The Academy #3

Disturbing His Peace

Rate this book
She’s got probable cause to make her move . . .

Danika Silva can’t stand Lt. Greer Burns. Her roommate’s older brother may be sexy as hell, but he’s also a cold, unfeeling robot. She just wants to graduate and forget about her scowling superior. But when a dangerous mistake lands Danika on probation—under Greer’s watch—she’s forced to interact with the big, hulking jerk. Call him daily to check in? Done. Ride shotgun in his cruiser every night? Done. Try not to climb into his giant, muscular lap and kiss him? Umm…

Greer doesn’t let anythingor anyone—distract him from the job. Except lately, all he can think about is Danika. He’s wanted the beautiful, cocky recruit since the moment he saw her. But she’s reckless and unpredictable, and Greer is painfully aware of what can happen when an officer doesn’t follow the rules. Probation seemed like a good idea, but now Danika’s scent is in his car and he’s replayed her voicemails twenty times. Christ, he’s a goner.

Danika’s melting Greer’s stone-cold exterior one ride-along at a time. Being together could have serious consequences… but breaking a few rules never hurt anybody, right?

Funny story, I got pulled over by the police while listening to this audiobook and it was RIGHT when the H and h were having filthy sex. Also funny, did you know Kombucha registers on a breath test because it has naturally occurring alcohol from the fermentation? I feel like this was all the set up for what could be a funny/awkward meet-cute in a romance book but alas, the cop was 60 and completely dubious about my kombucha drinking on account of me being nervous and rambling like I was drunk. Thankfully on the re-test I blew 0.00% and could drive away in shame while a couple of the cute cops who were standing around waiting for drivers laughed at me and waved.

This story was great though, I loved the male narration and the sex and filthy talk as always with Tessa Bailey was great. Nothing groundbreaking but if you want a steamy police read then I recommend.

Greer is like a pair of distressed leather boots in a shop window. I can admire them and hate them a little for drawing my eye, but I’m definitely not supposed to try them on.

I've been itching for Greer and Danika's story since the first book in the series. Something about their antagonistic relationship with a deep undercurrent of suppressed lust just got my engine roaring. I couldn't wait to get my grabby little hands on this book and it certainly didn't disappoint.
What if we get caught?”
“Then you’ll hide your pretty face in my neck while I show them my badge. And when they leave, you’ll keep fucking moving. You want to break the rules, baby? Let’s break them...Once I’m inside you, that’s where I’m staying. God himself couldn’t drag me off. Are we clear?”

Ummm...hot cop fantasy, anyone? Because dang!

Greer is Charlie's broody older brother that we first meet in Disorderly Conduct. He's also the lieutenant in charge of the police academy class that Danika is currently trying to finish. To say that their "relationship" gets off to a rocky start is an understatement. Greer's rough and grumpy disposition certainly doesn't win him any fans. The man is downright brutal on his cadets, and his past has made him prickly and closed off to everyone else. But Danika has a way of getting under his skin like no one else. And soon their unwilling attraction begins to brew to a degree of scorching that neither one of them can escape.

Danika is used to being the one with the answers. She's the one coming to everyone's rescue. But she doesn't have an answer for the chemistry between her and the untouchable Greer. Their relationship is not quite forbidden, but it's not one they want exposed either. Danika wants to be a great cop on her own merit. Greer wants nothing to do with relationships and entanglement. Yet somehow the undeniable chemistry between them begins to bring them both some consequences they never saw coming; like feelings.

I loved watching Greer fall harder and harder for Danika. Danika is such a sweet yet strong heroine. This is a woman that can kick some serious ass, but then also has this incredibly endearing hidden soft side. I loved watching Greer bring that out in her. And did I mention the dirty talk? Because holy ovaries, the dirty talk! It was delicious!

Disturbing His Peace was another sexy and entertaining installment in The Academy series, and the perfect book to end it with. It was fun, action packed, and hot enough to set fire to ovaries within a 100 block radius!
I’m fucking yours, you know that?” He drops hot, panting kisses beneath my ear. “I just want to be yours, Danika.”

