent listen. So after all this book is very helpful to teens and will let you see how other people handel situations.

This book was great. Especially for the fact that I love reading about relationships and observing what could go wrong with them. this girl just wanted to be loved or at least feel loved truely. So what she decided to do was go and find love from her bestfriend's ex who she knows beat her bestfriend. That was the reason for their brake up. I can't relate to the book entirely but I know others who can. I felt for her and if I wasn't as smart as I am now, I think I would have down anything to feel loved. Even if it meant sacrificing my body but I m smarted than that. It was a great book.

In the story there's a girl named cindy who wishes she can live a normal life. She wants attention from her mom but she can't get it because her mom is always working and hangs out with her boyfriend almost everyday. Cindy really dislike her moms boyfriend Raffie because he calls her names and is really mean to her. Cindy's mom one day left her alone for the weekend and cindy didn't know until she got home and saw a note that was telling her. Cindy then meet a boy names Bobby Wallace who use to date her bestfriend Jamee. Her friends didn't really approve of her dating him but they were there for her. Cindy thought bobby was a nice person because he let her wear his varsity jacket and took her out to eat and made her feel special. He would say stuff to her for her to fall for him and treat her well until she really got to know bobby for herself. Bobby became very violent he took Cindy to a drug house but cindy was immediately ready to leave so they left. Bobby always made everything about him even when cindy tried to tell him good news but he would always seem uninterested with her conversation. I wasn't sure about reading the bluford high books but this particular book is interesting and I will continue to read the books.

This book was very interesting just like every other book in the Bluford series. This book was a huge part of the collection and it filled in a lot of empty holes that were left unrolled in the other booked in the series. I can read this book over and over again. I enjoyed this book because it kept me entertained the whole time I was reading it and it never got me bored. I don't dislik anything about this book. I can't wait till I read the next book that is in the series.

When she arrives at Bluford High school for her freshman year, she had trouble back at home with her absent and uncaring mother, her mother's boyfriend who is always telling her she is ugly, pushing her around, and suspects that he is selling drugs in their home and Cindy tries to tell her mother, but she never believes her, and Cindy is always alone in the apartment and the only child so no one to comfort her besides her cat, whenever her mother and Raffie goes out and she is always upset. All that changes when she meets Bobby Wallace, an older, handsome, young man who formerly went out with her friend and conducted abusive history.
Cindy never felt like going to school, instead she would rather stay home and watch TV and keep her cat company. Her friends, Jamie and Amberlynn always cared and looked out for her, One morning Jamie went over Cindy's apartment to get her up and ready for school. But today Cindy decided to go because she could not stand being alone in her apartment for another day.Cindy was and bright and talented kid. One day at school she was asked by her English teacher, Mister. Mitchell, if she wanted to draw for the school newspaper, a.k.a the Bluford Bugler. Cindy took the job, She told her friends. They congratulated her,next period at lunch Cindy noticed another student studying her from her temple on down. The boy was Bobby Wallace, Jamie's ex-boyfriend. Jamie broke up with Bobby a couple years back because he had abused her. Walking home from school later on that day, Bobby drove by Cindy and asked her if she needed a ride home. Cindy was at shock, but than decided to go with him after all because she was eager to go home and tell her mom the news about what happened at school that day.later that evening when Cindy arrived home she opened the door to Raffie, and she went up to take a shower when she got out Raffie was waiting for her to into her room, standing in her door way she stared in a gaze at Raffie as he got up to shut the door behind her he than snatched her towel off and raped her. she cried bloody murder he threatend to take her life if she even thought about saying a word to anyone. Weeks and Weeks passed her by and this thing haunted her she couldn't watch certain movies, listen to specific music or even hear the sound of his voice without her body swelling up. One day she found the strength to tell her mother what happend and out of disbelief her mother smacked her across her cheeks. Cindy was crushed that her mother didn't believe her and by now she had no respect for her mother. Bobby was her everything she loved him but envied his habbits, Bobby was addicted to drugs and this was a collosol problem. On one Halloween night instead of hanging out with her friends, Cindy went out to a uptown party with Bobby. He gave her money to buy a reveling costume and to get her hair done, and ordered her to stay with him when her friends went to take her from him. At the party there were drugs and alcohol, all Cindy wanted was to have fun but not there she wanted to leave. Bobby went to the bathroom upstairs and told Cindy to wait for him. When he returned she wasn't there and he got very upset. When He found Cindy and started strangling her,Her friends were there to save her. Not to long after Bobby passed out because he used drugs. He was taken to the hospital.after the rain came joy and pain Cidney developed a good one on one relationship with her mother and she have gotten rid of Raffie. but as for bobby he still was around and a factor in her life but he was seeing a therapist and clean of all drugs.

