A gripping and dramatic short read from the master storyteller Barbara Taylor Bradford.
Beautiful, artistic and creative, Allison Jones is a force to be reckoned with. Growing up amongst a family of men, she is the treasured gem at the heart of a large and boisterous clan of cops.
After the tragic death of her mother, Allison had thrown herself into her work, but then she meets Mike. Neither one of them is prepared for the power and intensity of their love for each other.
So, when tragedy strikes, Allison’s life is derailed once again. Her over-protective family have looked out for her all her life, but they cannot protect her from herself…
Barbara Taylor Bradford was a British-American best-selling novelist. Her debut novel, A Woman of Substance, was published in 1979 and sold over 30 million copies worldwide. She wrote 40 novels, all bestsellers in the United Kingdom and the United States.
A bit predictable for BTB but this isn’t her usual fare. Short format of 100 pages is more like an introduction for her regular novels! Still, we have a bit of complexity in the characters and some entanglement with the love story. Add to that an Irish family that works hard, loves fiercely and comes to the rescue when needed and this quick read is very good and could be the start of a saga worthy couple. Lots of drama, vengeance that needs to be wrought and a BTB power couple just waiting to be expounded upon in perhaps 800 pages📚
This was a delightful story that warmed my heart. I wish the author had taken the story even further. I felt as if I was left hanging by not knowing how they shared their lives, and how Allison was able to get her company back from Peter. Sometimes revenge is sweet.
I have been a fanh of Barbara ,s since I read. A woman of Substance.Since I have been unable to read a book,, after surgery I have turned to my largprint Kjndlie for my reading. What A thrill of was to find this book . I will be looking for more of her books to read or listen to on my Kindle. Grace. Canady
There is not a book that Barbara Taylor Bradford that is not only good , but full of compassion, heartache, and love. I ha e not read all her books, but I will continue to read them. The only thing I want too ow is when the next in this series will be out! I want to know will happen to Peter and if he will finally have his comeuppance
Lovely story. Full of Romance with a tinge of sadness. Accurate portrayal of Allison and her fall into depression. This novella contains passion, deception, despair and an enduring love. which overcomes all. Aptly titled as in my view each character is damaged in their own way.
I found this book to be boring. The book starts in the present then spends much of the rest of the book in the past. Skimmed most the book. Only read the beginning and the end.
Overall, I didn’t care for this novella like I did her others. I couldn’t connect to the characters and the story felt rushed & off to me. The second half was better than the first. I’m a big fan of Barbara Taylor Bradford, but this wasn’t up to her usual par.
I really enjoyed this storyline, but I had to skip through the book to keep my interest on the plot. I enjoyed the characters. This Author is one of my favorites, and I will definitely read more of her books.
I gave up on this book several times because it seem like the typical boring story of love instead of I was pleasantly surprised not boring but ok for a quick read. I did enjoy the read.
Not a bad little read, although it ended rather abruptly at about 75%, the other 25% being taken up with a preview of another book. Always irritates me when that happens!