I loved this! Greer is one hot hero! His reasons for not having a relationship made sense and I loved how smitten he was with Danika! Danika is a strong, smart heroine! Greer didn’t come across as a manwhore at all and they probably had similar sexual pasts. The sexy scenes are very hot🔥 I loved how dominant Greer was and I really loved that Danika is the first woman he has acted that way with!!! A very enjoyable read!

Oh sweet Lord of Grumpy and ‘He-Man’ Thighed Lieutenants!

The final book of the Academy – and one of the most anticipated every since the very first one – is is here and let me tell you, not even after reading the previous books, I would expect the battle that it would be to put these two together. True definition of enemies to lovers combined with forbidden relationship!

Lieutenant Greer Burns doesn’t have weaknesses.

And not for the first time, I’m caught between wanting to lick her, head to toe . . . and telling her the gray academy T-shirt really brings out her eyes.
Idiot. You fucking idiot.

Even if she does hate me.
Why wouldn’t she? My default mode is insufferable asshole.

You know what happens when you put two stubborn control freaks together, that have crackling chemistry and lust going on from the very first sight?! An explosive story that is Disturbing His Peace that what!

Greer and Danika are blindsided by the attraction they feel towards one another from the very first day she set her foot in the Academy, and for long and excruciating months now, they have been denying and pushing aside – or at least trying, lol – the insane lust, and craving, the proximity to other makes them feel. And you can imagine how that went, two fully devoted and controlled professionals, feeling for months and months out of control. It was inhuman to resist all that time, lol…

My mouth is apparently making decisions without consulting my brain. Is the ache in my pants in control? Or even the knocking organ in my chest? Unacceptable.

Since orientation day at the academy, gravity has pulled me toward this man, and now I’m caught.

Every day, since the very first meeting, the fight has been monumental, and each day they feel themselves giving in, little by little, to their attraction, so when they really touch, for the very first time, there was no going back to ignoring the mutual physical want. It was a explosion of feeling at the first contact!

We both freeze at her use of my first name, for the first time ever. God help my cock tonight. I’m going to stroke myself blind to the memory of her saying it.

“Your mouth distracted me,” I slur into her neck, unable to stop the punctuated roll of my hips. “It does that a lot. I see it and I want it working for me. Want it to talk to me, want to kiss it. Use it. I think about that last part when my dick is in my hand.”

Lieutenant Greer, the rule follower, always ‘by the book’ man – instructor to Danika’s recruit – was such a complex and tortured hero. Fully dedicated to his job – which was his whole life until a certain recruit walked into his life – with a baggage the size of a mack truck, and the ever present ghosts of his past, cause for his extreme fear of loss, this man put us and Danika trough the ringer, and I truly hurt for him.

His inner thoughts constant battle, and tormented feelings were a bit part of this story, of their story, causing him to reflect in his actions that struggle between what he wanted and what he thought he should do. His mind and his heart’s war was a huge emotional component of Disturbing His Peace, if not for the enormous extent caused by it, resulting in a bit of push and pull – hot and cold – game, that took too big of a part, and until too late in the storyline, I would have loved their tale even more.

Poor Danika, even after finding out that Lieutenant @ss-Hat, that she felt equal parts attraction and hate for how he treated Jack in the past, craved her just as much as she did him, she had to face a tone of obstacles, but the biggest one was Greer himself. Fortunately, their bodies gave in much faster then their mind did, giving us plenty of Tessa Bailey’s SCORCHING HOT – I’ll never look at a patrol car the same way, that’s for sure, lol – trademark moments, where the hint of forbidden coupled with his filthy talk, just took them to a whole height of heat. Volcanic proportions!

“What if we get caught?”
Without a formal command from my brain, my teeth snap together, and I deliver a rough slap to her bottom. “Then you’ll hide your pretty face in my neck while I show them my badge. And when they leave, you’ll keep fucking moving. You want to break the rules, baby? Let’s break them.” Christ, there’s lightning singing in my veins, her shallow breaths making me even hotter. Hungrier. “Once I’m inside you, that’s where I’m staying. God himself couldn’t drag me off. Are we clear?”

Oh my… This man… WOW. No wonder Danika was so captivated by him, even after all his pushing away and his @sshole attitudes. There were plenty of pluses there too, lol!

