Just re-read this again recently. One of my core books which I use as reference for my own writing activities. The book spans the sailing age to modern times and provides a clear, easy to comprehend view of tactics from the perspective of the fleet.

Became aware of this book seeing it in the opening credits of the movie The Hunt For Red October. A very deep book about naval warfare. Some of the sketches are very simple and some are hard to understand.

A very, very good book. If you read only 4 or 5 on naval strategy and tactics, include this one.

Fun fact for those who may care: This book appears in the first frame of the film Hunt for Red October, but that would be an anachronism. HFRO is set in 1984 and it wasn't published until 1986.