“Someone To Love Me” is my favorite book of all The Bluford Series, so far. From it, you can learn the meaning of a real friend and who they really are. It is normal for a teenage girl to look for love, but how can she find it. If she can’t find it at home where else could she find love?

Fifteen years old, Cindy Gibson felt unloved by his mother, who was raising her daughter by herself in a small apartment. Her mother was dating Raffie Whitaker who was known to be a drug dealer. Cindy felt that her mother loved her boyfriend more than her or she doesn’t love her at all. Cindy would hear stuff about her mother’s boyfriend from people outside and at school and try to talk to her mother about it but she won’t ever listen. Her mother was in love, so she didn’t care what anybody said. Cindy always felt lonely because she had nobody to talk to and she won’t talk to her friends Jamee and Amberlynn.

One day while walking to school, Bobby Wallace, whom Cindy’s best friend Jamee got abused by the previous year, was being nice to her and asked her if she wanted a ride. Bobby Wallace is known to be dangerous to be with, but with his words, he made Cindy disbelief what others had said. After weeks of dating, going to the beach, going to restaurants, Cindy thought Bobby loved her. Her friends Jamee and Amberlynn warned her to stay away from him but she thought he had changed. She would stay out with Bobby all the time and even go dangerous places even tough she would feel uncomfortable. Bobby would yell at her, hurt her but she still thinks he loved her.

Even though Cindy is doing something that would break her relationship with Jamee, Jamee doesn’t care if she is dating her ex-boyfriend. She just cares about how she would be treated. Most of teenagers would just stop talking to their friend and would become their enemies forever. Cindy went to a party, with Bobby, which Jamee knew it would be a place where Cindy would get uncomfortable. She and her older sister, Darcy, went to the party to help Cindy know she should come hangout with them and not having a bad day with Bobby.

I was shocked about how the book ended. I thought Jamee and Cindy would not be friends because if it was I, I would be mad at my friend forever. I liked it though, because from it, I learned to be a good friend and don’t get over small thing like that. And knows who your friends are or how can you be a great friend. I LOVE Someone To Love Me because everything written in it is true.

Someone to Love Me (Book#4is a book about abuse.(Not everything but somewhat.)Cindy Gibson, is a teenager attending Bluford High. But she hardly ever even goes to school because she is constantly having to face a dilemma at home. Her moms boyfriend Rafie. but soon she goes back to school. Soon she gets the an important role in the schools newspaper. She gets the role of comic designer and needs to draw a picture for the newspaper. One day she meets Bobby Wallace.She LOVES HIM. She thinks she has found the "perfect guy". Bobby has had a bad reputation in the past. He was known for being a drug dealer and treating other girls bad. Although that was in the past, he says he has "changed". Cindy believes him, and goes out with him. They are always going put, and having fun. She had even forgotten about Rafie. Her life was okay. But soon alot of people start to worry about her. They are always telling her that Bobby is a bad guy and he is not right for her. But she defends him and tell them that he has changed and is a good guy. One day since Cindy dint meet him where he wanted them to meet, Bobby got really mad and held her hand really hard.Although it really hurt she still loved him alot. They went out to each chinees food and found something weird about Bobby. She saw Bobby talking to a guy in the same car Rafie drove. She asked Bobby but he got mad and told Cindy to mind he own buisness. As time passed by, he just treated her worst. One night Bobby told Cindy to buy herself something cute for Halloween. She took the money and bought herself something cute.
That same afternoon Cindy's mom tells Cindy that they are getting married. While her mom is excited, Cindy is not. The next day, Bobby and Cindy go to a party. The moment she gets there she feels that nothing is right. Alot off people are getting high and doing drugs. By midnight Bobby is high and has an overdose. The ambulance comes and takes him to the hospital. The next day Rafie is arrested and goes to jail. That same day Cindy tells her mom everything that has happened to her in the past. She tells her about Bobby and knows she has done a big mistake.

This book was interesting and shows you a little something about life and how it REALLY is out there. People are constantly being abused and getting high witout telling anybody. I recomend this book to anyone who wants to read about life. Everything is not how it seem.

