Claire loses her parents to a fatal car accident when she is just a little girl. She grows up in her old-fashioned and somewhat eccentric uncle's home in London until she is old enough to find out the truth. She has inherited her parents' home, an old mansion, which stands proud and tall on top of a hill surrounded by a forest near a little town called Maenfield. She decides to move to Maenfield to live in the mansion hoping she can perhaps recall some of the forgotten memories of her parents and childhood. She soon discovers the mysteries of the mansion, and hopes it will put an end to her reoccurring nightmares, which are of the mansion's previous owners, but mostly of the dark natured yet irresistible Valens Lukrád, Count of Vlampui. Strange things start to happen in the mansion, and Claire soon realizes that she is not alone...
Claire has lived with her uncle since her parents died when she was three years old. When she turns 21 her uncle tells her that her parents left her a mansion to live in. She goes to live in the mansion but experiences nightmares and meets a handsome stranger whom she is attracted to. But is there more to him than meets the eye? This was a good story but it was let down by poor formatting and it was more tell than show. The dialogue was very formal and needs some work too. I think with a good edit this story could be improved greatly.
This book was good. I think I would love to be told at 21, I own a mansion. The story is good and the I enjoyed the characters in this book. The mysteries of the mansion are intriguing, I thought. * I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review*
