Less Is More #3

Rate this book
Samuel Erickson is having a nice night out with friends at his favorite pub in the city like he does most weekends. He’s past the idea of finding love again, and he is completely happy with the way his life is going. This night is different, however, because there is a new bartender at the pub named Oliver Hamilton who can’t keep his eyes off of Sam.

Oliver moved to the city to get away from a past that he doesn’t want to deal with, and he has sworn off the idea of dating again. His first night at his new job, he spots a cute-young Sam Erickson who he knows will, probably, only cause him pain in the end. Oliver has no idea, however, that he and Sam have a lot more in common than he knows and that Sam may just be what he needs to overcome the idea that love is just a fairytale.

For most of this book it was a 4 star read for me. I loved the writing even with all the grammatical errors. The story was great, but Sam turned out to be someone I wouldn’t want to even know. The way he acted at his grandmother’s funeral was not ok with me. If he had a problem with his parents he needed to talk to them about it. He never even ask them about it or gave them a chance to explain their side. In my opinion, funerals are for the living not the dead. Your friends come to support the family of the deceased not the person who died. This bothered me so much I almost gave the book 2 stars.

Interesting story, but the writing is absolutely dreadful. (There are only so many time a write can mix up between your and you're. smh)

As someone who has been cheated on before, this book hit me personally. Love is never easy to find after you've had your heartbroken. I'm still not over my last heartbreak, but I hope to be over it soon.

Sam is introduced to us from the beginning of the series, and i'm glad we finally get to really meet him properly! It's been a few years since Sam's last relationship, and he has basically given up on love and men in general. Until he meets Oliver, that is.

Oliver is the star of the book I think. He's sexy, and he's freaking hilarious at times. He's so laid back and great and I just want an Oliver of my own to be honest.

The 'steamy fun' in this book is fantastic at parts, too, which is what a lot of people read these books for i'm sure. Specifically when they all go to New York is particularly my favorite.

The only thing I didn't love about this book in the series was the lack of angst or any problem really. They struggle through the book with coming to terms about their true feelings and wondering if they should be more, but there's only one point in the book where it makes you think that things aren't going to work out. Either way, I love the HEA that the book gives us anyway, so i'm still giving it 5 stars.

I love this series and can't wait for another book in the series. I still love Fearless (book 2) the most, but this book stole my heart because of Olli!

Probably 3.5 stars mainly for the storyline.

At the time of reviewing, this was free on Amazon.

The same comments I made about Breathless, the first in the series, apply here. This is a really good, heart-warming story, seriously marred by typos, and, by grammatical and syntactic errors, as well as misused words. It needs work by a painstaking editor/reader to eradicate the annoying mistakes which will irk readers and lead them to dismiss the book.

Sam and Olli are endearing main characters, both deeply scarred by cheating ex-partners who have made them wary of love and commitment. They embark on a friends+ relationship.

There is very little angst here, apart from that which emerges from Sam's poisoned relationship with his parents.

My major dislikes, engagement/marriage/kids crop up in relation to the other couples Elliot and Will and Ethan and Cody. Why do they want to be like heterosexual couples? Dare to be DIFFERENT!

The story is pretty good and held my interest. How can you go wrong with two young men who are both recovering from bad relationships and are looking for friendship rather than love?

The biggest problem with this book and the reason for the mediocre rating is that the typos and grammatical errors were so bad as to make the book difficult to read. Not only was it distracting but it definitely gave me the impression that the book was hurried.
