Garuda, eagle-faced son of sage Kashyapa and Vinita, had strength that surpassed all the devas in Indralok. He was required to bring the plot of Amrit or Nectar of Immortality, to save his mother from slavery.
The story of Garuda and his task to free his mother from servitude is a story any loving son will understand. Garuda is a leader who is not afraid to serve others; we can learn important lessons about sacrifice and honor reading about him; how our motivations ultimately determine the path we choose to take.
Garuda is one of my favourite deities and I love him so much. Reading the Amar Chitra Katha version turned out to be damn perfect! The baby vainateya hatching out of his egg was really cute! His strength and valour is depicted beautifully!
An Amar Chitra Katha comic book never disappoints. This one is no exception. Right from my childhood to now, the sense of fascination and wonderment continues. The chronicles of Garuda in this book are terrific — right from His birth to becoming a vahana (mount/vehicle) of Bhagavan (Lord) Vishnu’s. Loved it. Highly recommended.
Read this book to my 2-year-old niece. The book was very illustrative with pictures and one-liners to keep her attention. So we enjoyed reading the book
In this book we get to know the divine life history of Garuda, Lord Vishnu's vehicle and Arun, Lord Surya's charioteer. I felt really bad to see Vinata suffering because of Kadru. Points could have been added as to how Lord Surya's charioteer developed his legs. I feel that Kadru has a really wicked nature and does not even show respect towards her elder sister. Clearly, respect should have been meted out towards the elder one. Overall, this book was great and it gave all the details of Garuda.
Good book and quite informative. Loved reading this to my daughter who's 6 years old. Would recommend parents to read it to kids so that they learn history.
Excellent retelling of one of my favourite personalities in Hinduism; Garud, the Divine Bird. Our kids can learn a lot about Garud from reading this book.
Includes one long story, Lord Garuda's birth story and how he got amrita kumbha (pot of divine celestial elixir) from the Devalokha(the adobe of gods).