When unexpected things come our way, we just have to learn how to face them. Anne Schraff purpose in writing ‘Someone to Love Me’ is to teach young adults, mainly woman a life lesson. The lesson to never let any relationship get too far. Where you find yourself at a point that you are in an abusive relationship as in this book showed. This scenario could happen to anyone. Many of the people that are in relationships like this, tend to keep quiet, make excuses, and pretend that it’s all normal. Situations like ‘Someone to Love Me’ so common nowadays. Anyone would be surprised how common abusive relationships truly are. This book truly has a meaningful purpose and moral to it.
This book was utterly moving. Because in the book, Cindy (the main character) had no one to turn to, no one to talk to who could relate to what’s happening to her. Not even her own friends, nor her mother. Cindy never went to school/ She always awaited her mother so she could spent time with her. But her mother’s main focus was her rude boyfriend. He makes fun of Cindy. Cindy always knew he was no good. This book was very interesting as well very dramatic. You really could never get bored while reading this book.
In ‘Someone to Love Me’ the greatest strength is how in the book there is always drama or something going on. It never gets to the point, where you want to put the book down. Although, this is a relationship novel. There is also action in this novel as well. The greatest weakness is that it ends so fast. The whole entire setting ends so fast. For example, the whole novel is over in a week.
This book is very well written. You feel like you are literally in the story. It gives the audience a well description of who’s around, how they’re feeling, and why. This book keeps you entertained. And before you know it, you have already read the book and gotten a good lesson out of it. So yes, I do recommend this book to anyone who wants to read about love, pain, and a beautiful ending.
The impact ‘Someone to Love Me’ has on the audience is truly inspiring. How Cindy finally overcomes her obstacles. And her mother there as well, to comfort her for the first time in a long time. “I think things are gonna get better around here,” Mom said. “I really do.” [Cindy’s Mom, 162]. Hearing those words, everything finally seems right. This book will have a positive effect on the audience. It will make your heart warm. This book will have a lasting value on you life forever, guarantee.

In this book, Cindy is a main character and she was studying at Bluford high school. She was living with only her mom who was never stay home because she had a new boyfriend. His name was Raffie; however, Cindy didn't like and also trust him at the first time she met him. Her friends were Jamee and Amberlymm who always got her to go to school. At school, Cindy had a new job with drawing for the school newspaper, so her friends were so proud of her.
One day, the boy was Bobby who liked to use drugs pay attention to her at the lunch. After school, he saw Cindy walking home from school, so he drove by Cindy and asked her to take her home. Cindy was a little confused, and then she decided to agree. From school to home, she was happy because she wanted to tell her mom about what happened at school today.
On the way to go home, she talked with Bobby, and she felt that Bobby changed and didn't use drugs anymore. When she got home to tell her mom, she went to Las Vegas with Raffie. Cindy felt so boring and sad because she didn't like to stay alone, so she went to her neighbor was Grandma Rosa and Harold. Harold was the same class with Cindy and was took care by Grandma Rosa because he lost his parents. That night, they gave Cindy an advice about Bobby was not a kind person. Her friends also warned her too.
On the Halloween night, Bobby invited Cindy to participate the party instead of she went out with her friends. When they came to the party, there were drugs and alcohol so she didn't like to stay anymore. And then Bobby went to bathroom and asked her to wait for him but when he return, he didn't see Cindy, so he got mad. He found Cindy immediately and started playing tricks her but her friends were there to save her. Bobby passed out because he used drugs. After that he was brought to the hospital.
Finally, he was fine. Cindy told her mom everything about her new job, Bobby, and also Raffie was a drug dealer. But her mom didn't believe her until the phone rang, it was Bobby, he told her mom the truth of Raffie and gave her some advices.
In conclusion, her mom broke up with Raffie and didn't want see him again. Also, her mom became good mom and behaved better than before.

In "someone to Love me" by Anne Schraff its about a teenager named Cindy who lives with her mom and her 2 cats. Cindy doesn't really like herself because she thinks that her mother looks beautiful, and she doesn't look at all like her. Her mother starts dating a man named Raffie, and Cindy doesn't like him because behind her mother he tells her that shes ugly, and he calls Cindy names. Since her mom started dating Raffie, Cindy stays all alone in the afternoons until she meets someone.One day she meets a guy named Bobby and she starts going out with him even though she knows that he has done bad stuff before, but he says that he has changed.

They start going out and things like like they are going right, but her friends keep on telling her to not be with Bobby anymore because he has done things in the past that weren't good, especially her friend Jamee, because she has gone out with him. Then one day Bobby decides to take Cindy to a party and she sees that he is not doing anything good. She sees that everyone is doing drugs, and she wants to go home, but Bobby doesn't want to, so he wanted to hit her, but Cindy's friends helped her. Then Bobby had to go to the hospital because he had done alot of drugs, and and Cindy decides to leave and she tells her mom what has been happening. Then they find out that Raffie sold drugs, and he got sent to jail.

