‘Absolutely fantastic!... I cannot recommend this book enough!!’ Stardust Book Reviews, 5 stars
When Evelyn Dooley married her high-school sweetheart, James, she thought she was set for life. Now she’s twenty-eight, single, and fleeing to Dublin from her hometown to avoid the gossip surrounding their break-up. And all because of a test-your-relationship board game.

This was not in her five-year plan.

Then a chance encounter with gorgeous musician Danny leads to an unlikely friendship, and soon the pair are running music nights together in one of the oldest pubs in Dublin. For the first time Evelyn is following her dreams rather than someone else’s – and sparks are beginning to fly between her and Danny...

But when her savings run out and home beckons, Evelyn has to choose. The safe, comfortable life she left behind, or a new adventure with Danny? Will Evelyn flee back to the familiarity of her ex, or reach for the stars and take a leap into the unknown?

A laugh-out-loud, feel-good story of friendship, second chances, and romance, perfect for fans of Mhairi McFarlane, Lindsey Kelk and Marian Keyes.

This book was previously published as Reach for the Stars.

Colleen Coleman is an Irish- Canadian novelist. She is the winner of the much-coveted Novelicious Undiscovered People’s Choice Award which launched to find the next ‘chick-lit star’. She spent over ten years working as a teacher of English and Philosophy before finally taking a deep breath, scrunching her eyes shut, putting her pen to paper and vowing not to lift it again until she wrote the words The End. As a result, her first novel was born. Colleen lives between London, Ireland and Cyprus with her very patient husband and very chatty twin daughters. Don't Stop Me Now is her first book and will be released in February.

About Don't Stop Me Now....I sat beside a girl on an aeroplane, we started chatting and over five hours we emptied the Easyjet mini-bar of JD and coke, ate our baggage allowance in crisps and by the time we landed, tipsy and yet still ravenous, we knew each others’ life stories. She was super-bright, kind, funny, beautiful - but what really struck me was that she was a psychologist yet her own head was all over the place! She seemed to have a blindspot when it came to her own ‘issues’ and I found this apparent paradox fascinating.

As I hugged her goodbye at the arrivals lounge, I just knew I’d met someone very special and I had the first chapter of DSMN scribbled down by the time I went to bed that night.

Set your sights on the sky and reach for the stars.

Don't you just love it when you go into a book warily, fully expecting it to be mediocre at best, but then end up loving the hell out of it? Granted, there's something to be said about finding an author you can count on to never let you down, but finding an unexpected masterpiece where you didn't dare look for it... Heaven guys, heaven!

The way I see it, both this book's title (or you know, rather the labeling as a "laugh out loud romantic comedy") and its cover are totally misleading. They make it look so terribly chick-litty; superficial, sassy and slap-sticky, and while that genre definitely has a good share of fans out there, I am not one of them. I regretted requesting this book the instant I clicked on the button. Funny development, though: now I couldn't be happier about it!

This is the beautiful, heartfelt tale of a young woman, Evelyn, who longs for a new start after divorcing her high school sweetheart after 7 years of marriage. Leaving behind the security of her small town life, she heads to Dublin to start over. But, things don't work out the way she planned and she ends up tending the bar at a charming but rundown pub in the heart of the city.
Even more to her surprise, for the first time in years, she's finally, genuinely happy - making new friends, finding a new purpose, taking risks and falling in love again.
But, when tragedy strikes, she stands to lose all she has worked for.

Evelyn was such a phenomenal female lead, so full of hopes and dreams. I admired her courage to finally go after what she wanted, to take responsibility and pursuit her own happiness. She was smart, mature, passionate and kind, and I thoroughly enjoyed her voice.
I've done safe, I've done easy, I've tried to live small. Now I'm ready to go hard or go home.

It felt so genuine and authentic, and the addition of so many lovable secondary characters (I actually fell a little in love with Christy) made this even more enjoyable and hard to put down.

I loved the book's message and that it, despite what its title may suggest, wasn't solely focused on the romance part (though Danny and Evelyn's love story was definitely swoon-worthy). It was about friendship and love, stepping out of your comfort zone from time to time and taking risks in life instead of always taking the safe path. About making decisions based on what makes you happy and living your life for yourself, not those around you.
I used to tip my head skywards and wish for more, for better, for different. Sometimes it all seems so impossibly far, too impossibly hard. But that glimmer in the distance, that sparkle in the sky, is within our grasp if we trust our own lights to help us steer our course and remember never to fear the darkness. Because it's in the darkness that we can find ourselves shining most brightly.