Danika was such an extraordinary and strong female character! So totally kickass and independent, she she is not only fully devoted to her career, but her her loved ones. She does literally everything for them, even demands it in all her controlling glory, not asking or allowing anyone to help. But Greer seems to be her counterpart in every way, and sees right trough her, all the way she doesn’t deal with it and carries the world on her shoulders, and he’s the one that offers a way for her to let go, and finally realize, she doesn’t need to control and do everything on her own. Her insistent spirit, and never giving up, applied also to her relationship with Greer, but specially in trying to help him, to reach him, and break his self imposed loneliness.

They truly were the perfect match in every way, the way she incessantly fought for him, for them, and his palpable love and devotion, and their mutual attraction was amazing to see!

I barely recognize the sensation because nothing that came before her compares. Made for me. I’m made just for her. All of the above.

“I’m fucking yours, you know that?” He drops hot, panting kisses beneath my ear. “I just want to be yours, Danika.”
“You are.” I clench my teeth and sail over the edge again. “Greer.”

“You hoped I had a good day, right? I didn’t. Honestly, baby, I haven’t had a good one since the last time I saw you.” She still doesn’t say anything, so I go for broke and let it all hang out. “Danika, you’re . . .”
“What?”
“You’re the best part of my days.”

Greer and Danika had such beautiful, emotional and steamy moments between the them, that I really wish his pushing and pull, and inner battle, haven’t taken so long to be resolved, because I wanted even more couple time, even more moments with them truly together, without conflict. Once Greer gave in it was amazing to see, so the greedy romantic that I am, I wanted much more of that. He was so swoon-worthy, once he shed the jerk and rule-abiding persona, I wanted the chance to take a deeper look into more of that perfect TB hero!

If I want to be with her again, I have to get used to my heart living in my stomach. That’s how it’s going to be, if I want to have a heart at all. Because she owns it. Every beat.

Tessa Bailey really has the gift of writing a simultaneously emotional, rich and steamy hot story, like no other. Disturbing His Peace is the proof of that, from beginning to end, Ms. Bayley transports us and make us live the struggle, pain, joy and victory right along with Greer and Danika. The complexity of the characters, the incredible setting are flawlessly good. And the little glimpses we had into the secondary characters (MY Jack was brilliant!), couples from the previous books, just sweetened the deal. And like the greedy reader I am, I wanted even more, just like I wished the Epilogue – given it was the closure of this fantastic series – had been further on and more extent. So it is bittersweet saying goodbye to such splendid characters and excellent series, that gave me so much joy. I can’t wait to see what Ms. Bailey has reserved for us next! <3 <3 <3 <3

I don’t mind saying Greer had something to do with it, because I know I restored his confidence, too. In the universe. In fate. How to live with knowledge that no one controls either of those things. We have to grab onto happiness when we’re lucky enough to have it offered. We did. And we’ll keep doing it.

I love this girl. I loved her the day I saw her, but that love is so deep now, no one will ever find the bottom of it.

Disturbing His Peace is a standard rom com between cops. The comedy hits the spot. And Miss Bailey is well known for some super hot, sexy dirty talk. I mean, it is very steamy.

The characters met, had crush for each otjer but their pride and misunderstansing keeping them apart. Then somethinf drmaatic happened, they bonded ans the rest you can guess.

What surprising me is, I like the story. I really do. I enjoyed it during a very humid saturday night. The banter brings me smile.

Holy W-O-W, Tessa Bailey outdid herself with Disturbing His Peace; this couple’s relationship is complicated and it has been building for awhile and when they finally give in, it is powerful. The want, the need, the longing going on between these two builds and builds and despite the fact that he is in a supervisory position over her, that she is determined to hate him for his judgmental ways, there is no denying the attraction between them than draws them together or the admiration they feel as they begin to get to know one another. There is no denying Disturbing His Peace is steamy and sexy, but these characters have depth, their problems are real, and with each other they learn to let go, trust, and become an even better version of themselves.

From the first time Lieutenant Greer Burns walked in to the academy to lead a course he noticed Danika Silva and given that she shares an apartment with his younger brother and her best friend he should know her, but he doesn’t. Watching her grow and learn at the academy has been a torture all its own because while Greer doesn’t do relationships, he wants to “do” Danika nine ways to Sunday, but he thinks she despises him given his strained relationship with his brother and the fact she overheard him bad mouthing her best friend, he just doesn’t realize that despite that Danika can’t seem to get him out of her head.

