I was hooked from the very first page. So much drama, betrayal, and violence. Mix in a little love and lust, and you have a true page turner. Of course with all of this, there will be secrets. I love Ty, Drae and Lani's relationship. They are the real definition of family. I started out liking Asim, but once he started showing his true self, not so much. Dox is the man. He's my book bae of the day. Him and Lani are that couple. I need part 2 asap. I need to know if Drae is ok.

She changed it up
Best book hands down maaaannnnn she switched it up in this one I haven't read a book so damn good in idk hoe long, to have to strong ass sides.. Shan did her thing with this one for real i felt like I was in tha book sooo many emotions I need for my Dox and Lani to get it right

Pretty good
I really wanted to give this book 5 stars, but toward the middle it just went to the left. First time I've ever had to debate on this author's book. First off Doc was supposed to be the boss man, yet he let Asim and Tigger play him like that. Seriously isn't he suppose to know everything about those streets. Then there was Lani who supposed to be that gangster girl, but she allowed Dox to respect on several occasions with his baby mama. She sit there and allow Dox to tell her he going to spend the night with his baby mama and she sits around waiting on him for a whole week because she asked him what was up with him bm. Yet he always got made at her about her ex. Asim played everyone and no one was smart enough to figure out that he was a snake. I hate that the author made Lani so weak and Dox so dumb. I didn't like the ending at all. Why Dox get made when he had his bm at him and Lani's house, disrespecting Lani, but he didn't have a problem with the way he was acting toward his bm. I hope the author takes these reviews to heart and make some major changes to book 2.

Jaw Dropping Read!!
I'm at loss of words, Shan did not disappoint. A captivating read, that had me hooked from the very beginning. Asim, Lani, Drae, Tyson, and the gang took the streets by storm, showing anyone what would happen if you cross one of them. Yet one of them seemed a little shady to me and while reading further into the book I realized exactly why. Emotions quickly got involved for Lani and Asim but with side chicks, disrespect, and more things abruptly changes. I had a whirlwind of emotions while reading from happiness, sadness, laughter, and anger. I was torn that Tavia always ran to the ad of her family even though she had her doubt's. Dox, is a standup guy he saw what he wanted and sought after it. I loved the relationship he had with his lady but insecurities and jealousy always trying breaking them apart. Asim showed his true colors I'm in awe of how low he went. Drae, is his families keeper. This was a great read filled with love, murder, betrayal, twist, and tubes and so much more. Clutching my pearls!!
I don’t know what words to use without telling those who haven’t read it the story. I’m Team Dox by the way. I’m torn between feeling bad for Lani or just calling her plain stupid. As an emotional woman we can let the smallest thing cloud our judgment and make the most stupidest decisions.
Drae is my ninja! I absolutely hate everything that’s surrounding him. I hope he shakes back from everything and moves on with his family. Bad things always happen to good people.
Uncle Rock and Tyson ain’t as street as I wanted to believe. Uncle Rock of all of them should know better. Family will cross you out before anybody will. Regardless of the street code. I understood him wanting them to stick together because they were raised together but people grow up and apart. People have different goals and aspirations in life. He was raising a team while he had some set out to be a one man army.
Asim ran my blood pressure up so high, I’m afraid to start the next book.

The title supports Lani
I started reading this book for 2 reasons it is by Shan and her contest. I started out rushing thinking this was going to be the same ole. I was proven wrong. I can't wait for part two.
I was loving how tight the family became after tragedy. A man can not raise a lady. This is proven because Lani Baby was a savage and naive little girl. Lani got on my nerves acting as if what A was trying to tell her about staying in a females lane was a mystery. I have to agree no man wants to compete with a woman who is as tough as him. A is more like a B to me. Dude is whack. No one likes to acknowledge flaws in the people on their circle. But why does it take Dox to point out the foolishness? Let's not get on Dox, he is as bad as Lani assuming.
There were a few typos but nothing major. This a good read.

Good
I loved the story. It had lots of drama and action, which I love. I was feeling Lani and Dox relationship. Lani needs to start thinking for herself though. It seems anybody can tell her anything and she'll run with it. I really feel like she spent too much time worrying about what Asim thought after he dogged her after being raped. I don't know why nobody see the games Asim is playing. Now Dox may be going back to jail but I'm hoping Lani is okay and Drae too especially since he has a new love. Also, I like how Tamar, Rosalyn and Black were in the story. The errors were horrible because at times, you couldn't tell who was speaking. I had to take a star for that. I like how it ended and can't wait til part 2 drops. I love all books by Shan but it's always a wait between books 😠.

