How do you fight a villain who's convinced the world he doesn't exist? Dire has done the unthinkable, and forged an alliance with a hero to bring the fight to the Murder Maestro, in the heart of Britain itself. But the sinister mind manipulator's roots run deep here, and Dire will find herself up against both new faces and old foes... not all of them human. Her travels will take her to worlds beyond, and places most would tremble to venture. But she is Dire, and all shall tremble before her! This is the fifth novel from the Tales from the Teslaverse project.
I like the way the series is going. There was a jarring 3rd volume with some questionable plot choices but Mr. Seiple got everything back on track. Some returning characters in this one as well as some fun new ones. Dire’s new entourage in the form of The Chorus adds some funny banter and neat characters to the fold. Currently one book left in the series and so far it’s been a pretty enjoyable ride.
Note: I listened to the audio book but its not listed on Goodreads.com so I'm putting my review here.
Dire finds herself teaming up with a hero, albeit an intelligent one for a change, to bring down a mind-control villain who bases his organization on the seven deadly sins.
Again, this is a well above par book. I didn't like how some of the things with the hero helping Dire played out but, hey, its not my world or characters. What's important is that the author tells the story so I can see his rational for the story as told, whether I like it or not. Really it just boils down to being a good communicator as an author, which Mr. Seiple is and so many others are not.
a bit better than the last two Let's face facts. The stupid, pointless, and needlessly cruel ending of Dire: Time took a giant dump all over this series. No matter how good each book might be after that, the whole thing is under cut and tainted. Now we have only one more book to go with no explanation in sight and it still seems like a unnecessary act of self mutilation. Anyway, This book was a bit more fun in general with the exception of some heartbreak. Not teen angst heartbreak like I'll never love again; But adult heartbreak like you find out grandma's got cancer but you still have to go to work today to make rent this month. Other than that it was fine.
Love the series and love Dire, this book (at least the last 80%) really steps up to the plate and delivers. So why the missing star? Two things didn't really sit right. First, the silly little domestic thing at the start - what the Hell was that? Secondly, I really hate these silly British accents. I worked for a number of years in the UK and nobody talks like this, kinda like those southern accents they try to do, sugah. Still all that aside great book and looking forward to the next
I feel like this book rivaled Book 3 or the original DIRE saga. The sheer amount of badass within this can't hardly be contained or even hinted at with a brief review. Definitely one of my favorite villain/anti-heros to have ever had the pleasure of reading. Cannot wait for the next DIRE book!!
This series has been highly entertaining in all aspects. Great characters and storylines. Each book continues to get better and more entertaining. Looking forward to Dire vs. Hell
Dire keeps getting better, character development , interesting new places , situations and players as well as resolving old storylines. A satisfying read. I have difficulty putting Dire stories down.