You’ll this book…these characters…OMG, their interactions have been off the charts hot in the first two books in this series and there was nothing between them but perhaps animosity, but I’m pretty sure my fingertips are singed from what they say and do in this book. I adore verbal foreplay and these two do it well and when they get down to the deed, whew hand me a cigarette because I need one, and I have never smoked.

I loved the fact that their interactions were a bit taboo, that they had quite a few start/stops because they both knew they shouldn’t get involved, but they just couldn’t stay away from one another. I loved that the more time they spent together the more their admiration for one another grew and that they began to figure out what made each other tick both personally and professionally. I loved that Greer was there for Danika when she needed help even if she didn’t want to admit it at the time and once it happened she began to realize that it is okay to rely on others and that in being a police officer she was going to need to accept that help. I loved that even when Greer made mistakes he atoned for them and showed Danika he was trying to change. I loved that despite their faults, their fears, and their crazy mixed up lives they managed to find one another and find a way to be happy. I just flat out LOVED their story and this book.

Crazy emotional, supremely sexy, wonderfully written, and impossible to put down, don’t miss Tess Bailey’s Disturbing His Peace!

A grumbly, growly, filthy mouthed hero? Yes, please!

The Gist: Sometimes you just gotta throw out the rules and be bad. Filthy bad. So's the case for by-the-book Lieutenant Greer who's done resisting and ready to have his way with one of his oh-so-tempting police recruits. Yeah. He's thrown those rules way out the door this time.
I really rather loved Greer. I have a soft spot for broken and growly. Just kinda does it for me. He's a stand up guy but a total hard ass. And Danika. She's a sassy fierce chick. She's a giver and just wants the people around her to be happy. They're both a bit of a handful but one I was very much on board with grabbing.

The two together. Lordy be! They are scorching. I love a hero who has a bit of a dirty mouth and lays it all out there and Greer. Oh good and proper Greer has one sexy mouth on him. Gives a girl some shivers! He's totally got the dominant thing going for him and, yeah, yall. Just...yeah. *fans self* It was fun watching them tap into their submissive/dominant tendencies.

I did enjoy the slight taboo of him being a police lieutenant and her being one of his new recruits in training. It wasn't too over the line and worked for me. I liked seeing them on the job and in training. Liked seeing them deal with their families and friends.

There was only one thing I wasn't totally on board with and that was towards the end. Danika screwed up, Greer reacted...and he wound up doing the big gesture with very little apology from Danika. I would have liked seeing her own up more to her part. Just getting tired of this kind of thing in romance where the heroine screws up and the hero is the one apologizing. Ah!

All in all. Sexy and sizzling! Disturbing His Peace was a deliciously dirty good time.

OK, I have to admit I loved this one. The first two books in this series have a rom com kind of feel to them. This one is much more similar to her line of duty series, imo. So, if the first two weren't your thing, you might like this one! Tessa Bailey can write a possessive dirty talker like no other. I can't believe I don't have a hot cop book shelf...I really need to work on that.

"Disturbing His Peace" is the story of Danika and Greer.
Firstly, I would like to bow to Tessa for providing mankind with this hot AF cover *dramatically bows and wipes drools*
And now to the story..
If you've read the previous books, we are already familiar with Lieutenant Greer, Charlie's hard-ass brother and Danika, Jack's best friend and room-mate to both the males. There is crackling chemistry and an insane lust between the two, which has potential to combust- which does happen in this book!
Danika has not been able to ignore her tough leader, and neither can Greer keep his eyes off his spunky pupil. While she likes to take the weight of the world on her shoulders, he has already suffered the loss of one life as well as has a scarred past- something that has made him cynical.
As sparks ingite, Greer tries to keep himself aloof- but soon the lust is too strong to deny and they eventually cave in. But both have hangups, and keep secrets. Can they eventually overcome all their hurdles and be together?
Now,
This had the signature TB dirty talk and smokin hot sex scenes (the one in the car..MEOW!). Everyone was lovable, and its always great to see past h and H's in their HEA.
That being said, I missed angst which is usually there in these books- as well as their hangups seemed to dominate most of the story- especially for Greer. We saw less of the love developing/bang bang scenes, and more of the couple dealing with their pasts and issues. I honestly wish there was more to this book because I was effing excited for this one.
Well, its time to reread Bowen, my ultimate book hubs again.