A powerful and inspiring feel-good book, funny, sweet and charming, and blessedly low on angst.
Absolutely safety-gang appropriate and recommended to anyone who's looking for an emotional yet light-hearted comfort read.

A few months ago I had the pleasure of reading Coleman’s debut, Don’t Stop Me Now and absolutely loved it’s overall message of hope and empowerment. This time around I once again loved the themes of resilience, positivity and getting back up after getting knocked down, Coleman has a real knack for writing engaging, uplifting stories with the loveliest characters.

I just adored Evelyn right from the start, she was the type of character that you want to befriend. Coleman creates the most gorgeously relatable characters, Evelyn had me laughing and smiling so many times, she was just so sweet and I really wanted her to find her niche in the world. Her transformation from the beginning to the end of the book was amazing, she really found her groove and had such a fantastic attitude. Danny is her maybe love interest and he was adorable and their interactions were heartwarming and swoon worthy.

Often times chick lit can be slightly predictable, which is fine but this wasn’t at all which was SO refreshing. Evelyn has many curveballs thrown her way (again and again) so figuring out what would happen next was impossible. This book is perfect to pick up on a day when you’re down in the dumps, it will most assuredly put a smile on your face and make you want to go out and seize the day, it was a delightful read.

Such an apt title, as the book is all about Reaching For the Stars, and trying to achieve your potential, oh and the S Club 7 song by the same name does make one appearance too!

I really took to Evelyn quite early in her book, even while her marriage was falling apart. It was relatively amicable and then her first steps at striking out on her own, by leaving her small town and moving to the big city of Dublin.

I loved Evelyn's attitude to everything, and was laughing a lot at the scene where she first meets a teaching recruitment consultant! She then makes a rather rash decision and from there the book became even more engaging.

Danny and Evelyn's friendship was great, in fact I just really liked Danny and his busking, and general good naturedness. I also really enjoyed the other men that Evelyn meets in the pub, as well as the history of the pub itself.

Reach For The Stars is a charming, and uplifting story, where Evelyn's life changes for the better as a result of her being reminded to reach for the stars. And this message is also carried forward when she starts taking on a mentor role to a troubled teen, which again is a sub plot that I really enjoyed reading.

This is an entertaining story, written in an easy to follow style, and I really wasn't sure how it was going to end until I got to that point.

Thank you to much to Netgalley and Bookouture for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

This author was recommended to me by the lovely Shell Baker and as she knows my taste I decided to buy it and give it a go and I'm so pleased I did. Evelyn Dooley is the star of this show and we start by seeing her and her husband James attending marriage counselling and it becomes pretty clear pretty quickly that it just isn't working. What follows is Evelyn taking the 'Bull by the horns' and taking a huge chance and relocating to Dublin to live with her sister.

I liked Evelyn and you cannot help but want her to do well as it seems she is literally starting from scratch all over again. So she takes the plunge and tries to get herself a job as a teacher as that is all she has done since she left school. However, she quickly realises that School Teachers aren't needed at that time and she becomes aware that she must get a job...any job!

Luckily for her she stumbles across a guy named Danny and a local pub and that is where the story really begins to take place. I also liked Danny, but I also liked Tara (Evelyn's sister) and Ruby, the young granddaughter of Evelyn's Landlady. The characters were definitely what made this story for me, so much so that I read it in just one day over 2 sittings. Having said that I did have one small gripe and that was that for some reason I felt that some parts of the story had the descriptive element missed out. To give you an example, Evelyn and Danny are talking in Danny's room, but there had been no mention of his house, his room, where he lived prior to that...nada. Now I know that sounds like an odd criticism but there were a few occasions throughout the book where I felt there was a chapter or two missing (if that makes sense). That small critique aside it was a thoroughly enjoyable book and certainly an author I will be reading in the future.

I'm clearly in the minority here, but I found this soooo boring. This description "A laugh-out-loud, feel-good story of friendship, second chances, and romance" feels like the biggest stretch ever. I don't think I even cracked a smile while reading this.

