A funny cozy mystery - with ghosts!
When Laurel’s mother, Thelma, becomes possessed by the ghost of a punk rocker, Laurel is tasked with solving the ghost’s murder. If Laurel succeeds, the ghost will release her mother, which seems a shame, really. She’s a lot nicer possessed.
What will happen when possessed Thelma attends church and mixes with her snooty friends? And what will Ian think? With the murderer still on the loose, Laurel must hurry before she becomes the next ghostly inhabitant of Witch Woods Funeral Home.
If that ever happened, there’s no chance she’d possess Thelma, unsolved murder or not.

Who would know running a funeral home could be such a challenge and oh so funny? Laurel with her mother's "help" runs the Witch Woods Funeral Home. Both Laurel and her boyfriend (Basil) have the unusual advantage of being able to see ghosts, and regularly converse with Ernie the resident ghost. When a rock and roll back-up singer (Jezza-Belle) is killed, Laurel is handling her funeral. One thing leads to another, and her mother (Thelma) becomes possessed by the Jezza-Belle's ghost, and Laurel has to find out who murdered Jezza-Belle in order to get her to cross over.
What follows is hilarious and sometimes sounds like an old comedy routine. All the familiar characters in the series are there-Thelma's bible toting buddy (Ian), her pastor (Pastor Green), and the same surely detectives that have investigated other murders of Laurel's clients.

I enjoy losing myself in the Australian life and countryside, complete with slang and spellings that are clearly different from ours. Ms Best's humor will have you rolling your eyes and guffawing out loud throughout the book. It is a welcome addition to the series as well as an interesting mystery with surprising outreach.

Possession has never been so much fun!

If you want a mystery full of situational laughter, this is perfect! You
don't need to have read others in the series, but you probably will after
reading this one. Laurel operates the Witch Woods Funeral Home in small
town eastern Australia, and she can see and talk to ghosts as does her
boyfriend Basil. Her mother is best known for her criticisms and fanatic
religiosity which she shares with her much younger friend Ian at everyone
they meet. Now enters the ghost of recently murdered Jezza Belle, a punk
rocker who becomes so incensed with the mother that she slips in and takes
her over. You can see the potential here, but not the insane situations
that arise as Laurel and Jezza Belle investigate all the suspects and
follow the leads and red herrings.

I am a follower of Morgana Best cozy mysteries and have read all the books in the Witchwood Funeral Home series. I like the heroine, Laurel Bay. She's quirky, smart, running a funeral home and can communicate with ghosts. No horror in these books except Laurel's overly pious mother. In the latest installment, Laurel's mother becomes possessed by the ghost of a punk rocker who was murdered. With Laurel's help, they set out to solve the murder. This is one if the funniest books I've read in a long time. It's a delightful story.

This series is hilarious. Poor Lillianna returns to her hometown

To carry out the wishes of her father when she discovers her mother trying to get the world to repent and Ernie the ghost in residence at the funeral home. She tends to find herself solving murders of her newest clients, if she can keep her eccentric mom from ruining her business. Delightful series, hope to see more.

In typical Thelma fashion, she is bad mouthing a deceased person at her funeral. The ghost of the deceased takes offence at this, and Thelma will rue the day she never learned to put a filter on her mouth. The ensuing riot of mis-adventures that Thelma undergoes after this is too funny to miss.

As usual, Laurel has to help solve the murder so Jeeza-Belle can move on.

This is by far the best, and funniest story in this series to date.

This is a fun read! The characters are hilarious! I binge read this series and really enjoyed it and hope there are more to come! It is about a woman, Laurel, who inherits her dad funeral home much to her mother's dismay! Her mother expected to inherit it! The unfortunate side, Laurel can see ghosts! The worse part, moving back with her mother! Her mother is super religious and refuses to believe in Laurels' ability! If you are easily offended, read at your own risk!

Ghost Blusters is Book 5 in the Witch Woods Funeral Home Series. I LOVE this series!!!!

I really like how Laurel and Basil's relationship is moving along and how well Basil deals with Laurel's mum. Speaking of the terrible mum, I LOVE the storyline in this book, its over the top hilarious.

Great characters, a well developed mystery and laugh out loud fun.

I cannot wait until the next book is released!!!

Jezza-Belle was a member of a punk rock band and recently murdered. Her ghost shows up at her funeral and so does Thelma, Laurel's overly religious mom. When Jezza-Belle hears what Thelma is saying she's angry enough to possess Thelma. This is a hilarious cozy mystery with Laurel and Jezza-Belle/Thelma trying to figure out who the killer is. I think I laughed more reading this book than any of the previous books in this series. It's definitely a must read!

Delightfully funny

This book made me laugh so much. It was full of off-the-wall humor and quirky characters in a very unusual setting (for humor, that is). Now I have to go and read the first four books in the series!

Ghost Blusters: Funny Cozy Mystery #5

Imagine it: Thelma possessed by a punk rocker! Can't see that? Well, imagine Ian having a breakdown. Or imagine Laurel and Basil 'knowing ' each other against Thelma's will.

Thelma Possessed

For me, Ghost Blusters (or Thelma Possessed) was a breath of fresh air. I really enjoyed the humor in this book. If it wasn't so funny, I'd say, "poor Ian" though. An enjoyable read.

Another fun read

This as with her other series’s is a fun whodunnit, a little suspense without being at all scary and a little romance without the overt sexuality. The plot of this one was surprising and gave just a little extra reason to sympathize with the victim.

By far my favorite book in the series! They can be a bit repetitive if you have started from book 1 but that's ok because of you havent.read the previous books you get a bit of backstory so you don't feel lost or confused if you've just started with this book.
These characters really made me laugh out loud. Never in my wildest mind did I think ghost possession could be so hilarious. Looking forward to seeing what else is in store.

A good solid cozy ghost mystery in the traditions of the first four in the series. Laurel is the owner of a funeral home who can see ghosts. However, the ghosts aren't really a problem for Laurel, her mother is. "Mom" is a born again Christian who believes that everyone needs to hear the word of God. Her daughter doesn't go along with that to the extent that "mom" wants her to. To be honest, mom is a little (ok a LOT) hard to take. The way she treats Laurel guilt-tripping her most of the time and the rest of the time just being nasty to her. Why Laurel takes it I have no idea. I would have sold the funeral home and left lock, stock, and barrel.

This book is no different except that mom did not have much time to be horrible to Laurel as "mom" (aka: Thelma) is possessed by the ghost of a punk rocker. For the most part it's the punk rocker that is "mom" and she and Laurel get along just fine. The punk rocker has been murdered and while at the funeral home "mom" started saying terrible things about the Punk Rocker (aka: Jezza Belle). Jezza Belle got so angry that she flew at Thelma and stayed in the body.

What ensues is interesting to say the least.

The only bad part of this book was that Jezza Belle had to leave "mom's" body after the murder was solved. I was hoping she would stick around in ghost form if nothing else (and who knows she might as the ending did not have "going towards the light" or even saying goodbye to Laurel.)
