Four Cranky Stars

Doctor Leslie Phillips just married off her best friend, who never wanted to get married. Now she’s alone and facing a life of being single, which was never in her plans.

Someone from Leslie’s past turns up dead and her life is turned upside down when she is named in the Will. She’s left something that doesn’t belong to her, and it’s nowhere to be found.
A notorious New York City crime family claims it belongs to them and they want it back at all costs, including corruption, sabotage and murder.
Special Agent Jason “Mo” Morrison is assigned the task of protecting her from the repercussions of the situation she has been put in - but can he protect his heart? Things aren’t always what they seem, especially when lines are crossed and trusts are broken.

Will Leslie and Jason survive the firestorm with their lives and hearts in tact? Or will the crime family win and change everything?

In Reprisal (book one) we left Sydney and Gabe overcoming a tragic situation only to find a love to last a lifetime. Only one problem with that... Syd's best friend Leslie feels cheated from obtaining her happily ever after.

1. Leslie is very expressive about how low she feels at Gabe and Syd's wedding. How did you feel about her actions at the wedding and reception?

Cranky 1 - I thought she was over reacting and it just did not seem like her character from what we were able to know of her from the first book. She tried to not let others know what she was feeling by sitting alone and drinking and this was not what she needed to be doing. She needed to be celebrating with her family and friends so I was upset with her behavior.

Cranky 2- I felt that she was acting out of character. In book one she is strong and quite frankly a ball buster. In this scene she can't even find it in herself to be happy and celebrate her friends. It kind of pissed me off.

2- Jason "Mo" Morrison is a complex individual. In book one he's aloof and guarded, in book two his true persona comes out. What did you think about the chemistry between him and Leslie?

Cranky 1- Mo and Leslie's chemistry was hot, once he was able to break down some of the walls she had built from her past hurts. She needed Mo to be the domineering male that he is for her to have overcome being hurt in the past.

Cranky 2- I agree. Leslie erected so many walls that I think she lost sight of what she truly wanted. Mo was just the man to shatter her walls. Their chemistry had me fanning myself.

3-There was so much going on in this book. Almost non stop action. What were your thoughts about the book?

Cranky 1- The action was non-stop and it did keep you on the edge of your seat throughout a majority of the book. There were times that a break in the action would have helped the reader digest what was all happening as there were times when we went from one action scene to the next and it did become difficult to keep up.

Cranky 2- I felt at some points there was so much going on that it was hard to keep up. At one point they were at Syd's apartment then the next thing you know bullets are blazing and a high speed chase occurs. Almost too distracting.

If you like fast-paced action, dominant men, complicated heroines, you'll like this book and the series.

Both Cranksters agree that this book deserves 4 stars.

This book can be read as a standalone, but in my opinion, it is better to read Reprisal first. When Lesley is names in a will by someone from her past, she is put in danger as a crime family want it back. Sexy Jason is tasked with protecting Lesley, despite her stubbornness regarding any advice. This storyline takes the reader on a rollercoaster journey, and leaves you guessing throughout.
This story is action packed, with suspense, loss, and most of all love. Christa just keeps getting better and better with her stories.

Oh my! This was a great read! I had read Reprisal, and this one was even better! Although they are stand alone books, I would read this after the first book. I had read them backwards, and I think the reader can get more out of them by reading the other first. I did go back and reread them in order and it made it even better. This book was so suspenseful, I could not put it down! This is definitely an author to watch and I am looking forward to more.
Dr. Leslie Phillips is in a bit of a bad place. Her plans are getting messed up between her and her best friend, Sydney. Leslie was supposed to get married after dating her boyfriend for years, but when she suspected him of cheating, she threw him out. Now she watched her friend Sydney marry Gabe, and she was the single one. Sydney hadn't wanted to marry and then she found Gabe. Leslie likes Gabe's best friend, but she thinks she shouldn't. Then her ex is found murdered, and her whole life gets turned upside down. When two different mob families become aware of what her ex had done, Leslie is in for the fight for her life.
Jason Morrison, or Mo, is paired with Leslie for the wedding, he is already interested. When he becomes involved with the case involving Leslie, he has to do everything he can to protect her. In his 37 years, he hadn't met the love of his life, this case changes everything. But that doesn't mean things will be easy, especially when he isn't sure who he can trust. One wrong move could cost Leslie her life. And he cannot have that happen, not with how he feels about her.
I could not have guessed who the bad guys were in this book. I was in it until the last page. This is a great read and should not be missed.

This book was a bit of a bit of a mixed bag for me.

Firstly I felt there was a great start. Lots of anticipation and sexual tension, but somewhere along the way I lost the connection between Leslie and Jason.

I did however, realise there was a book prior to this one, that featured Leslie and Jason's best friends, Sydney and Gabe. Now whilst I had no major problem reading this as a stand alone, at times, I felt that there were references made to events that I presume occurred in the previous book and maybe this affected certain parts of this book.

As I've already mentioned, this book focuses on Leslie and Jason. I most definitely got a sense that Jason was incredibly hot and I definitely felt his need to protect Leslie.