“If her body heat was enough to sustain me, the soft submission of her mouth could power me through the next life.”

HOT DAMN! This book was so freaking GOOD! But I would expect nothing less from one of my all time FAVORITE romance authors. Tessa Bailey is an absolute PRO at giving us delicious and dirty romance full of so much heart and hilarity! DISTURBING HIS PEACE, book three in The Academy Series gives us the long-awaited happily ever after of two of my favorite characters of the series, Danika and Greer. There is so much freaking HOT sexual tension in this book it will set your soul and your panties on FIRE! Brooding and no bullshit Greer is NO MATCH for the feisty Danika Silva. There were sparks and fireworks with every turn of the page, making this page-turner of a love story, absolutely unputdownable! These two characters captured my heart when the series first started, and after DEVOURING their HEA, it was like falling head over heels for them all over again! Of course, I NEVER wanted this series to end, but if it had to, Danika and Greer’s happily ever after, was the perfect beautiful goodbye to these characters that have stolen my heart.

4 stars. Tessa Bailey really is such a talented author… and this book didn’t disappoint. I really enjoyed books 1&3 of this series. I skipped book 2.

I especially loved the hero of this one… who was understandably confused about his feelings towards the heroine. The hero has a sad backstory that I felt mostly justified his indecision - even though I did feel frustrated with him at times. The heroine was also pretty great, and I absolutely loved them as a couple.

Safety was great; hero stayed celibate after meeting the heroine because of his attraction to her, even though she was off-limits. Heroine not a virgin, hero not a manwhore, no OW drama at all, slight OM drama, no cheating, no scenes with OM/OW.

In the first 2 books, Tessa Bailey teased us with this simmering tension between Greer and Danika, so the final installment of The Academy series is one that I’d been impatiently waiting for. And as I’d expected of Bailey, Greer/Danika’s story is volatile but scorching, with the requisite bouts of self-doubt and angst, as Greer (the hardass) Burns finally meets his match when recruit Danika Silva gets under his skin.

Like all of Bailey’s males, Greer magically turned into alpha-aggressive, dirty-talking man in bed, though this much I’ve already come to expect of him. But while it was fun to read about the prim and buttoned-up Lieutenant lose his cool, I actually preferred and liked the tortured soul that Bailey showed here, as much as I liked the cold exterior that he displayed to the world because his layers went that much deeper.

In contrast, I’d been unable to get a grasp on Danika’s character from the past 2 books, but I’d been hesitant to see Greer/Danika as a pairing when the latter had come across as cocky, impetuous and rebellious without a cause simply because her buttons were pushed by a stone-cold Lieutenant. Yet the Danika here seemed so more likeable and understandable as Bailey un-peels the layers from her: she is the responsible caretaker, the reliable and dependable one who takes people’s burdens because she can, until it becomes both a crutch and a source of pride. In this way, Danika was who Greer needed, though it did, predictably, come to a point when Danika tried to take too much on her shoulders and ended up in danger because of it.

So to this extent, ‘Disturbing his Peace’ doesn’t disappoint.

But Bailey's stories do follow a pattern: the meet/greet, the hot and steamy, the emotional sharing, the conflict (and temporary breakup) and the grovelling/HEA. To say that I dreaded the conflict is an understatement, because it was sniffable a mile away.

The issues I had, apart from the implausibility that a department would grant an instructor/recruit leeway for being together, was that the blame for their conflict late in the story seemed to be laid solely on Greer’s feet as though Danika had nothing to make amends for when she actually needed to own the mistake she made. There were clearly lessons to learn on both sides—and issues to be sorted out—and despite this, I felt that Danika hadn’t put enough of herself out there at the end, despite all the lip-service she’d paid to the sentiment earlier on in the book. I thought she was too quick to write Greer off, too impatient in expecting a lot out of a man who’d closed himself up for years, and too hard-headed to be understanding at the point where Greer had needed her most.