My critique of this book is that I would give it 4 out of 5 stars because it was an interesting book about a teenager that is having problems with her boyfriend. I would also give this book this because it was a book on the real life of a teenager, and her trying to fix things beetween her mom, and her boyfriend hitting her. I would recomend this book to people who like to read the Bluford books, and for people who like to read realistic fiction books.

Bobby is a sweet boy that knows how to love his girlfriend. He is the type to buy her things and keep her safe. He is a wonderful boy but he is addicted to drugs. Once he sticks a needle in him he turns into this monster. Bobby wallace and Cindy are such a good couple but then he starts changing and then Cindy starts to know about her mothers boy friend ( husband to be ) being a drug dealer and she knows that bobby and him have a relationship, when she tells her mother her mother denies it. her mother doesnt want to believe it because she is so madly in love with him. Cindy is the same way up to the day at the halloween party when bobby passed out and drugs were spilling out of him. That ruined his whole life and his relationship with Cindy. When Cindy went home and tried to explain to her mother that her and her mother were just the same her mother refused to beleieve it, then cindy cried her eyes out. And then her mother finnally faced the truth and told the cops all that she knew about her boyfriend. Wen your in love with someone you shouldnt be blind to their facts, you should face them and see how its going to affect you. Drigs can really change a person. Its really crazy though how one little thing can change a persons life forever. How one little thing can mess up the greatness of someones life. Yeah Bobby and The other dude did love their woman but they put drugs ahead of their woman and thats what messed up their life. i learned alot from this book. This book was really great and i cant wait to read the next book. <3. Somethings just are never what they seem. ! Cindy is a girl that went to Bluford High school, and she is a freshman I feel bad for cindy because her mother is never at home beacuse she is always with diffenert guys. When Cindy meat Raffie he is Cindy boyfriend she didn't like him he would call her her bad names when Cindy's mother wasn't around.. : ( Cindy wouldn't go to school she would stay home and watch t.v. Jame and Amberlynn are good friends with Cindy they always look out for her. When Cindy went back to school they told her if she wouldn't to be the newspaper reporter and she said yes her friends were very poud of her..She was happy to tell her mom but when Cindy went home her mom wasn't their she was very sad she found a note on the refridgerator saying that she went on a trip with Raffie for one week.. Cindy went to a house party with Bobby..Cindy wanted to go home but Bobby wouldn't let her..When Bobby went to the bathroom and he came out he didn't see Cindy anymore..so he went outside and he saw her..Bobby passed put so they are to take him to the hospital..Cindy called her mother and told her what happend and she was very mad at her..Bobby and Raffie weren't good people they were both doing drugs Cindy knew about it..So she had to tell her mom when she told her mom she didn't want to know anything about Raffie anymore so she Beheive Cindy and now Cindy's mother is going to pick a better relationships..I love this book a lot it was very sad..But the good thing that at the end Cindys mother stayed with Cindy and they are happy now.. The book Someone to Love Me is about one of Jamee's best freind Cindy dating her ex-boyfriend Bobby. Cindy never got that much attention from boys they be always calling her ugly names but she felt special when she was around Bobby. Like her mother she was into this guy that also called Cindy ugly names. Cindy and her mother don't have a good relationship since her mother's boyfriend showed up. But when they both find out about there boyfriend's they are trapped.

In my opinion I really enjoyed reading this book I really didn't expect that Bobby and her mom's boyfriend were doing bad stuff. They ending was like an explosion it also related to the same ending with the book No Way Out. The only part I have yo say is that Cindy is very selfish and she was really rude with her friends and mother.

I would recommend this book to anyone that like to read about other peoples life and how they solve there problems. This book can be related to a lot of peoples life situations.

The book is about a teenage girl, her name is Cindy Gibson who thinks that nobody cares about her or like her. The main conflict is that her mom doesn't spent time with her, because her mom is always working or shes with her boyfriend. Cindy is trying to get her moms attention so that her mom can realized that her boyfriend is a drug dealer. The theme can be like a teenager girl trying to have a better relation with her mom. I think the only movie I can think of that can have some similarities and differences to my book can be Juno. The theme can be almost the same the characters have difficulties in communicating with their parents. The differences is that they teenage girls make different choices. I really like the book. I thought it was very interesting. Every time I read I just couldn't stop because I wanted to see what was going to happen or the decisions Cindy was going to make.

Can we talk about this beautiful book?
So I actually read this years ago when I was a teenager and to this day still remember it. Cindy was amazing. I felt for her. A teenage girl raising herself because her mom is off dating the local druglord. Then she starts getting attention from a charming boy from school. Of course she's smitten from his affection but then she starts seeing that there's alot more to Bobby Wallace and that he might not be the best choice for her. That he comes from a world of hard drugs, and unlike her mother, she realizes it's signs. This book touches on so much themes that are part of growing up and building confidence and relationships with the people you love. I really love this book and kudos to Anne Schraff for making it entertaining, dramatic, and beautiful all in one.

