I an the author/illustrator of the middle grade series starring Mr. Puffball. My first picture book, Everybody Says Meow, has cats AND a dog, a duck, and more (and I drew them!) My other two picture books are Tiny Spoon vs Little Fork (illustrated by Dan and Jason,) and Itty Bitty Betty Blob (illustrated by Micah Player.)
I like bookstores, museums non-scary movies, swimming holes, and taking walks with my old beagle, Louie.
My 9 year old son said that this is his favorite of the Mr. Puffball books. He and his friends love reading this series. I've read them too, and it's really funny.
Sometimes, our dreams come true--and we become less dreamy!
Mr. Puffball is a cat who does not shy away from working hard to achieve his dreams, a cat-astic trait. Less wonderful? Mr. Puffball's change in paw-sonality when he becomes famous and forgets to be the good friend he's always been.
When a reality show on a "stranded" island goes to the dogs (or monkeys), will Mr. Puffball see the error of his ways and win back the friendships he's taken for granted?
Read the explosive finale of the Mr. Puffball trilogy to find out!
Mr. Puffball desires fame and fortune, but he knows his friends are what matter the most. In the third book in this series, Mr. Puffball is starring in a reality show, Celebrity Castaway Island, along with his feline friends, some who seem more like frenemies. As Mr. Puffball tries not to get voted off the island there is lots of adventure, mishaps, and humor. This is a series I'll recommend to readers who enjoy illustrated novels and fun stories that make them laugh. My book review group, #BookExcursion, received a copy of this book to review from the author.
Mr. Puffball is back with another hilarious adventure! Fans of the series will love this newest installment of Mr. Puffball's antics, which this time take him to a desert island. Mr. Puffball's endearing charm and Hollywood ambitions are his compass as he navigates the choppy waters of reality TV. Some of his best friends (and frenemies) are on board for this journey. Chuckles and puns galore- a delightful read for all ages!
The third time for Mr. Puffball is a charm. He continues to have us falling in love with his silly antics and fun word play. Charming illustrations add just the right tone for this fabulous read.
For fans of this fun Mr. Puffball series, comes the third installment. My book group, #BookRelays, was sent a review copy to share. More fun jokes and laughs as Mr. Puffball winds up on a reality TV show. These books are pretty popular among fourth and fifth graders, and I'm sure this one will be as well.
Mr. Puffball: Escape from Castaway Island is full of magic. It’s not just the slyly adorable artwork or the tongue in cheek narrative. The magic is in the details! Kids will read every word, not wanting to miss details like adding a bucket of butter for cake batter or the chattering of dolphins, written as “cute dolphin noises.” As a reformed cat-hater, (yes, Mr. Puffball brought me to the other side), I was sad to see the story end. Maybe cutie pie Pickles will carry on the adventure. I hope so!

This is an adorable book perfect for readers of the Wimpy Kid, Dork Diaries, and Stick Cat & Stick Dog books. The lesson about friends coming first is just subtle enough to not detract from the fun of the story.
Mr. Puffball is a Hollywood stunt cat. He joins and wins both celebrity reality shows Celebrity Birthday Cake Wars and Feline Ninja Warrior, but loses connections with his friends in the process. For the chance to win two million dollars and reunite with his friends, Mr. Puffball signs on for Celebrity Castaway Island. There are inevitable competitions with hut-building, bug-eating and relic-finding, but ultimately the cats organize a mutiny and scare the unscrupulous director off the island with the help of not-so-scary monkeys. Numerous cartoon panels and illustrations heighten the humor and action in this mostly trite story -- other feline celebrities are named Chris Purr-att and Benedict Cumbercat, for example. The cat friends are silly stereotypes, and the adorable kitten named Pickles is, of course, the most appealing. There are moderate laughs to be found here for readers who enjoyed the first two books in the series.