For me, I didn't warm to Leslie quite as much. I felt she was your typical stubborn female, who doesn't know when to take the advice she is given when her life is in danger. She also had a tendency to talk to herself a lot. I'm pretty sure most of us talk out loud on occasion but Leslie did this pretty much constantly, therefore I found it hard to take her as seriously as I perhaps should have.

Now despite my issues with this book, I did find that at the heart of it, was an incredibly good, gripping thriller and just when I thought I had everything worked out, there would be a surprise that turned everything on its head.

So whilst as an erotic romance, I have to say I felt there were areas that could have been improved the thriller elements of the book were very enjoyable indeed.

Dr. Leslie Phillips thought she was going to have the husband, career, white picket fence and 2.5 kids until she discovered her boyfriend of many years was cheating on her. She kicks him out and now struggles to control her jealousy over the fact that her best friend is getting what she lost when her best friend never wanted those things. Then we have FBI agent Jason “Mo” Morrison, best friend and partner to Leslie’s best friend’s husband. They have known each other for several months now but Leslie won’t let her guard down after being her by her ex. After the ex is found murdered and Mo is assigned to protect her she have no choice but to trust again, or can she.
Again great concept for a storyline and it was more captivating than the first book but still didn’t have the full flow of things and it was a little frustrating in Mo telling Leslie on several different occasions that the less she knows the safer she will be and to listen to him. There was more suspense along with corruption and sabotage in this book that did leave you wondering what will happen next. The chemistry between Leslie and Mo was hot. A little more clarity on events with a consistent timeline and this could easily be a 5 star read.

I have to say that I absolutely loved this story. This was a continuation of Reprisal. You still get that a little story of Sydney and Gabriel Torres which I needed to find out what happened to them. Leslie and Sydney are best friends, Leslie was the one that was supposed to get married first. Sydney meets Gabriel in the first book and fall in love, get married that was the life that Leslie wanted.

In walks Jason, aka (Mo) Morrison, an agent with the FBI. Leslie and Mo have an instant attraction to each other. Leslie does not want to act on it though, she is afraid to open that door.

Leslie has a connection to a mob family, to which she has not clue of. Mo is left to protect her, but will he be able to protect her?

Things I really enjoyed in the story is Leslie’s personality, she cracked me up with her thoughts and bluntness. You really grow to like Mo, he is such a sweetheart and gentleman. The trials and tribulation in this story will have you captivated in the first chapter.

Great read!

I really enjoyed this book. It had it all..the perfect amount of HOTNESS and suspense. I have not read Reprisal yet and had I known that they had connecting characters, I would have read it first. This one can be read as a standalone, you won't be lost, but like I said there are connecting characters. I absolutely love Dr. Leslie. She is such a strong and stubborn woman. And Jason aka Mo, is a bossy, overprotective, sexy as sin, alpha male. I was drawn in from the very beginning. The flow of the story was perfect in my eyes as were how the characters were written. Now that I have read this one, I am going to read Reprisal now so I will have a much better appreciation for these amazing characters. I am looking forward to reading many more books from this author. My one and only complaint is that the first 20% of the book was a little slower than the rest. That will not deter me from reading anything else this author publishes. I am a sucker for a really good suspenseful romance. A really high 4.5 AMAZEBALLS stars for me.

It was suspenseful and packed full of action. That is what I really love about this authors books. They keep you on the edge of your seat. There is something going on all the time. There aren't any slow parts that make me want to skip pages!! I find myself doing this while reading other books and it is annoying! The characters are well defined. Leslie is a strong women on the outside but fragile on the inside when it comes to men. I love that Jason just sort of tells her like it is, he is that alpha man that we all look for!! There are plenty of twist in this book and one of them will floor you!! My favorite scenes was so detailed I loved it and it was a tragic part of the book. I know that may sound kinda weird but I was drawn into it! Well written and well thought out. The sex scenes in this are great btw! Wow is all I got for that!!

Requital by Christa Lynn is a story about finding a relationship in the worst possible situation. Doctor Leslie Phillips and FBI Agent Jason Morrison are thrown together after her ex is murdered and leaves her dirty money that mafia families are after. I wanted to enjoy this book, but after finally getting to the meat, or action, of the story I was so over the main characters. They were predictable and boring. Leslie doesn't want to fall in love... but she is... and she has to fight Mo (Jason) at every turn. And he loves her for it. Ya... unfortunately the whole thing felt been there done that. Sadly, I think there are better versions of the same "cop falls for woman he is protecting" stories out there. Requital just didn't hit the mark for me.

This is the 3rd book that I have read by Ms. Christa Lynn and so far it's my favorite by her (although, I have loved the others, too). This book has exactly what I like from a book; the anticipation between a man and a woman. The build between Special Agent Jason Morrison (Mo) and Doctor Leslie Phillips comes in the simplest form yet the journey that they have to take together only adds to their story. Loved the storyline. This book is filled with action, suspense, loss, and above all, the romance. Wonderful job Ms. Christa Lynn! I look forward to reading more of your work.
