‘Ombam Kumbatu’ is a short Malayalam satire novel which depicts the lives of men in an ordinary village in Northern Kerala. The story begins with the establishment of village cultural centre called ‘Navayugam Kalavedi’, around half a century ago by a group of local people and it develops through their various activities. The thoughts, believes and actions of innocent villagers, the way they deal with the circumstances fall upon them time to time. Glimpses of lives of later generations around the Kalavedi- all these forms the body of the novel.
Ombam Kumbatu has a simple straight forward narration, without jargons and complex literal gimmicks. Characters appear in this novel are innocent villagers who bear the inner purity and flawless attitude of yesteryear generations. The writer of Ombam Kumbatu, Mr. Vinod Ramanandan is an advertising and communications professional, who has been into the profession of writing for more than 17 years in its various formats including Newspaper reporting, Script Writing, Content and advertising copywriting. Ombam Kumbatu is his first venture in fiction writing.