Good book
This was a good read! I was a little disappointed at how unbelievable some of the character's behavior was. Dox is a boss and deep into the game, so I can't understand how he let Asim live knowing that he is a snake that had something to do with him being set up and going to jail. I hope Lani can make it out alive because she and her team should have known Asim was a snake too. He is getting over like a fat rat and it's unbelievable to me. Everyone can't be this slow in the dope game. Lani let Asim great her like crap and gave him pass after pass, I'm thinking come on girl get a clue and trust your gut. Drae is the only one that knows how much of a snake Asim is and I hope he wakes up and is able to tell everyone that Asim shot him. Asim is getting away with too much! I'm interested to see how part 2 plays out.

Good from the beginning to end
I love all the characters in this book and couldn't put it down. I know it's hard to believe your family is not who you think they are but I was mad at the way this book ended. I know Lani and Dox didn't know each other well and had only been rocking for a few months but I thought they were gonna make it. After all the shady ways Asim treated Lani I can't believe her family still welcomed him with open arms and got mad when she finally had someone who treated her right. Asim fooled everybody and was so dirty and selfish. Dox seemed smarter than what he turned out to be. He warned everybody to watch Asim to not keep a closer eye on him. I just wish things ended different and Lani wasn't thinking Dox wasn't right. She deserved better and Asim deserved to go down not Dox or Drae.

After tragedy hits ,Lani is sent to live with her uncle and cousins.Growing up with all boys, she is introduced to the streets and it becomes a way of life. Lani quickly learns that the street life can be gritty and everyone can't be trusted,especially those close to you.Love and loss is the name of the game,who will remain standing after the dust settles?
This was a well written book,from the beginning to the end nothing but page turning drama.I enjoyed the flow of the book. The jaw-dropping moments were in abundance and definitely unexpected.Anticipating part 2,because that cliff-hanger ending was everything.Another banger by Shan,loved the fact you included characters from one of my favorite series Rozalyn.

OMG this was a great book I really loved it
It about childhood cousin Drae, Tyson,Lani, and friend Asim who was jealous and greedy and left her. For the side chick Namia after Lani raped and told her she couldn't have children . She met Dox and fell in love with him and Asim plotted and set up Dox. Asian and Tiger T one of his loyal workers he thought turned on him because he embarrassed in front of the crew that maybe his downfall. Lain is pregnant by Dox his baby mama this trifling hussy help with the set-up. Drae is shoot fighting for his life he got shot they are trying to put the blame on him and gun charges. Who will Lani will believe why Asim flip and turned on the whole family.

Lani did all that talking for what? I don't get how someone can do you do dirty but still try to see the good in them! Asim ain't shit and would never be shit! I knew ty was going to be on some other ish because of Asim but I didn't think it would be like that! I didn't understand Ty's logic on what was going on regarding Asim! Drae opened his eyes but never took care of the problem and I felt like it was because he was secretly hoping it A wasn't like that!
The Dame situation was confusing as hell to me too! It took dox no time but before dox Dame always had one up! Makes you wonder! Can't wait until part 2 to see how the rest unfolds

A Dope girl Needs Love Too: A Hood Love Story
I love this author Shan. As soon as this book was released on kindle I purchased it right away. I'm never bored when I read a book by Shan. Now I will be patiently waiting for the second book. I hope that Dox's name will be cleared. I don't want Lando to shoot Mulani or Tsim for that matter. I want Tsim to suffer for all the wrong that he has done to everyone. I really think that Tsim is the father of Amelia's baby. I wonder if Dox know about Sephora and Tsim. Can't wait to see how all of this plays out in book 2 in July. Thanks for Avery good read.

I was disappointed with the last one so to read this one I was a little on edge. The entire first part was boring and the same issues were being pulled along to the point that I was just about to give it up. I always enjoy previous characters to pop up but with this one, I was wanting to see if Dox was going to get it on his own or not. By the end, I was a bit over this seeing that all the mess Asim was on and nothing was being taken care of on the business side of staying on top of things. Add on top of that how long it takes the author to come with something new and I’m still not sure if I even want to get into this.

Pretty good job
Ok character development. Better than most of the other hood books anyway. Few contradictions. All the basic wack stuff was there (drug dealers, every nigga swear he the realest, etc) but strong plot, a little humor and a lot of action. What I like most was that it wasn't just absolutely outrageous. A lot of the authors play too much. At least this was like 65 percent possibly realistic. They should call that other shit Ghetto Epic Fantasy 😂. I wish this author would pick real titles for her work so it could be taken more seriously. I like her better than 95 percent of these other trash writers.

A Pleasant Surprise
I Saw THis Book In The Recommended For Me Books and I Thought I Really Didn't Want To Read A Book Abt Eight Balls And Ounces n shit lol. This Book Was So Much More Than What I Thought It Would B. I Really Njoyed This Book. It Was Nice In Length. I Hate Books With 200+ pages. I Read A Lot and Always Look At The Length Of A Book When Deciding If Its Worth My Time To Read and I Was Happy With This Book Having Abt 350pages. I Can't Wait For Part 2. Get This Book.. You Will Not Be Disappointed!!

