Geri and James return in their most explosive adventure to date.
When next door neighbour, Lydia, gives birth to her second healthy baby boy, James and Geri pray their friend can finally be happy and at peace. But, little do they know Lydia’s troubles are far from over.
Meanwhile, Geri is researching several historic, unsolved murders for James' new book. She discovers one of the prime suspects now resides in Spring Pines Retirement Village, the scene of not one, but two recent killings.
Although the police reject the theory, Geri is convinced the cold case they’re researching is linked to the recent murders. But how? Will she regret delving so deeply into the past?

Praise for the author
This Author is a fantastic story teller. She just keeps on delivering the great stuff. I didn't think she could top the other books I read by her but she has out done herself again.
I have now read all of this author's books and they seem to get better and better. Can't wait for the next book, what a talented writer. You have quickly become my favorite!! Great job.
Netta Newbound knows how to make her characters real, and weaves an engaging tale that will keep readers absorbed through to the end.
This is the third in a series that features Geri and James. They research cold cases and James write the books. Because there are mentions of what has gone on before, I would highly recommend starting with Book 1.
When Geri researches several unsolved murders, she finds that one of the prime suspects now lives in a retirement home, where coincidentally two recent murders have taken place.
Geri is convinced that the cases are connected, but local police aren't buying it. That leaves Geri and James to investigate on their own... and facing danger on their own. Someone wants the past and the present to stay in the shadows.
This is not a hard core police procedural. It's a mystery that involves amateur private investigators. I took pleasure in the relationship of Geri and James. There's a lot of humor.. a lot of love. I enjoyed how they interacted with each other, as well as with all the others.
There's a second story line involving the next door neighbor. I can't say much without revealing a spoiler, but needless to say, they have their hands full.
It's a well written light and easy book. I look forward to reading the first 2 books in this series ... just to see what all I missed.
Many thanks to the author for the advanced digital copy of GRAVE INJUSTICE. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
Although this is the third book in the series, it's the first one I've read. There's enough background history about the characters to read this as a standalone and I throughly enjoyed it. I liked Geri and James and thought they worked well together as a couple. I think the multiple narrative is very clever ... I felt as though I was watching clips of a TV show - it also makes for a very fast-paced storyline.
This is one of those authors you just cannot read enough of. Her books have only what you want in them- action, great characters, wonderful writing, a fabulous mystery or two, and did I say action?! I really like Geri and her man James and the rest of her crew. This is kind of a continuation of the last book, but you could definitely read it as a standalone. Though honestly, why wouldn't you want to read the other books in this series, as they are all 5 star books (IMHO). This time Geri and James are investigating an old mystery that brings them to a retirement village. As with this writer, each of the retirees is their own very uniquely created character. The fun banter that Geri and James carry on with the oldsters is so lovable, and the way they dig into this old serial murder, that could be relate to a new series of murders, has the reader's head spinning with all the possible suspects. There is also some mysterious action going on with the sleuthing couple's neighbor, and a favorite quirky character, Mad Thomas, makes another appearance in this book. If you're a mystery lover, a fan of great writing, grab up this series and have your next few days filled with reading.
Grave Injustice by Netta Newbound. Wow what a read. One thoroughly enjoyed this book. Couldn't put it down. This is the 3rd in a series. I read and enjoyed book 1 and 2. Geri is married to James who is a crime writer. She is his assistant and they work on historic crimes that haven't been solved. A body is found near where they live. The manager of a retirement village. Geri starts to investigate. She and James goes to the retirement village. I loved how Geri was with the residents. As she delved into the investigation. I had no clue as to who it could be. Then there was her neighbour Lydia. She just had her baby and things are happening. Flowers delivered to her door that her husband used to get her. Is it her or has her sister returned? This was a fantastic read with brilliant characters. I really didn’t like that candice. She was evil. Poor Lydia. I do hope there will be another book. 5*.
The third book about Geri and James is another great murder mystery that you won't want to put down. Half way through the morning and I was still in bed reading! James writes books about previously unsolved murders, and his investigations take him and Geri to Spring Pines Retirement Village where they make some new friends. Sometimes new friends mean new secrets and James and Geri try to find out who is hiding what. Add to the mix a neighbour with a new baby, who is still suffering from the death of her previous baby - and doing some crazy things - or is she? Geri and James find themselves trying to keep their friend and neighbour from her apparent alcohol induced behaviour, and losing her new baby. I couldn't put this book down - read it in 2-3 days.
This is the third book in the Geri and James Cold Case series. A wonderful example of an edge of your seat mystery, love this couple and the way they investigate the crimes put in front of them.
In this instalment, their friend, Lydia is revisited by someone intent on causing mischief with her and her newborn baby, Lee.
As usual, Geri and James end up in the thick of a cold case and their friend's traumatic drama.
A fabulous read and great characters that you can feel at home with.
In this book we once again meet Geri and James who life seems to be anything but boring . the author delivers an amazing book that keeps you guessing right up until the end . The book is the third in the series and it is as good if not better then the first .
