Everything comes down to Caesar's choice... The Genesis remakes the world yet again, only this time, it's using sadistic machines to destroy the planet. When it finishes, humanity will be nothing but blood and ashes. While The Genesis sets the world afire, Manny tortures all that Caesar holds dear, slowly ripping apart both Paige and Leon. With Caesar's revolution and loved ones dying, he must decide what matters most. He can save those he loves or he can save all mankind. What will he choose? In this climactic conclusion to the epic science fiction thriller, everything Caesar fights for balances on a single choice, one that only he can make, one that will transform the future of the human race.

I used to deliver pizza. I was pretty good at it, too. I mean, it's not that hard, but if I'm not going to brag, who is, right? Anyways, so I'm delivering pizza while I'm in college, and my boss has been in the pizza industry like six years. He's supposed to graduate from college this year, and I ask him, what are you going to do after college? We're all supposed to go out and conquer the world right after college, so this guy has to have some kind of plan.

He looked at me like I was delusional.

"I'm a writer, man."

Those four words changed my life more so than anything else ever spoken to me.
I'd always written, since I was twelve participating in online-wrestling forums in which you acted out your character. I wrote because it came naturally. Never once, in the entirety of my nineteen years did I think that writing could be a career though, until a Pizza Sage said those four words to me.

So what did I do? I went home and wrote a short story and immediately understood that I was the greatest writer to ever touch a keyboard. I brought it to the Pizza Sage and he told me what anyone could have told me--it was horrible. I might be dumb, probably am, but I'm also tenacious.

I spent the next seven years writing almost every day. My first novel grew to the length of 40,000 words, then I threw it away. My second novel grew to 140,000 words. I didn't throw it away, but it was rejected about 50 times by agents. My next novel ended up at around 55,000 words, which I showed to a few friends and shelved. Then I wrote Dead Religion, which is the only reason I have an author page at Amazon.

I have had four short stories published, paid and unpaid. 'Effects May Vary' won an award that was voted on by readers, which was pretty cool.

I'm currently getting my Masters in Business at the University of Georgia's Terry School of Business. I'm doing this in order to not deliver pizzas but still keep the lights on. I have a girlfriend who will soon be my fiancé, and after ten years, I imagine she's ready for that title.

I want to own a yacht.

This series was a wonderfully complex and thought provoking journey. I am not sure yet what the message is or what it all means but I will spend some time trying to sort out what it means to me and if it will change by beliefs on the human condition.

Revolutionary completes the series, although the story continues in the follow-on series, The Singularity Rising. This installment reveals the long-term plan of the Genesis AI with respect to the principle character, Caesar, hinted at in the earlier books. Along the way, the reader is presented with recurring, graphic demonstrations of the depravity of man that Genesis had attempted to eliminate from humans, all aimed at convincing Caesar of the correctness of the course the AI has followed over a millennium and leading him to arrive at an end state Genesis desired.

The author paints a very bleak picture of humankind and our lack of humanity. It is said that nature is red in tooth and claw, but the author paints humans as not just part of that eat or be eaten existence, but fundamentally worse because we all are driven by evolutionary competition to be better than everyone else, to climb to the top of the heap over the broken bodies and shattered lives of everyone who stands in our way.

Like its predecessors, the book ends in a cliffhanger, setting the stage for the follow-on series. Blame it on my optimistic outlook, but I may have to read the follow-on just to see if the author really is that pessimistic about humans or if he yet harbors a glimmer of hope for a future in which the choices are not limited to either unfettered competition and war (human nature) or benign placidity enforced by an actively controlling non-human intelligence.

On a lesser note, this book showed a few signs of having been rushed to completion, especially toward the end, with occasional incorrect verb tenses and words run together. The proofreading and editing could have been a bit better. That said, I still rated the book 4 stars, not because I liked the picture of humans it presents, but because it made me think.

The Singularity, Revolution is a fast paced book that pulls you in. You can relate to various characters, events they go through, pondering their different actions or decisions which leave you either liking, or even disliking them more than you did in previous books in this series. While each new event brings Caesar ever closer to his final confrontation with The Genesis, you can't help but follow along. The events, behaviors, and actions of certain individual characters in the series will affect each reader differently.

Without giving anything away, I will just say the end will leave you thinking about Caesar's choices, not just hours, but days later. Those same feelings will probably be the birth of a few forums or discussion groups where readers can debate certain issues.

Bottom line though is this, I think each reader will take it their own way, no matter how you end things people will either love it or hate it, with a few undecided tossed in the mix. The way I feel about it changes with my mood, the events of the day, and even with each reading. I think I have read each of the books in the series at least twice, the last probably six times. It's definitely a book that will get people talking, arguing, and thinking. That's pretty darn good if you ask me.

NOTE: I received an advanced reader's copy in exchange for an impartial and honest review of this book and I loved it so much, I bought the published copy.

Books in this series are:
The Singularity: Heretic [Book 1]
The Singularity: Traitor [Book 2]
The Singularity: Emissaries [Book 3]
The Singularity: Revolutionary [Book 4]

Wow. I mean, just...wow.

The Singularity : Revolutionary is the closing issue of a four book series detailing the clash between a small group of humans led by Ceaser against the artificial intelligence known as The Genesis. Over the course of four books and eight hundred pages The Singularity series has consisted of two men- Ceasar and the despicable, insane Manny. Two straight lines traveling unbending paths hurtling toward one another and a harrowing collision. Beers gives the collision; then he leaps in an improbable, unforeseen direction and the series becomes extraordinary.

It's not really possible to detail the plot of Revolutionary without revealing spoilers. But I can say that to go back and reread parts of the series with the knowledge that is revealed in the wondrous twist at the end creates a sublime reading experience.

There are thousands of ebooks published every day. It's incredibly hard to get one to break out. If The Singularity series gets in front of enough eyeballs it will be another Wool, another Wayward Pines, another Breakers. It is that good.

Five stars for the series!

I know precisely how I would answer The Genesis, don't you?

The middle of the series was kind of slow going but not intolerable. I don't like reading the ending of one book take up the first few introductory pages of the next but maybe it was necessary. The first books definitely grabbed this reader's attention! I downloaded the other books immediately after reading the first.

New author for me, new kind of sci-fi too. A fast read, virtually no true science to confuse readers (lol). I think people will like the entire set of books. I sure did!

This is definitely a very thought provoking series. One that has already been the source of one philosophical conversation between me and a friend, and one that will stay with me for a very long time. It is a fascinating read but not necessarily an easy one one, in the fact that you cannot help but ponder the questions about humanity that the author raises.

Thought Provoking

What a way to end this series! Without spoiling it for others, I applaud your ingenuity and wonder at the depth of your mind and its' creativity. Your plots, with their twists and unexpected turns, your character development and easy to read style of writing is truly amazing. Well done!

The final part of the story and the shortest one. Death and destruction are everywhere. Caesar's friends and loved ones may not survive, indeed humanity may not survive. Can Caesar find The Genesis and bring an end to the chaos?

The amount of blood, brutality, rape and mass murder was a bit over the top.
