She thought she had escaped. She couldn’t have been more wrong.
Months have passed since Ruby managed to flee from the demonic children that hunted her in the Yukon wilderness. Still, she can’t shake the memory of their obsidian eyes and the crippling fear that they aren’t really dead. With distance, time, and her new job at a ski resort, she hopes to bury the past and move on. Her days are simple. She works the gondola to send visitors up the ragged mountainside to the restaurant at the summit, and never stays out past dusk.

Then a group of skiers mysteriously disappear, and Ruby is forced to break her own rules. Along with her coworker, Tristan, she must wait for the rescue crew. As night descends, stranded on the top of the mountain, a living mist rises, and her greatest fear comes true. Exhaustion, terror, and madness take their toll, and Ruby and Tristan are forced to rely on each other, or perish. But trust may prove to be just as deadly as what is lurking beyond the door.

Because the children have survived. And they really want to come in.

Even Freakier

In this second book of this trilogy, Ruby has tried to put her past behind her as she begins working at a resort located in the mountains. But the past refuses to stay behind her as the black eyed children find her once again. The only problem is that she is stuck on top of the mountain and the only other living person with her is a very cynical guy named Tristan. Will she survive this new attack or will the black eyed children get their revenge?
This trilogy is awesome so far. I encourage you to pick up the first one before reading this one, because I know you'll get hooked like I've been.

Better than the first book!

The first book seemed a little shaky with awkward word phrasing during action scenes, but I feel Clancy greatly improved you fixing this in the second book.

This book did not slow down! I was on the edge of my seat and I loved how she wrapped up this story very nicely, yet left it open for wanting to read the next.

Spoiler warning:
I loved Tristan. He was great character and I was so glad he didn't die. I thought it was nice that Ruby made herself a friend and they survived the ordeal together. I hope he's in the third book...

Well onto book three!

Excellent second helping

It's rare that a sequel can top the first but this one surprised me. I hadn't really engaged with the first inasmuch, it was enjoyable but didn't grab me. This one is so much stronger. The characters feel more developed and the story carries you along at a pace. Scary and with the tension held throughout this was a terrific read.

Good but predictable

This book was too much liked the first one. It started out good but quickly evolved into a repeat of Ruby's Yukon experience which took out some of the excitement for me. Makes me hesitant to read the third book of the series. This one is slightly less captivating than the first book.

Creepy & nerve racking

You need to read 6first book in the series to fully understand the story here. It continues with Ruby & in this story there seems to be no escape & things are really bizarre. She has someone with her this time - a coworker named Tristan. Like I said, things are really weird and terrifying at the same time. Like the 1st book, it's scarry as all heck!!

A very creepy sequel!

Another very scary story about those creepy kids. I found myself shivering at times while reading this. Great believable characters! I think the Gondola scared me as much as the kids. I'm a bit afraid of heights. 😱

Black-eyed children...what are they? Aliens? More than human they knock 3x and have to be invited in private spaces. Surviving them isn't easy, what are you going to do? They invade and find you at every turn..even when you think you have killed them....Are you running far enough?

The terror continues!

Great addition to the series. How much torment can Ruby handle? At least this time she isn’t alone. Will that really help her escape the black eyed children? If you liked the first book, you will enjoy this one!
