Wonderful book about a young girl named Holly who is learning subtraction with her number friend Digit. This book presents different situations that Holly encounters that have her use subtraction. On the side of each page are boxes that explain different subtraction math terms. After reading this book, I would write the same word problems as in the story on different chart paper and the students would go around the room solving them. Grades 1-3.

This series is great because they are books meant for entertainment and they consist of books that constantly ask questions about the activities they are doing in the reading. This book in particular has beginner level subtraction for 1st grade students.

This book is full of subtraction problems. It helps students understand subtraction and explains the vocabulary associated with it.