There was zero romantic tension, there was no moment when you ever questioned what the main character's choice was going to be, the relationship was practically an insta love, most of the 'curveballs' in the story were solved within a page of coming up. The book flat lined the whole way through because there was never any build up to anything. Since there was never any build up and nothing ever seemed to happen (even when it was happening) there was zero connection to any of the characters, and there was never a moment when I cared about any of them. Bored to tears.

Ever had a life plan that doesn’t quite go as expected??

Well Evelyn thought she had everything she wanted and that her life was good.. until.

Dublin is the city that changes Evelyn’s life, She meets Danny and this is where I too wanted to pack up and up and go.. The enthusiasm of the pub, the music and the general charm of the characters pulled me in, I loved it.

Of course all doesn’t go well for Evelyn and Reach for the Stars isn’t all just romance and joy. This is a tale with a message, it shows that life changes and with all it’s challenges and upheaval friendship and love makes it all good.

I loved Evelyn, she’s a girl that you can relate to. Danny is amazing, a busker who understands Evelyn and lets her just be herself.

There are moments of happiness, sadness and one for quiet contemplation but all in all this is a book for every woman to read and just escape for a while.

It is truly fabulous.

Thank you to Netgalley and the Publishers, Bookouture, for this advanced review copy which I received in exchange for an honest review.

This is the first book I have read by this author, although she does have another book called Don’t Stop Me Now, which is now definitely high up on my To Be Read list! The story begins with teacher, Evelyn and her husband James. They are having some marriage problems and are attending their first marriage counselling session. Evelyn think that the counsellor will be able to tell James where he’s going wrong and they can go home and live happily ever after. The reality is that both Evelyn and James want different things from life. Evelyn wants a tidy home, a steady job and a family. James doesn’t want any of those! They agree to part their ways as friends on the steps of the marriage counsellor’s office leaving Evelyn to return home to live with her mum.

Being driven mad by her mum (and putting on weight by the hour due to the Irish breakfast served every morning) she decides to move to Dublin to room with her sister Tara in the hope of finding a temporary teaching job. This is easier said than done, and Evelyn drowns her sorrows in a pint of Guinness in the oldest pub in Dublin, Rosie Malone’s. Taking pity on the landlord, Colm, she decides to offer her services as barmaid, come cleaner, come chef, until a teaching job becomes available. It also means that she can while away the hours listening to handsome busker, Danny Foy who plays across the road from the pub. With the prospect of bringing Rosie Malone’s back to its former glory with music nights, Evelyn forms a partnership with Danny, but will they end up being more than friends?

So, where do I start with this one? I have to safely say that this book was absolutely fantastic! I enjoyed it that much that it has leapfrogged itself up to the top of the ‘Book of the Year’ list! This one just has that little something extra that the other books haven’t. I knew when I saw the cover that I was going to love it. It’s just one of those covers that says ‘read me!’ It has humour, it has romance, it has tears and it has music! What a combination – everything I could want in a book, the only other thing it needs is Guinness…..oh wait, it’s got that too!

I’ve never been to Ireland, but the setting described when Evelyn goes to Dublin makes me want to go right now! I don’t think a river could be described as anything more beautiful than the “River Liffey still as glass, sparkling in the midday sunshine”. It just reinforces how magical this Emerald City is. I also love Rosie Malone’s pub and it really sounds like somewhere I could lose an afternoon or three in. The characters are all so wonderful and very likeable. There aren’t any characters in the book which I didn’t like and even James redeems himself eventually. Evelyn and the gorgeous Danny make the perfect couple and Colm and Christy seem a pair who could keep you entertained for hours with old Irish tales.

Now, whilst we all know that a lot of these stories are predictable and you know there is always going to be a happy ending this one seemed different. Just when I thought that was it and it was coming to an end the story changed direction and carried on giving me more. I thought on more than one occasion that the story wasn’t going to end on the happy ending that I expected it would, and whilst there were sad moments that had me reaching for the tissues, they were quickly replaced with more happy times.

You’re probably thinking that I’m going a bit OTT about this book, but for me this was the best feel-good book that I’ve read in a long time (and I’ve had read some great books by some great authors recently!) The writing was perfect, it had something which kept me hanging on Every. Single. Word. (I do have a tendency to skip parts in some books, so this was something for me!) I literally spent the whole day reading this book and could not put it down until I had finished it. I got absolutely nothing done and my pile of chores got even bigger!! The only down side with the book was that it finished! I was so enjoying being wrapped up in that cosy Irish world that when I finished it and had to return to reality, it was a bit of a disappointment! I would love to see a follow up to this book to continue the story (I won’t say what parts for fear of spoilers!)….please!!

