Great outlaws lost their lives to Ford. Ford Illuminati, Prez of the famed Bare Bones MC, is in the crosshairs of Noodlum, a whacked thug recently joined with the Cutlasses. When Ford’s company steals some highway workers of theirs, Noodlum lashes out with subterfuge, placing fake news stories about the club and stealing their identities to charge Cialis and penis weights. But the clincher is when Noodlum targets Ford's old lady, Madison. His twisted obsession with Madison puts Ford on the alert, and Santiago Slayer on his trail. But things haven't been going well between Ford and Maddy lately. His two jobs—Prez of the MC and his construction company—have got him working more than double time. Neglected and feeling unloved, Maddy has a meltdown when a patient of hers dies. She needs to do something different--something fulfilling. When she works at a clinic on the Indian Rez, a heartthrob doctor catches her eye. But he's not the real menace. Noodlum has come unhinged, targeting the light of his life—Madison Illuminati. Ford is forced to play along with the whacko's games, step by step. It will take the combined forces of his club and his company to emerge triumphant...to save his one true love and reclaim their marriage. Great ladies lost their hearts.

I've read all the books in The Bare Bones MC series but It Takes a Thief is my new favorite. The test of love, temptation, and suspense all rolled into one. No lulls in the story but packed with emotion. Ford and Madison are two of my favorites. Loved every minute of it. Great read.
This is my first book by Layla Wolfe. And this is the continuing story of Ford Illuminati and his wife and old lady, Madison. After many years of marriage, two kids, and a husband who is constantly working, Madison feels unwanted and unneeded. Ford is conscious of how busy he is and he's trying to break away from some of his responsibilities but giving control to others isn't easy.
I'm going to admit I was lost in this book at first. This is the seventh in a series, and this was the first book I had read. Because this dealt with a marriage of two beloved characters, I needed to read the first book in the series to see how it all began, and I'm glad I did. Ford and Madison's story needs to be read from the beginning, because like any marriage, you have to see the whole story.
Madison feels, not just unattractive, but overwhelmed and useless with her job. So she takes a leave of absence, and goes to a reservation clinic to help there. Showing just how out-of-touch Ford is, he doesn't even realize she's left!
I actually liked this book. There are several inconsistencies, but when I can't stop reading and can't put a book down, it's good. I will say that even though it is written as a stand-alone, this is one book that benefits from reading the first book in the series before you begin. As for me, I've read book 1, and book 7, so now I want and need to read books 2-6! 4-stars!
OMG I was on the edge of my seat with all the action, mystery, the emotions from Maddy and 'reaching in and slapping' Ford up side his head what not opening his eyes or ears or even his heart for his woman
We all know how Maddy and Ford got together, their hard times, their best of times and then sometimes it's up in the air. Well these two soul mates drifted away from each other, mostly on Ford's side. One man can deal with 20 some hours a day juggling 2 full time jobs and still have family life, and wham bams just don't cut it.
Maddy will have tough choices to make and her job and her mental state will need to be settled before she can be happy again. Lines will be close to crossing with a older stud of a doctor on Maddy's sabbatical. She will have to face a bunch g surprise and a decision that she might or might not let Ford know, but she'll keep her mind open
Ford will have a new enemy that will target Maddy in more ways then Ford would realise and the state the man his makes him worse then previous men. New 'prospect' one Maddy brought in, Galileo, blood brother of Ogden, Bent Zealots#4. He is like a grown kid but with the smarts of a grown up. Can't wait to read what he'll be up to in later on. Now will the next one be about the crazy love affair of Tracy and her dueling nerds, Wolf and Tobiah cuz t her is definitely something going one.
Will there be a a lasting connection between Madison and her steeled hunk of Ford? Or will they part ways for good so Maddy can finally be a peace with her new life? Or will a cell phone game prove to be the end of their love?
It takes a thief, book seven of this series (and honestly one of my favorite series by this author), brings back the characters from book one, Ford Illuminati and his ‘old lady’ Madison. With trouble in paradise between the two, Madison takes a job working at a clinic on an Indian rez where a heart-throb doctor seems to be just the distraction she needs. Meanwhile, Ford is dealing with an issue of his own, Noodlum, a new member of rival club the Cutlasses. When Noodlum begins to target Madison, Ford is forced to play along with the games and eventually brings his club and his business together to help him. Will Ford be able to stop Noodlum’s crazy antics? Or will Ford’s distraction be the end of his and Madison’s relationship forever? I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
It Takes a Thief, Bare Bones MC Series and this is book 7. Each book can be read as a standalone.
This is Ford and Maddison’s story. Both Ford and Maddy in The Bare Bones, book one. Now fast forward a few years.