That said though, ‘Disturbing his Peace’ is an easy read, never straying into the heavy angst under Bailey’s excellent handling of her characters’ emotional states. For that reason alone, I keep coming back—though it’s harder in this particular case, to say goodbye to this series that had drawn me in from the start.

*sigh*

This is what happens when you read the "similar" themed books, just following one after another...that's not such a "smart" move on my account cause I accidentally "lowered" the odds of the book that came second in line...meaning that after I have read The Brave Line by Kate Stewart, I've set some high expectations and standards concerning the same subject, and well, Disturbing His Peace by Tessa Bailey just happened to stumble upon this road block, unfortunately.

Almost the very same pattern, the similar storyline and similar issues the main characters deal with, even though with less "heat" and less angst, then in Stewart's book, Disturbing His Peace was a solid contemporary romance, inspite my own subjective insight of pre-conceived notions and experiences regarding the same subject...

In fact, it's only a question of which book you are picking up FIRST!

in my humble opinion, it's unfortunate position for any book that comes second in the reading process while they both deal with similar subjects or storyline, one will always shadow the other.

4 Grumpilicious Stars!!

I’ve been dying for Greer’s book from the moment I opened the first book in this series, Disorderly Conduct. Of course, I will read Tessa’s grocery lists, so I’m a little biased.

Greer is grumpilicious, which I just made up to mean grumpy and grouchy and growly…..and delicious! This is my favorite type of hero. Greer is the lieutenant in charge of training the up-and-coming officers in the police academy. He is straight-edge and doesn’t give an inch when training. But Greer has been hurt and lost too many people in his past. In his mind, everyone leaves, so he doesn’t get attached to anyone. His kind of brokenness is not for Danika.

Danika is the heroine who helps everyone. She is the glue that keeps everything and everyone together. If any family or friend needs her, she will bend over backwards to help. Which is why she is in the police academy because it is in her blood to automatically help people. Her and Greer are automatically drawn to each other. This also means that no one is there to help her, which is why Greer is perfect for me….I mean her. Danika gets in trouble, and Greer puts her on probation….and punishment is needed. I’d like Greer to punish me a little bit. Too much?

I have 2 words for you, Tessa. Elvis. Stamps. Because this part made me swoon 3 ways to Sunday!!

Tessa, you little sneaky dog, you. I see what you did. I’m not going to spoil it for anyone, but the bedroomness is yu…mmy. Danika needs to give up…control…in the bedroom, if you know what I mean. Yep, you know what I’m talkin’ about.

And I can’t do a Tessa review without mentioning The Dirty Talk….because if you don’t know already, Tessa Baily is the Queen of The DT!

Well, what are you waiting for? Take a good, long look at the cover. Don't rush on my account, I'm not going anywhere. He's very handsome, isn't he?

Disturbing His Peace was one of those books I couldn't wait to read. I had it on my to-read list and had the release date marked on my calendar before I even started this blog. There was even a literal happy dance when I got the opportunity to review it.

There were many things I enjoyed about this book. The last 35% was wonderful. Had the book been 150 or so pages long and that was all I got, it would have been 5 stars, no question. I'd be recommending it to everyone. It was adorable, sweet, a bit sexy, and it dealt with important issues like professional burnout, overcoming childhood struggles, and realizing that you deserve to be loved.

The steamy scenes are well worth a read. I made a note about "realistic sexy time dialogue." There's one scene in particular in the back of an unmarked police vehicle... it felt naughty. I mean, the back of a vehicle is just meh, but the back of a police vehicle sounds forbidden which I guess makes it more appealing. Until you think about all the icky things that happen there...it's something that will have to stay on the pages.

Now, there were also many things I didn't like. It makes me sad to say because I really, really wanted to love this book.

First, this book was a bit too insta-love for my liking. It felt like I met the characters and they were already obsessed with each other.

Second, and probably the biggest barrier to my enjoyment of this book is all the repetitive fluff. The first 70% of this book is essentially inner ramblings about how much they like each other. There's only so many ways you can rephrase "I like him."

Something strange happened while I was reading this book. I think everyone occasionally neglects their responsibilities to read more. This book had me itching for breaks. I've got mixed feelings about this.

