Aliens In Kilts #3

Shades of Darcone

Rate this book
Trouble, she is. Big trouble. HIS trouble.

New Earth humans call him Alien, but it is they who are strange. His fierce appearance and stilted speech ensure no human bride will choose him. Such things only matter if you care, and for now, Darcone does not.

On his planet, he is revered as a mighty warrior. On Earth, he meekly serves as an Admiral’s guard. Why does he stay on this nearly hostile planet? Because answering to humans is still preferable to obeying the wishes of his family to mate with a woman he does not want.

Humans and their drama—he wants no part of it. No. That is a lie. He wants her at any cost. He’s always wanted Bri. But a good bride, the woman is not.

Fierce, Commander Bri is—and noble, but still a female. The idea of her ever being in danger makes him in growl in fury, fueled by emotions he’s never felt before. Caring points only to one truth—a truth Darcone wishes with all his oversized heart to deny.

Has he really been waiting two hundred years to make Brianna McNamara his?

The 3rd installment of the Aliens in Kilts series is just as fun as the first two. Lots of romance and laughs rolled into this sexy sci-fi adventure. Looking forward to more!

Shades of Darcone by Donna McDonald
Aliens in Kilts #3

What a witty, fun and wonderful series this is AND I loved Bri and Darcone as characters and as a couple. The two have been attracted to one another for EVER and so deserve their HEA when it finally arrives. Sure, there are evil to overcome, some fighting, other aliens in need of spouses and some interaction with the couples from previous stories BUT all is part and parcel of this delightful “sexy, spoofy, outrageous, Sci-Fi Romance Fun”.
* Did I enjoy the story? Yes
* Do I recommend this book and the books that came before it? Definitely!
* Do I want to read I Am Toorg when it come out? Without a doubt – and hope he gets his HEA, too.

I loved the growling, the dialogue, the surprise character…I could not put it down and want more right now!

Thank you to the author for her amazing mind and the copy of this book to read – This is my honest review.

This is a great series! McDonald is a talent for creating heart rendering characters and weaving a paranormal world with matchmaker time traveling heroes. This is the third in the Aliens in Kilts series. These are quick amazing reads and should not be read as stand alone. Angus and Erin arrive on New Earth in the beginning and it is their purpose to match earth women with a broad selection of alien males. The personality of these pairs are both humorous and romantic. Darcone gets his chance at finding his true love in Commander Brianna. Routing for their eventual happy ever after is intense and will keep a smile on your face. "A copy of this book was provided by author Donna McDonald with no requirement for a review. Comments here are my honest opinion."

Third book and this series just gets better and better.
There is romance, humor, drama and understanding of the complexity of a relationship, within these stories. This is not something new, if you have read any other of Ms McDonald's writing.
I loved the interaction between the two characters Bri and Dracone, one can imagine such a fearsome alien being brought to his knees by such a feisty human female.
I can only encourage you to read this series, but do so in sequence, as it is a story of the lives of characters, and missing a book, would take a gret chunk ou of the overall picture being developed.
I have voluntarily submitted this review after reading an advanced copy of this book.

As an admitted sci-fi geek, I have loved this series and the first two books. But this one? It made me laugh and cheer for Darcone from page one! It is a standalone however for me, it is always fun to read about all the characters from past books and read them interacting in the present one.

Darcone. To me, he is a very tall Yoda. Fierce looking alien. Tall, big. Loyal. With a heart of gold but that heart beats for only one person…Brianna (Bri) McNamara. And Bri is now Commander of the ship where this story takes place and an important member of “the family”. I truly cannot explain the story, or do it any justice, as it is a wild, fun ride. Suffice to say that these two will do a mating dance around each other that has been happening since well, forever!

If you enjoy sci-fi shows, there will be much sneaky humor – I’d laugh so hard I couldn’t even catch my breath to share the joke. Even Matthew and Evan are fun…and you’ll meet them very early in the book. Poor Darcone gets a very big “surprise” in this story as well, as if being around Bri isn’t fun/trouble enough. Love this series, love Darcone and the rest of the crew, and Bri and Darcone have one wild ride to Crazytown!

Shades Of Darcone by Donna McDonald is outrageous funny but with a lot of heart. Two more stubborn, mighty and noble couldn’t be found other than Commander Bri and the Admiral’s guard Darcone. I enjoyed watching these two knock heads as they worked through the differences to find their HEA.

Aliens in Kilts is a campy series that always bring a smile and sometimes a full laugh as I read it. Alien Darcone with his fierce appearance (fitting cover) is the perfect mate for Brianna who is a fierce human commander.

I think that one could read these out of sequence but I feel reading them in order has enhanced my appreciation for this world and these characters. Love this new earth that Donna McDonald has created. Silly at times, yes, but it is encouraging to believe that humor will always survive along with love. Such a fun read.

An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher/author.

Darcone is one many faceted alien, maybe not fifty but many. Always holding his feelings, emotions, and intentions to himself he is a scary mystery on the AAS. Brianna McNamara, now Commander of the ship has had a major crush on Darcone since she was sixteen. Now she's determined to have Darcone at least once. Along with their fumbling romance and hilarious digs at some of my favorite SciFi shows, we get more of the overarching storyline of deceit and corruption in a leading scientific company and maybe the government. This series has some killer plotting, a smooth flow in the storytelling, and scientific possibilities that fuel your imagination.

Shades of Darcone is the third book in Donna McDonald's Alien's in Kilts series. I really love the characters in this series and Darcone and Bri are no exception. Bri is fierce but still vulnerable, Darcone is a confused alpha alien. It's obvious to everyone but them that they are a great match and are stronger together. Besides the romace there is lots of action and adventure to drive the plot. Another great read from Donna McDonald.

Holy crap!! Such incredible action and characters and Wow!  Love Bri and Darcone together. She definitely will  be able to stand up to him LOL.  Angus and Erin continue on with their matchmaking and in their plans to improve the service and the live of the brides. Sheena and Nate are managing to keep things interesting and Nate's family ... nuts and out of touch.

Love this series. I look forward to it living long and prospering!  :)

Love conquers all

Family issues are the theme of this story, both good and bad. The Commander and Darcone have wanted each other since she was a child. The Admiral' s father wants to kill multiple people and shut down the bride's program. The fun continues with the matchmaker's and there's lots of action in this one.

This was a fun read. The Scottish accents that didn't really work as they are nothing like Scottish accents were less of an issue in this book in the series and Darcone's speech works as no one knows what alien sounds like. Both Darcone and Bri are interesting characters that are very likeable - you want things to work out for them. I wll look out for the next book in the series.