I have to tell you I went back and forth as to whether I liked Maddy or not. I know all marriages go through rough patches and we take the good with the bad. Of course, she isn’t the only one to blame. After all it takes 2 to make a relationship. I can’t say more because I don’t want to give anything away. Also, you can read the synopsis that Layla Wolfe gave since I think the author does a better job with summing up their books.
All I know is that Layla Wolfe can write a SMOKIN' HAWT book! I almost felt like I needed a cigarette when I got done reading It Takes a Thief and I don't smoke! I can't wait to see what is next!
I did receive an Advance Copy for an honest review and I give It Takes a Thief 4.5 stars.
Ford Illuminati and Maddy, his old lady, are not spending enough time together. Is this going to end their marriage or will Ford be able to ease up with the work as the Prez of the Bare Bones and as the President of Illuminati Construction? Maddy decides to go away and work at a health clinic in Chinle. While there, she meets the sexy Doctor Ellis Chesbrough. Does absence make the heart grow fonder or will she give in to temptation? Meanwhile, Ford has gotten on the Cutlasses bad side. What is going to happen there? Layla Wolfe gives us a story that depicts what happens among the MC members and their families, a true brotherhood. We also learn Maddy has a stalker, real bad news. I'm not going to give any spoilers, but I will say that if you love the previous Bare Bones MC books, then you definitely need this book. There are a few twists in there you won't see coming. One-click your copy and catch up with everyone.
Maddy and Ford love each other but a busy lifestyle has caused issues. Throw in some danger and we have a story I found interesting to read. Ford is running his business and also the President of the MC. Feeling ignored, Maddy decides she needs more. Two people, in love but struggling with how things are. Can their relationship be saved or will the situations they are in tear them apart forever? I enjoyed finding out. Huge fan of Ford. Watching him realize what is important to him was great to see unfold.
I really enjoyed It Takes a Thief this book was great! It was good to read about Ford again I missed reading about him. I also missed the Bare Bones MC it was good to see them again. This book was hot and enjoyable. Ford is Prez of the Bares Bones MC and his ol lady Maddy are having issues and are struggling by not being together that much. Great book enjoyed it very much!
** I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book **
This book was a great read. Ford doesn't even realize that his wife Maddy left for her vacation. Maddy had a nervous breakdown and her husband is to busy to make her feel loved. At the end Ford makes sure that he will always be their for her.
Extremely entertaining, captivating and interesting sexy read. I could not put it down. Wonderfully written with strong, intriguing characters. I want to read more from this author.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Raw, gritty, and emotional with suspense, action, the occasional humorous moment, and some steamy scenes thrown in for good measure...in other words, a typical Layla Wolfe story and a great read!
Madison and Ford are having problems, both are at breaking point, and the unwanted attentions of Noodlum are the final straw.
Amongst the drama and emotions there is a serious thread to the story, how brain injuries can change behaviour and personality, and not for the better.

This is the first book in this series I have read and I loved it so much that I am going to make sure I go back and read the other books in the series. There were a few twists and turns in here that I most definitely didn’t see coming. I love MC books and this is definitely one of my favourites. I can’t wait to catch up and read the other books. Definitely a 5 star read for me.
Loved this book, got to catch up with Maddie and Ford. What a wild ride. Rings true to what happens to many young couples. My favorite of the Bare Bones series now. Waiting on the next book from this author.
Welcome back to the Bare Bones, some time has passed since we last visited but some things haven't changed. Juggling the club, the legitimate business and a family is not easy. Ford seems to have forgot what a family is and Maddie is feeling the loss. Needing a change of scenery Maddie sets out to find herself but she is not the only one who is going to see the light. Get comfortable, the journey is going to be epic. What can you say about a series that draws you in and captures your attention from the fist book. Each story pulls you deeper into the world of danger, brotherhood, violence and darkness. The storylines ensnare you, keeping you on the edge of your seat. The characters jump of the page taunting, tantalizing , touching the readers darkness and emotions pulling you deeper into a world that you would normally avoid. Ms. Wolfe's writing places you next to the characters, sharing their trials, heartbreak, revelations , friendships and love. You forget the characters are dangerous and see them as real people not threats. You laugh with them, get frustrated at them and sometimes you bleed with them. When the last page is turned you wish there was more and eagerly await what is going to happen next. A warning, this is not a flowery look at MC life, this is raw, violent and sometimes bloody. If this is not your thing, you may want to pass. I volunteered to read this story for my honest opinion.