So disappointing that I need to wait for the next series...
Shan I think everybody said the same thing continuously! Do you ever write a book that doesn’t have a series? Do you ever write a book that your readers do not need to wait months or years to read the next series? You are loosing your readers because I doubt if you are listening! You are a good author with really good storylines, but I want to be able to finish one of your books without waiting months or years for the next series. With that I’m giving 1 star which I had a zero star count...

Speechless
Let me tell you....this book was a roller coaster! The way Shan pieced every detail together had me on edge! I experienced so many emotions while reading, and I had to take breaks in order to calm down! There’s some shiesty mess going on and I’m here for it! Lani irritated me at times and the crew falling apart was shocking, especially A. He’s such a snake and I’m hoping he has a terrible, painful, slow death! With the way this ended,I know part 2 is going to be action packed!

Excellent Read
I loved this book. Again has to get what's coming to his dog ass. I loved Dox. I could see the growth in Lani. I understand that Dox has a child with Sephora and that's all they should be concerned with. Sephora is a no good as bitch. She will never be satisfied. Octavia's mother is wicked. She needs to be by herself. Amelia is a list soul. She needs help. She has the potential to grow. Her mother was not much of a mother. She is a product of her environment.

Great Read !!!!!!
I loved the entire book ! It was a thriller , kept you on your toes and had your emotions wrapped into it all at once , I would recommend this book to everyone who loves a good read ! It's definitely realistic ! My Fav person was Lani I loves her just for being herself . She had her girly moments wrapped up in the men but she was a beast in the streets ! & I loved it !!!! A Dope girl needs love too:A good love story
Amazinggggg is an understatement from beginning to end I was hooked I loved Lani Dox and Drae. Asim Asim Asim you would think he was the MAN but he is definitely Nothing but the definition of A jealous Petty snake a$$ dude and I don't respect him .....Shan definitely came through with the heat for this book I am definitely an over satisfied reader waiting on part 2 ....I need my lani Drae back in my life ASAP

Shan had done it again!! This was a great read! I love Dox and Lani together! I was so sad to read about Octavia but I'm glad that Draw met someone else, but then came the tragedy with him. Asim has got to go... I never liked him from the beginning. I can't wait to see the outcome in Part 2. I hope everything works out the way I want it too. Again Shan great job with this book!!!

Wowww!!!
I can't believe you just leave me hanging yet again..smh. That damn Asim is just down right dirty and wth Lani she is making me want to touch her. Dox is my boy and I know he will come out on top and cut the heads of all those snakes slithering around. I can't wait until the next book my month was left wide open..damn!! Shan you did it again your pen game is mean and I love it!! Great Job!!

Wowwww
This book is so good. I loved how long it is. It was almost like reading a standalone. This book is good from beginning to end. Asim better get what's coming to him cause he causing a lot of drama all over the place. I knew he was a f$&@ boy from the beginning. Shan you took your time with this and definitely delivered. I hope part 2 coming out soon cause I have see how this ends.

Shan did it again.
I won't lie at first this book didn't grab me. I love shan and will read just about anything with her name on it. So I kept going anyway. It was only the beginning because when the drama started it never stopped. Now I'm looking for pt. 2 for real I can't wait. Lani Baby ughhh what's the deal, you know Asim Is a snake , why trust him at all? I hope her and Dox get it together. Love them as a couple

Great read. I thought this was a standalone but glad it wasn't. I can't wait to see how this all plays out. Asim was an a**hole. Lani was naive. Dox was the man. Tyson & Unc Roc are in for a rude awakening when they realize that Asim is a fraud. His best interest is himself not the family.

Shan never disappoints
This book was one to go down as a fav of mine . I hope the crew can weed the snake 🐍 of the crew , it's always the ones the closest to you that deceives you 🤦🏽♀️ things always get worse before they get better,so I'm positive book 2 will be all that I expect and more.Can't wait 🤗

Great book
I felt like Lani was too cool with Asim after the way he spoke to her after the rape, regardless of them growing up together he always showed that he was selfish.....Lani was a little naive at times for someone that grew up in the hood, and lived the life that she had. I really hope things work out with Dox and her. Looking forward to book two. PLZ HURRY

I'm Ready for 2
I loved the flow and the characters in this book! I'm praying Asim gets his in the end. As they say, karma is a bitch, but he along with Sephora, and Ebony deserve it. I pray Lani goes with her heart and be a true ride or die! Drae and Dox, I'm cheering for you both to be on top! Great job Shan.