I cannot recommend this book enough!! 5 Big Guinness Pint Sized Stars! Thank you Colleen, you have made my year!

Love, Love, Love this book! After reading Don't Stop Me Now and loving it, I couldn't wait to get cracking with Reach For The Stars. I have to say wow what a title. Every time I hear the song it makes me smile because it is very uplifting. Well this is the same effect this story had on me after reading only a couple of pages because you know you're onto a winner when a book makes you laugh out loud from start to end. I was laughing that much my belly hurt.

Told from Evelyn Dooley point of view we are introduced to herself and her husband James who she has been with since high school at a marriage counseling session. Which is not something to laugh about. But OMG Colleen puts an hilarious spin in it making it freaking hilarious. Deciding to go their separate ways she starts her single life with a trip to Dublin. Not being able to find herself a job in teaching she lands herself a job behind the bar in a pub where she meets Danny...

Having done this job myself I could relate to the story and the characters. Loving every single page of this story, I was dying to know what was going to happen next and believe me it isn't just about pulling a pint! Colleen certainly knows her stuff and this is portrayed throughout the story.

Eleryn is head strong and witty and knows what she wants. I loved her and could definitely see myself having a drink or two with her.

This is a very engaging entertaining story that is to true life. Colleen has made this story so real that I felt right in the story.

Reach For The Stars tells a story about life is what you make it and being happy. What I call a proper feel good story.

I devoured this in one sitting and is definitely in my best books for 2017 I cannot recommend it enough. Giving it 5 massive stars.

Massive thank you to Kim Nash at Bookouture for recommending it to me.

I really loved Colleen's debut novel "Don't Stop Me Now" with it's funny, kick-ass, fearless approach to life changes and taking chances, so I had high hopes for more of this with her second novel "Reach For The Stars" and I can gladly report I was not disappointed one bit. This novel is every bit as fun and adorable, with loveable characters who really get under your skin and a feelgood vibe.

Evelyn's escape, against all advice, from her small village to Dublin is fraught with setbacks, however when nothing seems to be going to plan there forms the seeds of a possible future that she realises is what she craves more than anything. Can she navigate the insurmountable challenges and seize happiness?

Set in Ireland, I adored how you got such a sense of the character and variety of the country; from the quiet village where everyone knows your business to the crowded bustle of the capital. There was no shying away from hard issues too, especially homelessness and loss, the way that anyone can be displaced, lost, struggling. It really made me feel grateful for the stability and comfort that I have at home, at a time when I was getting fed up of the endless DIY list; that's the beauty of books like Colleen's, they're relatable and real, with plenty of positive, life-affirming stories.

Crikey, Colleen Coleman has done it again! After thoroughly enjoying her first novel, I was excited to read this one and she certainly did not disappoint! She has a way of writing that draws you in and makes you cheer on the main character and get completely emotionally involved, somehow. This is a rare gift, in my opinion. I read this book in one go :)

Evelyn Dooley is like many of us, she marries young and fully expects that it is for life - only it isn't, and she has to re-think her plans for the future. Naturally this is a terrifying prospect and takes some adjusting to but she is a courageous person and takes a leap of faith into the unknown. I absolutely love this character, her bravery, her can-do attitude, her kindness and caring; all of these things endear me to her so much. If the world was full of Evelyn's, the world would be a much nicer place to live.

This book is so lovely because the characters are so human, they are flawed, and yet they achieve amazing things and you want them to succeed so badly. Consequently, there is a lot of depth to this book and it is so worth exploring.

Highly recommended read from me, 5 stars :)

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture.

Reach for the stars, climb ever mountain higher. Reach for the stars, follow your hearts desires. Reach for the stars, and when that rainbows shining over you. That's when your dreams will all come true.

This song has been in my head the whole time that I read this book. Which is quite apt really as this book is all about reaching for the stars and making your dreams come true.

If you haven't read anything by Colleen before. I firstly pose the question of why not? 😜 Colleen is a fantastic author. Her books always make me laugh loads and leave me feeling good. (I feel another song coming on). If you haven't read any by Colleen yet then I highly recommend that you do, and what better book to start with then her newest novel.

