Fireblood Dragon #3

Fire in His Embrace

Rate this book
There’s only one way to tame a dragon.

Emma Arroyo knows this. She also knows that the big golden dragon captured by her brother’s biker gang is in trouble, and it’s all her fault. He followed her scent, and now his life is in danger.

She has to fix this, somehow. If she could talk to the dragon, they could form a plan to escape, both of them. But the dragon’s mind is wild and full of uncontrollable, killing rage. There’s no reasoning with him. There’s certainly no freeing him, not when he’s like this. But Emma can’t leave without him.

There’s only one way to solve this problem - a mating. When Emma approaches Zohr to claim him as hers, she realizes just what it means to be a dragon’s mate, and how much she’s in over her head…

And she learns how fiercely possessive a drakoni male can be.

You are my focus. You are my world.

Despite my GR friends’ positive reviews of this book, I was a little bit hesitant to pick it up, half afraid that it might be another miss of the series, that it wouldn’t be much different from the two previous ones. But it turned out to be a pleasant surprise for me! This was way better than my expectations!

I’m so happy to report that I enjoyed reading Fire in His Embrace immensely. From start to finish. Two things that impressed me the most about this installment was the story’s pace and the main couple. Unlike the previous books, this one didn’t drag on too long and there was a lot more happening than I thought, which made me eager to turn the pages to discover all about the drakoni, the Salorian, and their worlds.

Zohr and Emma were fantastic together! I loved both of them. Zohr was an absolute sweetheart and Emma was an amazing woman. I must admit that before reading her story, I got my fingers crossed hoping she would be my kind of heroine. And you know what? She didn’t fail me. Not at all! She was exactly a person I thought she would be—strong, smart, lovable, and capable.

And with that ending, gosh, now I can hardly wait to read Azar’s book! Hopefully, it will be a success like this one.

All in all, this was an enjoyable read. Really worth it!

Smelly Emma!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Narrator: 🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧
Romance: 💙💚🖤💛
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙
World building: 🌎🌍🌏🌏
Character development: 🧐😕😍😗

The heroine: Emma - she is Sasha’s friend from the previous book, Fire in his Kiss. Though in that book she was almost always unwashed and covered in deer urine to hide herself from dragons. In this book she is a highly independent and intelligent woman capable of taking care of herself in most situations.

The Hero(s): Zohr - a Drakoni male who is lured into a trap with when the Salorian, Azar and his group of bikers hang Emma’s panties on a flagpole in order to trap a dragon looking for his mate

The Story: Emma’s brother is one of the gang that is with Azar. When the bikers come across Emma, her brother insists that she come with them. She becomes the personal cook for Azar since he gets all the best foods.

Though at some point she finds that her panties were used to lure a Drakoni male and he is being held in the empty pool in the hotel they are living in and that he is chained down so he can barely move and locked up in a contraption that will decapitate him and/or destroy his wings if he shifts into dragon form. She feels responsible and is determined to free him.

I liked the small differences in this book than in some of the others in this series I have read. Of course when she first comes across Zohr, she can’t communicate with him, she is aware of what she has to do in order to connect with him and communicate.

Some of the other books went on too long where the two main characters were barely able to talk to each other. So I was happy that in this one they are able to talk (in their minds) pretty early on. I liked the narration, both Noelle Bridges and Jeremy York did terrific jobs as these characters and I am still liking this series.

Some people read books, some listen.

I'm the latter. I cannot wait for the audiobook of the next one on this series to come out so my ears can be occupied with awesomeness.

This series is awesome and I want more!

I know the next one is Amy's stories and I've read some of the reviews. It seems Ruby Dixon hasn't stopped writing great characters and story-arks to keep us fed.

I may be the only reader on Earth who loves cliffhangers and the little epilogues at the end has got me more than excited for the next installments!

After the two books (from this series) that failed to impress me, I braced myself for another disappointment but this book... this book was nothing like I expected but everything I wanted it to be.

GLORIOUS!

From the first part where Ms Dixon had added What Has Gone Before - a recap where it takes you to what happened in the first two books.

To the characters:

Zohr - WHAT. A. BABE.

Azar - Gloriously d*ckhead.

Emma - She is FURIOSA.

Right down to the epilogueS.
So much epilogueS.
So much love.
Devoured them with gusto.

Ms Dixon, this book. THIS. BOOK. IS. A. WINNER.