It Takes a Thief is the seventh book in the Bare Bones MC series by author Layla Wolfe. Because this series is a continuation of characters we met in book one, you really do need to read this series in order. This is my first time reading this series, and I will admit the first couple of pages confused me at first. But I did catch on after a while. I really loved the character arc of Maddy. She is so lost and confused when we meet her. She has been through a lot and she is just in need of someone to lean on. Unfortunately, her husband is far too busy to be that person. So, she must learn to lean on herself for a while. I see towards the end where she really gets strength and pep. She is not a wilting flower but a strong capable woman who can fight for what and who she wants. Ford grows a lot in this book too. He must learn to say no, and communicate with those around him more. He is a strong character who always is in control but he learns that just pushes all around him away. Over all a great action packed read. I loved this one and look forward too many more in the series in the future.
OMG!!! This book will keep you enthralled from the first page till the last. Ford is the prez of the Bare Bones MC while his old lady, Madison, is a nurse in the ER. Life as a nurse can become hectic and heart wrenching. Trauma in the ER is sometimes normal, trauma in her not so much. Then to make matters worse, Ford is working more with his construction company and with being prez. Then to make life even more fun, a madman focuses on Maddy and is a danger to her. To top it all off, Maddy and Ford;s marriage is having a little bit of difficulty because of all the challenges and danger situations. What;s to be done or undone to get life back on an even keel?? Ford and Maddy and the MC have a lot to go through to come through hopefully unscathed on the other side! WOW! Fantastic story which will grab your attention from the first page to the last.

It Takes a Thief is book 7 in The Bare Bones MC series by Layla Wolfe and while I haven’t read the rest of the series, this book made it easy to follow along. I do recommend reading all of the others if you want the full experience and back story but it is not necessary. This story brings us back to Ford and Madison, it shows us how the priority of work is coming between their marriage and with Madison being at the end of her rope with being second best. Although now there is a new player trying to take down Ford and it puts Madison right in the middle of the crosshairs. Ford will not only have to fight for her safety but for their marriage too. I think that this is a good book and I am ready to read the rest of the series. I recommend this book to anyone that likes MC books.
What an awesome ride. This couple had a long tough road behind them. And it seems like its not over. Maddy and Ford has been together for a while, but things were not so happy lately. Ford has been pre-occupied with so many other things besides his women.
Maddy is feeling alone and her state of mind is not so good either. And when she meets an older doctor at the clinic she works at, will things change. While Ford is going through his problems his women is facing problems and issues of her own. Will this be the end of Ford and Maddy? Will they be able to save their relationship??
Hectic, drama, threats crazy man, and some smoking hot parts too... Definitely a on the edge of your seat book!!!!
My Review of It Takes a Thief by Layla Wolfe My Rating 5 Stars Ford and Madison’s story is one I have been waiting for more of and “boy’ did the author not disappoint me. The emotional rollercoaster ride this book takes you on right along side of the characters was incredible. Their story has it all angst, raw grit, intense passion and had me glued to the pages. The Bare Bones MC is one of my favorite series and if you haven’t read one yet, You’re missing out! This one is a great read and I can’t wait to see what she writes next! ** I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book in exchange for an honest review from Author **
I have all the books in this series and have to say this one is my favorite! I just loved this book, it has everything you may want in a story and Maddy was taken to a whole new level. Her character weaves a tale of growth and spiritual awakening. The new characters rocked it to the heart of the story. Please read you will not be disappointed, Layla always provides a excellent ride. You really rocked it this time, I lost a nights sleep reading this one. Keep them coming!
Good story of a struggling couple who really do love each other, but life has gotten I'm the way. Ford works too much, trying to manage his business and the MC, much to Maddy's dismay. As a nurse she works hard as well and is in need of a little change as well as some distance from Ford. Ford has to deal with a rival club and a rogue player out to destroy his club. Enjoyed reading this story as always there was some funny dialogue as well as some steamy sex!
Love !!! Can be read as a standalone but I suggest reading the whole series. Each book is entertaining and fun reads. Really no disappointment in this one. I read it very quickly. It held my attention and easy to follow. All the necessary themes for a good book are here. Well developed characters- impressive storyline/storytelling-packed with emotions--etc... I strongly suggest reading this one. It's a unique fun time. AndreaGAH ( ARC with an honest review)
Maddie needs a way to find herself again. She has become quite distant from her husband Ford. He is consumed by work and the club that she is feeling disquiet. She heads to the Rez to volunteer her nursing skills but what she finds is upset and and Ford finds an enemy interested in Maddie.
He has so much on his plate at the moment, his MC club and his company that he has not had time for his wife and marriage. She is feeling lost and lonely so she does something else and finds a young doctor who gives her attention. There will be a lot of trouble as someone is causing problems for her husband
I love Ford and Maddy's story , It's a love story that had it's ups and down , ford is a strong sexy alpha MC and maddie his better half is equally as tough and they make a great couple . another great book with a great ending.
The book has a good storyline that is compelling, gripping, and interesting. The characters are intriguing, engaging, and well developed. I liked reading this book.