In this book we meet Evelyn. Whose marriage to her childhood sweetheart has broken down. In desperate need of a life revamp Evelyn flees to Dublin. Evelyn had a five year plan all mapped out. But the newest events were never featured and Evelyn is struggling to get her life back on track.

Once in Dublin Evelyn meets busker Danny. The pair strike up an unlikely friendship. Which sees them running music nights at the local pub together. If music is the food of love it must play on, and for Evelyn this couldn't be more true. Through the music nights Evelyn is welcomed into the community and strikes up friendship with the people she meets.

However there is a fly in the ointment. Evelyn's savings dwindle out and she is forced with the decision to return to her home village or make a new life in Dublin with Danny and her new found friends. While Evelyn is shooting for the stars and making her dreams come true. Is there space for a romance to capture her heart?

If you are a romcom or chicklit fan this book is for you. Yes it is a little bit predictable and we all know where the story is going to go. It is still a funny, lightheard read. That will leave you smiling a long time after reading it.

I would like to thank Netgalley, the publishers and Colleen Coleman for the opportunity to read this book for an honest review.

There is something that just melts my heart when I know that a romantic novel has been written and based in Ireland and as I read the pages with those Irish accents swirling round in my mind they just make me go weak at the knees.
Evelyn Dooley and James were sweethearts from high school but now at 28 Evelyn accepts that their future life plans couldn’t be further part.  Why settle for the life someone else wants to lead when the years are ticking away and the promised carrot is getting totally out of focus. There isn’t really a choice as far as she can see, she leaves not just James but everyone she knows to go and find the life she craves for.
This is such a beautiful story of not giving up the important things in life and really not just settling for second best. Everything you have should be worth fighting for. I loved Evelyn’s character she had such a loving and caring nature but the strength to stand up for what she wanted in life too.
Evelyn has to face so many tough choices and at times it would just be easier to give in and take the easy way out. There are many forms of love. The love of a place, the love of friends and the love of your life. The last is probably the hardest and at times the most heart breaking one because everyone has their own dreams too. All of these would test Evelyn.
There are some real heart in your mouth moments and each one felt so very real. Time and time again I just held my breath as she had to make life changing choices. Beautifully written  my eyes could well up and I could chuckle all on the same page. A super feel good read that I could pull my own life experiences up and know just what Evelyn was feeling. A lovely all round super book.
I wish to thank Netgalley and Bookouture for an ARC of this book which I have honestly reviewed.

This review was originally posted on Star Crossed Reviews Thank you to Bookouture for providing me with a copy of this book via Netgalley. This is the first book I have read by Colleen but I loved the cover and description. I am always up for trying new authors as you never know when you will find an absolute gem.

The story follows Evelyn Dooley as she navigates her way through breaking up with her high-school sweetheart husband. I thought that Evelyn was extremely brave to go to a new place where she practically knew no one and start over. I found Evelyn very likeable and easy to associate with.

Not long after she moves to Dublin Evelyn meets Danny. Now there is something about Danny that you just can't help but love him. He's very sweet but he's a but mysterious. There's something that this man isn't telling us. Danny has a bit of a tortured soul which comes across in his music.

This is a happy, lighthearted read with a touch of seriousness. This story will bring you out of the darkest moods and leave you with a smile on your face.

I really enjoyed Colleen's style and I look forward to reading more of her books in the future.

For now I will leave you with my favourite quote from the book.

Evelyn Dooley is a twenty eight year old who's split up from Jamie her ex husband after some awful counselling, upped and moved to Tara's, her sister who lives in Dublin and has fate to thank when she soon meets Danny, a musician who busks by the cafe next door to the pub where she works with kind Colm and Christy as they need any help they can get and Evelyn had no luck with her creepy recruitment agency man finding her work.

Along the way there, she meets homeless Martin, Moira the landlady with a granddaughter who needs tutoring not just for school but in life too it turns out.

But when she finally returns home and Jamie shows up, will she trust her new feelings towards Danny and her knowledge of life with Jamie to make the right choice for herself?

This book really was great! I enjoyed the storyline as it went on, loved Danny and Evelyn's characters and the challenges they faced together and alone. I would have liked more involvement in the culture of the pub and evenings there where maybe Danny and Evelyn spend time when not working but there's plenty of time ahead for them characters...