Someone to Love Me actually made me cry. It was such a short book, but it made me sob. This book made me realize how lucky I am. I have a family who cares about me. But, the girl in this book, Cindy, has a mom, but barely even cares about her daughter. I get made at my mom & dad all the time. But at least I have a mom & dad to get mad at. Cindy's mom is never even home. She doesn't have a grandma. I've always taken my family for granted. I've always taken school for granted as well. Cindy hates school because she's failing. And she doesn't see the point of going to school. I forget there are people who aren't as good at academic subjects as I am. I forget it hard for some people to get a better grade than a C in math. I forget & I get mad at things some people can't mad at. This book let me realize how unbelievably lucky I am.

I'm now on page 20. over the break I want to read at least 10 minutes every day. It will be easy for me to read because I'm not working do to my condition.
This book is about a girl that is having a hard time.. She is a loving teenager that feels rejected by her mother. She feels ugly and that makes her to be away from social life.. This book talk a lot about how she wished to be this and that and that relates to me because I felt rejected many times by people I loved and expected a lot from.. This is a example that rejection is not about been pretty, ugly, rich or poor. In life we will always find people we like and dislike, people that will love or reject us... It's Just life.... Be who you are and Don't do what makes others happy but yourself.

The book, Some to Love Me by Ann Schraff, is worth reading.
A reason why the book is worth reading is that the book is realistic; one example is when a parent is not very responsible in taking care of her daughter. Instead, she goes out with her boyfriend and leaves her daughter alone. The women is showing irresponsibility, and causing some emotional problems for her daughter.
The irresponsibility of the parent in the book, reflects some of the real live problems.
I like Schraff book, because it makes me visualize and connect to other texts.
A person who likes to connect to real life situations or to their own life will like the book Someone to Love Me by Ann Scaharff.

Someone To Love Me is a book about a girl named Cindy who feels like she has no one to love her.Her distant mother never pays her any attention because she's always with her drug dealer boyfriend, Raffie.Then Cindy starts dating her best friend Jamee's ex-boyfriend Bobby Wallace.At first Bobby treats cindy like a queen.As the days go by he bruise's her arm and starts behaving very strangley.A fellow nieghbor and classmate , Harold and his Grandmother , Ms.Rose try to tell Cindy that she should stop dating Bobby .But she doesnt listen until he ends up almost killing her at a holloween party.Jamee , Her sister Darcy , and their friend Cooper rush to save Cindy before its too late.

This book is about a girl who lives in an a apartment with her mother, and fees very alone. Her mom is never home and is always with her boyfriend, who is very nasty to her. She feels like she is always abandoned, and has no one to talk to. She skips school almost everyday. The only person she can really on is a friendly neighbor and her grandson. Then she meets Bobby. Bobby is her best friend's ex-boyfriend, who abused her very much. Cindy loves Bobby, even though she is afraid of him. He says he's never gonna do what she did to Cindy's best friend to Cindy. Then there's the party that Halloween night, and everything goes bad.

"Whats that?" her mother asked, pointing to the bruise on Cindy's wrist. "Nothing," Cindy answered quickly. "I bumped myself when i was getting something out the closet." Cindy moved her arm as she spoke so her mother would not stare at the bruise. There was no way she was going to tell her mother what Bobby did. The thing that struck me about this scene was about Cindy boyfriend Bobby abusing her and making bruises on her body. I thought that this would be a good book for me so i can learn from it. I was home when i read this scene.

I think the book Someone to Love Me by Anne Schraff is a very good book. It is based on reality even though it's a made up story. It explains a story of this girl named Cindy who has a mother who is barley around her or really care for her. Cindy finds someone who she thinks loves her who later becomes her boyfriend named Bobby. Bobby is known for abusing females and doind drugs. My favorite part of the book is when Cindy finally leaves Bobby and her and her mom developes a bond. This book is very understandable and I would recommand young adults to read this book.

I really like this book. It talks about how a family with a single mom tries to gets a man and tries to get married. She thinks that he stopped doing drugs..... but he didn't. Cindy, her daughter, tries to get her mind off of that, so she tries and gets herself a boyfriend. Her boyfriend talks to the moms boyfriend. They both do drugs but the girls don't know it. They end up having a lot of problems with them. I recommend this book to people that is having family problems or people that want ton know more about this life style.
