Absolutely fascinating story of how the great film NIJINSKY was finally made after 43 years of trying, of the endless auditions and then trials of transporting 200 people around Europe on a tight shooting schedule. Scenes that pass by so easily in the film took immense work to shoot and lists of props pages long. The leading actress became terribly ill for a month and the huge production had to work around her. The dancer playing Nijinsky was very young and a dancer by accident because his high school had no room for him in its acting classes; he was merely 22 years old. I ADORE this film made I think in 1980 and the complex story of how it finally came to screen, with gorgeous pictures of the historic characters and the actors, was simply wonderful.