Many thanks to the publishers for allowing me to review this book for them!

Reach for the stars by Colleen Coleman a supreme four star read. I will be honest this is my first book by this author as I picked it up thinking it was someone else but I am so glad I did, it really was laugh out loud funny. This is an honest to goodness charming and uplifting read, if you need a pick me up then this is the read you need. There are lovable characters who will leave you with a feel good feeling.
Evelyn Dooley was someone I want to take to the pub and talk life with. This story is full of emotional ups and downs and you can’t help but get sucked in and spat out the other side.
Colleen Coleman writes in a very saturated genre but I think she has a talent that will see her rising to the top of the pile very soon. This was a great story and I can’t wait to read more of what she is writing.

This is a real feel-good romance about Evelyn Dooley, who seeks a new life following a divorce from her high-school sweetheart, James. Her five-year plan has changed, and 'Reach for the Stars' shows how Evelyn's life course has changed somewhat, but change isn't necessarily a bad thing!

I really enjoyed this book; it had plenty of romance and feel-good factors whilst still being believable enough that you could kind of relate to the characters. All of the characters were likeable, and I felt invested in their outcomes. I love a happy ending and this certainly offers exactly that. It's also claimed to be a 'laugh out loud' book which I would seriously dispute (I didn't find any humour in it at all) but apart from that I would highly recommend.

(Thanks to NetGalley for this copy).

Having read, devoured, and loved Colleen Coleman's debut novel, 'Don't Stop Me Now', I really had no idea how the author was going to top that book going forward. But folks, she did and by golly did she do it well!!!

The thing I love about Colleen Coleman's novels, is how she takes real life, relatable situations and turns them into storylines that will either make you nodding in agreement, or reaching for a second box of Kleenex. Some of you might be thinking 'why would I cry at a situation I have already endured once or twice before?' and, whilst that is a pretty valid question, my comeback to that would be 'well, why wouldn't you?'. Sometimes we find ourselves stuck in situations we can't seem to find our way out from, and then Colleen Coleman comes along with characters just like us, who go through situations just like us, allowing us to see a different way of coming out of that dark situation unscathed.

Evelyn's life hasn't exactly gone to plan and, instead of staying to shut down the gossips, she flees the nest to try to make a clean break. What Evelyn didn't account for however, was meeting a musician who was more likely to tinkle her ivories (or ovaries) by allowing her to see her life as sweet, sweet music instead of what it was; a failed marriage.

Have you ever watched or read 'Ps. I Love You' by Cecelia Ahern? If you have, part of this storyline might remind you of the musician character from the movie. Well, unless it's just me, obviously! As soon as 'Danny' was introduced into the storyline, I couldn't help but think of the musician in the film played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan. If you have read this book, please put me out of my misery and say you thought the same!

Anyway, back to this book (sorry!).

I couldn't help but let the tears fall out of my eyes whilst I was reading 'Reach for the Stars'. There was something incredibly magical about each individual character within the book, the ever so heart-warming storyline which made me think about my own life, and a question which made me open my eyes; stay safe or reach for the stars? I just love how the author manages to incorporate such meaningful and eye-opening messages into each of her storylines, making me think outside the box instead of going down the same old route.

'Reach for the Stars' is everything I hoped for, and more. I was quite unsure as to how Colleen Coleman was going to beat her previous novel as it gave me all the feels, but she did. Coleman has managed to raise the bar even higher with this heart-warming and extremely touching novel which will make you look at life in a completely different way. I really have no idea how the author does it, but she manages to make me laugh and cry, whilst also making me feel as though I can conquer the world in my sleep, all at the same time. Not only does it require a talented author to be able to do that, it also requires an author with a heart of gold. Colleen Coleman ticks both boxes and more.

'Reach for the Stars' is an absolutely phenomenal read. From start to finish I was glued to Evelyn's story and the chances she could take. I wanted her to be brave and reach for the stars. I wanted her to live her life for herself, and not for anybody else. Watching the character get to that point, however, made me crumble in the most beautiful way.

This book is everything I could have wished for in a storyline and, if I had to choose a book to live my life by; I would certainly have 'Reach for the Stars' as my life bible.

Touching, emotional, relatable, and absolutely beautiful, Colleen Coleman has done it yet again with this outstanding novel. Beautifully written and full of girl power, 'Reach for the Stars' is the book which everyone needs to read....now.