On one hand, my crown molding is dusted, my flower beds are weeded, and the leaky faucet in the guest bathroom is replaced. It's awesome because I've been putting those things off for ages. On the other hand, I don't often prefer chores over reading. It was a strange experience. I took a full 5 days to read this book and it shouldn't have taken more than 2.

Overall Disturbing His Peace, probably wasn't the best book for me. However, I think I'm the minority here and I'm sure many will enjoy the light, easy read.

A fantastic ending to a great series!!

Lieutenant Greer Burns is a grumpy hard-nosed instructor for the police academy...part time when he’s not working on cases. He’s had a rough life. His mother walked out on him, his dad, and his brother when he was young, his partner was killed in the line of duty, and he sees horrible things daily with the cases he works. That’s why he’s closed himself off from everyone in his life. Including his brother Charlie. His philosophy is “if I don’t have anyone close to me then I don’t have anything or anyone to lose. It will hurt less that way”. He’s been completely fine living like that until Danika Silva-a new police recruit and his brother Charlie’s best friend- walks into the academy ready to work hard. He’s drawn to her from the moment he sees her. For months he’s done everything possible to steer clear of her. He knows it’s a mistake to get involved with her when he has nothing to offer. But when she calls him for help he finds it impossible to stay away any longer.

Danika loves being the responsible one that her family and friends rely on. She loves helping and her can-do attitude has gotten her far. She’s excited to finally become a police officer. She only has a few more weeks until graduation. Then she can move on and move past her infatuation with her best friends older brother. Her instructor. Lieutenant Greer Burns. Those stare downs they have during inspection are what fuels her most days. There’s something about him. When she calls him for help and learns more about what makes him tick she becomes determined to show him that there is a brighter and happier way to go through life. And maybe they can do that together.

Their chemistry is off the charts, and when Greer finally lets loose there’s no stopping them. Watching them navigate through to their HEA was so rewarding and swoon worthy! What I loved is that they both made mistakes. Not just one who had to grovel to the other. They both had areas in their life that needed tweaking in order to become the best version of themselves. This was an awesome finish to the series. I’m sad it’s over, but rereads are definitely in my future!

To begin with I will always give a separate rating on my romances for their level of steaminess...that way if this is something that makes or breaks your potential to read a book, you are not wasting your time.
💖very mild. Either no sex at all or just eluded to.
💖💖 sex scenes are described in this book
💖💖💖little left to the imagination. The author is really painting you a picture
💖💖💖💖 wowzers! this could be the amount of sex, detail, dirty talk, etc.
I gave this book 4 stars and 💖💖💖💖.

Wow…. I went into this book with a little nervousness because I really hated Greer in book one of this series...... I mean he was a real ***! Between his job and his horrible mother, it is no wonder why he wanted to do everything he could to avoid a relationship with this woman….It was so much fun to see him fall, and fall hard for Danika. Lol. I loved seeing his sweet side (as well as his sexy dominant side)...all the work he went through to get the Elvis stamps….lol so cute!

Tessa Bailey is the master of writing banter and sexual tension! I love good verbal sparring! I also love that we read from both Danika and Greer’s prospective.

If you hesitate to read books with hot sex and dirty talk...proceed with caution (ok sorry, but the pun was just to hard to pass up lol) otherwise check out this book…..wait no check out this whole series!! I'm so sad it’s over! I actually read one and then I had to skip 2...because I really wanted to read Greer’s story lol, so I still have one more….YIPPEE!

Honestly... best Tessa Bailey book I’ve read to date. This series was what I expected from TB... Snarky, fun fueled romance with sexual tension and hot talking abounds!!! But Greer... You have won this series! Heck,l he's become one of my top 5 Bailey heroes. It's beginning to get crowded in there and I may need to up them to a top 7.

Sexual tension, inner turmoil and dirty talking make for a combustible Union between Greer and Danika. Forbidden fruit always tastes the best right!!???

What I love is that Tessa writes really strong heroines too. They may have troubles or doubts they've got to deal with but they always come off as able to handle most anything thrown at them an Danika is no less. A strong female who takes care of those she loves. I

This series ends on such a strong note with themes of family, love and friendship all combined. I

You're going to want to pick up this book right away.

