The AM13 Outbreak has affected everywhere, the entire world has experienced infection. Victims of the virus are no longer human, they've changed, become something scientifically impossible. With their loss of human function and their new lust for flesh, there’s only one word to describe them... Zombies. The world is divided as everyone tries to work out how to survive. Many have already lost their lives in the fight, but there are still a few who are not dead... Yet!

Okay, it sounded bad last time, it sounds bad even now. Samie Sands is back with the fourth volume of the AM 13 Outbreak series ( see my review here ). And, if my little joke didn’t have too much fun then, now is definitely out of line. Why? Because this volume is truly the crowning of the series as subject, as a theme and literary value. For so much time I‘ve not seen such a gain for a writer as Samie’s and for us as readers. Last time, I’d made some little jokes about the concept of the British zombie books - the first volume of the series seemed to me a little flimsy in the way in which the main character was presented, from her maddening hesitance and lack of initiative. Yes, introspective seems to be the keyword of the series, but this time, everything is under another sign.
Let's finish with what it was and let's deal with the book that is important for us now: Not Dead Yet. You could interpret this book not just like a single novel, but like a collection of short stories. Each chapter presents us new protagonists and new situations. Of course, the main theme will be the zombie apocalypse, but the situations in which they find themselves will be different and everybody will react in a different way. Don’t expect fists and bullets to fly in every direction. This is not Samie’s style. If you look for something like this, you better watch the new series of The Walking Dead. No, she’s in charge of the human soul and the way in which people react in an unexpected and strange situation. Yeah, the struggle with tribulations is the battle that the author imposes on her characters. Sure, will be some physical moments, let’s say, but not these will be the essence of Samie’s stories. Samie’s strength is not one of the fists that smash a jaw, is the one of the heart. If the soul will win this fight you will find for yourselves.
The stories are not by far cute, they are quite serious about their theme. There is a wave of melancholy that pervades, some of the stories could be even depressing, but they are beautiful as a symbolical message. If in my old review I’ve had some small critics, this time I’m very pleased with what I’ve read. And if you let yourselves fooled and say that because the novel is written by a woman it’s a book for girls stuffed with delicate and swanky things, you’ll be sooooo wrong.
Not Dead Yet will distill the whole series, and the final product will be one of great value. This is a novel that definitely will be appreciated even by those that are not too much in zombie books.
Too many words are plenteousness. This is the book that you must read if you are tired of the classical zombie stories.
The zombie outbreak has spread across the whole world. Not Dead Yet tells the stories of some of the people whose lives the outbreak has affected in different parts of the world. Some were on vacation and now wish they had never gone on vacation. They wish they had been at home when the outbreak occurred.
Not Dead Yet reads like an anthology of different stories telling a little bit about someone’s lives during the zombie outbreak. Some stories tell how a person exchanges one monster for another, a zombie monster, or a human monster. Some are told through letters, some are told through a diary, some are told while looking through a camera lens.
Each story is told by a different person and from a different place. Stories came from New York, Germany, Tokyo, Amsterdam, Mumbai, Salem plus a whole lot more. With each story Not Dead Yet just got better and better. Each character added their own unique little pizazz to the outbreak stories.
There was mystery, suspense, action with a little drama added in to make the stories superb. Samie Sands is a master storyteller who knows just the right words to pull you into one of her stories and keep you hanging on for the ride of your life. You feel as if you are right there with the characters as if you are a part of the stories oh but watch out you may not be dead yet but you just might be before the end.
If you are like me and love zombie stories then you are going love Not Dead Yet. If you are a fan or not I highly recommend Not Dead Yet. Before sure to check out all the other stories in the AM13 Outbreak Series. All the stories can be read as a stand-alone but I wouldn’t recommend it not if you are a zombie fan like me. This book is a little different from many because each chapter brings us a new scenario with new characters. In some ways, that's good since we get to see how people around the world cope with what has become a full-scale zombie apocalypse. On the other hand, it means I couldn't make any real connection with any of them.
In another departure from the norm, each protagonist reacts in different ways, some of which really got my attention, like the one who's actually devolving into a zombie after being bitten. One character has a perhaps hopeless belief that she can find her way back to a loved one through hundreds of miles of devastation and zombies; another is a bit of a warrior who's flummoxed when he comes across a pregnant woman.
A lot of the author's attention is on other things going on with the characters besides the virus and I did appreciate that but, when all is said and done, this book left me a little dissatisfied because each chapter ends with no resolution and I really wanted to know what happened to each person. The ending, though, came in proper zombie fashion so, all in all, I enjoyed Not Dead Yet with some reservations.

Not Dead Yet is a departure from the rest of the AM13 series, broken up into mostly independent chapters detailing life around the world in the wake of the virus. There is no central character, each chapter is written in a different voice, with very different tales. Its unlike and zombie book I've read before, and that's not a bad thing. The zombie canon can become a little formulaic when you read enough of it. Not Dead Yet bucks those formulas with something completely different. Each chapter, detailing failures and successes (though far more failures), each of which is captivating. Recommended if you love zombie literature and want something new! 4/5 stars
The outbreak has spread around the world. The virus changes those infected with it into something that should not even exist. Zombies are alive and hunger for the flesh of others. Can those unaffected stay safe? Who will the next victim be? See if they can keep one step in front of the zombies

This is a great read for fans of horror/dystopian, with great characters and zombies, of course. The story is good and kept me interested throughout the book. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
Zombies have gone international with this book 4 in the series. I really enjoy reading the different stories about different characters. This really has been a fascinating and fantastically written series.

Not Dead Yet is the fourth book in the AM13 Outbreak series. To me, it was more along the lines of short snippets of what was happening with the people who had managed to survive the outbreak that happened throughout the first three books. There were a couple of characters from previous books who get mentioned again, and you find out what happened to them. Not everyone is dead yet, as the title suggests, but their world is looking more and more bleak as time goes on. Can the survivors keep holding on? Is a cure on the horizon? Or is humanity forever doomed by the zombie apocalypse? You'll just have to read it and find out.
I was excited to see a fourth book in the series, but I was a little disappointed by it. It felt a little bit rushed, and while it was consistent with the previous three stories, it fell a little flat for me. I did like knowing what was happening all around the world with different survivors, but the story didn't feel fleshed out enough for me (yay, zombie puns!) to thoroughly enjoy it.
I give Not Dead Yet 3.5 stars. If you've read and enjoyed the other books in the series, give this one a go if you are curious to see what happens with the rest of humanity.