I truly cannot wait to see what the author comes up with next. If it's anything like her previous novel and this novel, I am going to have to stock up on the Kleenex! Easiest five stars ever!

Thanks Bookouture.

It's getting to that time of year when, if I wake up early at the weekend, it's a bit too dark to read my print book. So the other weekend, I picked up my Kindle and thought I'd read a few chapters of this book until it got lighter. Suffice to say, a few hours later I was still happily reading. It is indeed, as it says on the cover, a really feel-good book. And you will be singing the S Club 7 song in your head - you can't help it and let's face it it's a bit of a feel-good song too!

Evelyn's life had been going to plan: childhood sweetheart husband, great house even if needed a fair bit work, steady job as a teacher in her local school. But sometimes life doesn't stick with the plan and Evelyn finds herself separated and wondering what to do with herself. Her sister Tara invites her to move to Dublin and stay with her for a bit. So Evelyn leaves behind her job, her soon to be ex-husband, her failed marriage and her home to see what Dublin has to offer. Unable to find work as a teacher, through a chance encounter she gets some work in a run-down traditional Irish pub. With the help of Danny, a local busker, she has grand ideas to revamp the pub. Should she reach for the stars, as her late father always advised, and take the risk or head back to her old life back home in Ballybeg?

From the very start I was mentally cheering Evelyn on and also young Ruby, the troubled teen she tries to help. Evelyn was determined to make a success of her life in Dublin and though things didn't work out exactly as she'd hoped, that determination saw her taking chances even though the opportunities she had were very different from what she had thought her life might be. And then there was the very lovely busker Danny of course, gorgeous and talented but with troubles of his own. These two could be just what the other needed but would either be willing to take that kind of chance? The new opportunities open to Evelyn weren't without their challenges though making this a convincing story. There were plenty of likeable characters providing laughter and some tears throughout the book including Colm, Christy and Ruby and a small but significant part is played by homeless man Martin.

The author had a really enjoyable style of writing which meant I flew through the pages, eager to see what opportunities would open up for Evelyn and whether taking chances would pay off for her or not. I've heard that a new phrase has been coined recently for uplifting novels - 'up-lit' - and I would say this books certainly fits in that category. It was such great fun to read and reminds us that even if life doesn't follow the path we hope, there are often second chances and unexpected opportunities if we reach for the stars. Definitely a book to reach for when you want a satisfying feel-good story.

Vom Stil her erinnerte mich das Buch an Mhairi McFarlane.

Im Original heißt das Buch "I'm still standing", was viel besser passt.

*Book provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review*

Evelyn Dooley is 28 years old, single and her marriage with high-school sweetheart James is in the past. That was definitely not the plan and she leaves her hometown for Dublin.

She makes new friends, builds a life she’s enjoying and meets gorgeous musician Danny. I really enjoyed their scenes and following them around was so much fun. However, her savings run out and she has to make a life changing choice: a new adventure with Danny or the safe life back home.

Of course there are stones and obstacles in the way, which don’t make it any easier and for the reader of of course it’s more exciting and entertaining.
I heard some people say the title is misleading, which I don’t agree with. Reaching for the stars can mean being courageous and brave to start a new adventure and I really think it fits the story.

I think the book has a great message and it’s cleverly integrated in the story. The romantic parts are also a highlight and in general I think it’s such an uplifting, fresh, charming and bubbly story.

When Evelyn and her husband James realise that they want very different things from life they decide to go their separate ways. Evelyn decides to make a complete new start and heads to Dublin in the hope of finding a teaching job, plans are made to broken though and she finds herself working in a bar where she soon befriends a busker Danny.

When circumstances change again though she and Danny decide to take on the pub and restore it to it's former glory..... it can't be that hard can it?

A lovely heartwarming book with great characters.... but then I am always a sucker for the Irish books!

The characters in the book are lovely and will genuinely leave you with a warm and cosy feeling inside - I loved it - 5 stars from me

More like 2.5 stars. Pretty cheesy, but I did like the second half way more even with the predictable and cliche ending.

Reach for the Stars is a lovely little read following the story of Evelyn but after marrying her high school sweetheart, now the music teacher finds herself single at 28 and living in Dublin. This wasn't what she planned and her five year plan now seems like a distant memory.