I was lucky to receive an ARC of Ms. Newbound's latest novel. A massive fan of her writing, it is more than a pleasure to catch up with familiar characters like Geri and James. This book once again sees Geri and James investigate unsolved historic murders, this time in a retirement village. But, little do they know, past and present are about to collide. Meanwhile Lydia should watch her back as Candice isn't far away! Don't miss this when it is released in August. 5☆ well deserved!
Another exciting story that I couldn't put down. I kept changing my mind as to who I thought had 'done it', not only because of the storyline, but because I didn't want any of the characters to be guilty, they were all so sweet. And then there was Candice; so sad in a way, the consequences of her actions, but she made for such exciting reading! I must say, I didn't expect that ending; talk about leaving us hanging.......!!! Brilliant, brilliant story!
This was a middling cozy with two cold-case plots—one about multiple murders from 1979 to 1993, and second, a murder in 1998. The cold case investigations are straightforward, so it’s not difficult to eliminate suspects in the first case and decide on a culprit in the second. Add to that the lack of decent red herrings.
The subplot had OTT melodrama about a friend’s family. Plus, even for a cozy, there’s too much information about babies. This 363 pg cozy could have shed 50+ pages.
I nearly abandoned this book because the pacing became glacial in the middle with family/baby information overload. I wanted to see how the author ended the book, so I skimmed until the pace picked up toward the end.
I’d rated this 3 stars until the end when the author tossed in a twist—one I’d expected earlier in the book . . . Uh?
SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS
Then I realized what the author did with her denouement: the police chose to NOT disclose the multiple murderer’s name, thereby the title’s “Grave Injustices.” With the police coverup of the murderer’s identity, perhaps the civilian POV characters can/could/should allow a killer of just one person to skate.
I loved this book, well I love the whole series. Okay, I love all of Netta Newbound's books. They only get better and better and if she keeps on like this she will go down in history as a literary genius. Well as for the book, it was full of suspense and mystery right from the beginning to the end. There was danger lurking just around the corner for all the characters and what was worse, they didn't even seem to be aware of it. And if they were, they didn't seem to be able to protect themselves, because they didn't know who the criminals were. Which makes you, the reader, spend the whole read very much on edge but at the same time, the book is so good you don't want it to end. If you haven't read this book, or if you haven't read Netta Newbound books yet, I'd recommend you stock up on all her books before you go on holiday and then read them all through one right after the other, because you will never want them to end and at least this way, it's a little bit like they never end haha. Fortunately she's prolific so hopefully I won't have to wait too long for the next one.
Although this is the third book in the series the author writes in such a way that they can be read as stand alone books. Once again we meet with James and Gerri who investigate old unsolved crimes. This time it takes them to a retirement home. They are sure some of the old dears would be able to help them solve a case they are working on. They become firm friends with some of them. Bit by bit little snippets of information gets revealed that quite shocks them. Also back is their neighbour and friend Lydia, who they help after she gives birth to her son Lee. Is she drinking again or having a breakdown? Can she cope with a new baby after she lost her first born in such tragic circumstances? Or is someone out to destroy her happiness? I have read every book from this author and have thoroughly enjoyed each and everyone. Not only does it get a thumbs up but also a full five stars from me. This is my honest and unbiased review.
I just love the way this author writes, each book being able to be read as a stand alone or a follow on. All the characters are drawn together in yet another cold case with one theme in mind,to bring the killer/s to justice. A very intricate web is weaved around a story of several past murders which were never solved but clues are slowly uncovered through visiting a retirement village. A truly gripping book and one that I found hard to put down.
This series was again brilliantly written by one of my favorite authors. Put one book down and couldn't wait to start the next. Will there be another cold case? I can only hope. Grave Injustice had me wondering what on earth more can happen to this couple and their good friend Lydia? Oh my, Ms. Newbound, you did it again, had me turning the pages well past my bedtime.
Geri and James are back in another great instalment, these characters are very well written and in depth and like the other two books I’ve read in this series, it’s almost like two stories in one. At times an uncomfortable drama and then straight to the serial killer plot, it’s an interesting read and easy to get hooked.
Another brilliant read by Netta Newbound. Love all the characters, you can't help but grow to love them over the series. Great storylines, well thought through. Gritty and fast paced, just what I've come to expect from these stories
This is the first book I've read by this author and it won't be the last. James and Geri are a great team investigating murders. If you enjoy mysteries, sit down with a nice cuppa and get lost in this. Great read
A great book to say the least. This is the 3rd of the set and a huge page turner! Think I found a new to me author! I will have to catch up by reading the first two of the set. Great writing skills, amazing story plot and characters!
This is the third book in the cold case series, the first and second are equally great as the third. I definitely think there is enough background to the characters in grave injustice to be read and enjoyed as a stand alone.
All three books tell the story of Gerri and James’s gripping journey full of murders, mysteries, suspense and action along the way!!
Grave injustice had me on the edge of my seat, I knew what I really wanted to happen but was never sure what the outcome would be, I was so caught up with the plot and the characters I felt myself feeling emotions and willing for things to happen, however as with Netta Newbounds other skilfully written books you’re just never quite sure what will happen next.