Happy Reading ~ Sherry

3,5 Sterne (=gut, solide, unterhaltsam, empfehlenswert)

I had enjoyed the other books and was pretty much waiting for Greer and Danika’s story from the beginning, so I couldn’t wait.

Danika and Greer are interesting MCs who were insanely easy to root for. They’re both stubborn and stoic and the button pushing was hilarious. Oh, and their chemistry is off the charts.

Plot wise, it was sort of what I expected. With Greer being her superior, I thought there would be a lot more push and pull, but it wasn’t too bad. There is some conflict and of course they break up, but it didn’t last long and I thought the grand gesture was perfect for them. I would have liked more at the epilogue, but I’m greedy.

Overall, it was definitely the best of the series and well worth the wait.

5 “grim reaper“ stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

First of all , I wanna say that I am a complete fan of whatever Tessa bailey. I am always ready to grab her books as soon as they come out. Doesn’t matter whether or not I have the blurb, I trust her completely and she has never once disappointed me so far. She has such a beautiful and unique way of writing a story that just pulls you in. There’s a smile on my face the whole time. This book was no different.

Tessa can write one hell of an alpha male. Greer was the same. I was anxiously waiting for his book to come out since he was introduced in the first book as Charlie’s big brother and it was so worth the wait. The broody, silent type heroes are my favourite and Tessa always does them justice. He was the perfect blend of alpha, hot, sweet, dirty-talker, broody man. After reading his story, you could understand why he was the way he was behind his hard exterior. I could understand why he kept from letting people get close to him. You could see the pain and hurt he was feeling. He got burned two times , first when his mother left his family when he was a kid and second when his partner died.

Danika was such a beautiful girl inside and out. She was the perfect partner for Greer. She had her own issues too. I loved that she was always ready to help her family members. She sort of liked that people close to her asked her for help. She loved taking responsibilities which somehow made her too independent and feared people wouldn’t want her unless she helped them in someway. I loved that she saw past Greer’s exterior and helped him overcome his fears.

Together they were a strong couple. I loved their banter in the beginning And also how they complemented each other. There was so much chemistry between the two from the beginning. You could feel it burning the pages. It was hot to see them come together. My favourite scene was in the locker room and also the one where they cuddle. It was so sweet to watch when Greer won her heart.

You guys should definitely read this series. I am sad that it has come to an end. All the characters and their stories were beautiful. If you enjoy dirty talking alpha and sweet & strong heroines with a little bit of angst, then definitely read Tessa bailey’s books. It will be so worth it. ♥️

Should I start with the cliche... " Best in the series... "?

Or how about... " Tessa Bailey has saved the best class for last... ?

Yes, that's it. Disturbing His Peace is giving us the whole teacher/student affair, law enforcement academy style. Lieutenant Burns is going to teach his recruit a lesson or two.. but behind every good instructor, there was a pupil who taught them a thing or two as well. Danika has no problem telling her instructor what he can do with his clipboard.

I love this series. The books have just about a little bit of everything. Sassy, funny, a little angst and in true Bailey signature, HOT!!! I mean a cop who is harboring some intense feelings will work out all those emotions the best way he can... especially under the sheets.

What makes this book a little more special from the previous two stories? You can truly see what a familial knot looks like among friends. I don't mean just between Charlie, Jack and Danika. No. There's a bit more, so you will need to read it to see it for yourself.

Without a doubt, I love this series. I loved ALL the characters. I mean who doesn't who love a romance that ends with hearts, badges and cuffs...

The alpha macho male behaviour felt overbearing and unprofessional, and a lot of abuse of power considering the hero is the heroine's superior and teacher (kind 0f). Just did not work out for me however much I forced myself to finish through.
The masochistic tendency of both the leads got so much on my nerves. They behaved as if it was so blazing hot while I sat there reading and thinking, "What is wrong with these People? Why can't the engage in a healthy interaction that doesn't involve an emotionally twisted version of BDSM?"

I NEED Tessa Bailey to write more NA books!! I can't get enough of them. They've got Tessa's classic dirty steam but also some amazing humor. I've really enjoyed the Academy books – review to come!

Thanks to the publisher for generously providing me an ARC to review.

4,5 🌟