However a chance meeting with a musician forged an unlikely friendship and soon they're running music nights together. She's building a life she loves but when her savings run out will she stay or return home?

This is a pleasant enough read, it didn't have me gripped with the plot line but it was nice to see how both the characters and plot developed.

I would give this book 3 stars. Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and the author for the chance to review.

First of all, thank you Bookouture and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest book review.

Let me start off by saying that I love Colleen Coleman! In all seriousness her book "Don't Stop Me Now" provided me with a whole new outlook on life's problems and how to get by them. Not only that but it was just so damn motivational! I felt like I needed to change the world and my life after reading the book. So as soon as I found out that she was releasing a new book I jumped up with excitement! I knew it was going to be as good as "Don't Stop Me Now" and it was! I love relatable books and this one definitely one of them that shall forever remain on my favourites list.

Just like the book before this one, the cover caught my attention. Seriously, whoever designs these covers is amazing and I would like to personally thank them for creating such simply and outstanding book covers. Again, the colours and the name stood out and get your attention! I knew that as soon as I requested it, it would change my life once again! ahahaha, book covers are my downfall.

This book starts out with Evelyn and her husband James. However, after 7 years of marriage and now divorced she needs a breath of fresh air. I can relate to Evelyn here with her 5-year plan. Even though I'm 18, I like to believe that I plan ahead and have my life sorted out. I like the comfort of my home and I don't really like travelling to places outside my comfort zone! I have my uni life planned out, a possible job after I finish that and even my weekly tasks planned out before the day even arrives. When my schedule messes up I feel lost and I automatically need to get it back on schedule. Basically, I like being deadly organised with my time and I can relate to Evelyn in a sense. So, when she decides to ignore everyone's advice and jump on a train to Dublin, I felt inspired to change my habits just like she did. Even though she heads over to start afresh, she quickly runs to apply for a teaching job for some security in this big new city! However, little does she know that will end up tending a rundown pub!

This got me because she took a leap of faith and reached for the stars and now she is happier than she has ever been. She meets new people and has new dreams! Moving on from a tragic past can be hard but if you reach for the stars anything can happen!

Now, lets move onto the characters! AHHH!

- Evelyn is full of hopes and dreams, even with a 5-year plan. She is a hardworking country girl ;} and will stop at nothing until she achieves her full potential and dream. So when she finds a new purpose she works hard on making it work for her happiness. At the start of the book I knew she was going to be an amazing female lead. Just like Poppy from "Don't Stop Me Now" she followed her dreams and even when tragedy struck she found a way around it and became the amazing person she aspired to be.

Even though the world was throwing obstacles at her she found a way to get past it all. One of the reasons why I love her was because her attitude was wonderful. Yes, she did doubt herself and the situations around her but she sees the light and reached for the stars!

- Danny was such an amazing friend, I loved it. I also loved his busking. ahaha everything about him is amazing and adorable. He does develop into something more with Evelyn later on into the book but it was his good nature that made the book x10 better. He understands her dream and wants to be part of them and help her along.

- James was someone we didn't see much off but when we did he just came off as a lazy git who didn't do anything but expected everything. He was Evelyn's high school sweetheart and might have been seen as a control freak. I didn't like him at the start and everything he said or did just made me want to shake him and say "what the heck is wrong with you? Can't you see what you have?" but then again, he redeemed himself towards the end. We understand him a bit more later on and we might feel a little sorry for him but not much! ahaha!

I really really enjoyed reading Evelyn's story and her adventures in Dublin. I enjoyed watching her grow as a person and Coleman's interpretation of trying to find one's true self. A lot of people don't like "rom-com" and I am one of them! but the romance in this novel was charming, bubbly and wonderful. I loved the relationship between all the characters and how they all had an impact on each other lives. However, I would've liked to see more development with Evelyn's and Danny's relationship. On the other hand, I want more of Evelyn and her journey so ahahaha! Can't have everything now, can we?

So overall, I really loved the story and meaning aspect of this book and I look forward to reading more of Coleman's work. I shall forever remain a fan of her work.

*** Just like "Don't Stop Me Now" Colleen Coleman will be donating a portion of her sales of this book to homeless charities and this is AMAZING! I really want to meet her and let her know that she is slowly changing the world and aspiring people through her books. It takes one person to start to change the world.

Thank you for reading this little ramble about this amazing book! Until next time. <3