I liked this book more than the previous two because of the heroine, Emma!
While the other heroines were very girly, Emma is a survivor and a fighter!
Also Zorh was great! He's a shapeshifting dragon, but his inner dialogue was really good. He wanted to protect Emma, as all the other dragon-guys did in the other books, but he was not overbearing. He appreciated Emma's survival ability and was a companion without trying to smother her with protectiveness!
I'm looking forward to Azar's story! Yes, I know that he's a villain, but I'm curious to find out how RD will make him fall! LOL

- PS: If you got this far, you finished the book, right? If you are so inclined, I would love a review at your favorite review spot. If not, that's okay, too!

When Ruby asks you to do something, you do it! No questions asked! ;)

There is always so much to say about Ruby Dixon's storytelling. I have read the majority of her books, and they always impress me. I tell everyone that if she wrote a story about going to the DMV, I would read it. And I guarantee I would love it because her writing is magical! She has a knack for creating mysterious worlds and beings. Ruby can bring anything to life with her writing skills - and I'm a tad bit jealous of her for that reason.

You can read this as a standalone as Ruby was nice enough to include a WHAT HAS GONE ON BEFORE section at the beginning. However, I wholeheartedly recommend starting with the first book. You won't regret it! Promise!

(Can we talk about how gorgeous this cover is?! It's beautiful!)

Emma was nothing like I expected but everything I wanted her to be. She tells the reader how she got "captured" and how they used her to lure in Zohr. I never would expected her to do what she did to save Zohr - due to how she reacted to the drakonis in the last book. She felt responsible for what happened to him, and she wasn't going to let him down.

I think Zorh might be my favorite out of the drakoni males. He was so loving and understanding of Emma's feelings. He didn't force her to do anything she didn't want to do. Heck, he even hunted down sweets for her. Yup. He's a keeper. I loved how protective he was of her. He was the perfect mix of overbearing and supportive. *swoon* I think I have my first dragon book-boyfriend.

5 stars!

Ruby continues to excel with her writing and add more dimension to this world and the dragon's history. I loved it! This is a "safe" story with no triggers.

I know some won't like Emma but I loved her. She's a strong, independent woman, a virgin and a survivor. (She's not an argumentative bitch.) She's also a woman who has been taught by her experiences in the past that she can count on no one and thus she believes her mating to the H to be temporary until about the 70% mark. I understand how that might frustrate some especially with all her inner musings about leaving the H but I loved it. It added yet another layer to the story.

The H is yet another super delicious j/p alpha. I freaking love Ruby's H's. They are spectacular! I love how they are all about the h and focus so totally on her. The way they treat their woman is perfect. I wouldn't change a thing about them and this H is no different. Awesome series and I can't wait for the next book!

jesus. this was a hell of a lot better than the first two. however, i am not a big fan of the fact that there are jumps in time without a notice of how or why the hell there are jumps in the first place.

and that ending was bullllllshit broh.

did y'all notice that on every damn cover of this series is a man 'mounting' a woman?

This story takes place in a post apocalyptic setting where Dragons have come thru a Rift with no memories of their past life and are in a crazed state of mind till they find their mate,This is book #3 in this series and I will definitely be going back and reading the other 2 because I loved this book and characters. The dragon is so ott possessive about his mate and all he wants is her to be safe and his.I see by the teaser at the end that the "baddie" is alive and set to make mischief again.
Good sci-fi and looking forward to the next in the series.

This one, gets 5 stars.

I’m sooooooooo fucking happy that I’ve continued with the series. I was so close on giving up, but this one saved it for me.

First book, was good, could have been better, but it was good. Entertaining, different, and I’ve enjoyed it.
Second one, was a bit boring and I’ve skipped most of their sex scenes, and nothing made me love it.

I liked both MC’s from both books, but this, oh...this one takes the crown.

Zohr is by far the best of all the dragons, and my favourite.

I have finally understood how far a dragon is willing go to protect his mate, . This gave me an insight on the devotion and the unconditional love that Zohr has for Emma. I didn’t feel it in the other books, but I have felt it in this one.

’This is what I am made to do. I am her mate. It is my duty to protect her above all others. Protect the lifebearers. Protect the mother of my young..’

Someone please, give me a fucking fan to cool off!! So damn sexy!

Emma also, is my favourite from all the other female MC’s and I’ve LOVED her.

I kind of have to laugh at the mental image we present as I wheel him down the road, looking for a suitable hideout. I’m in a bra and panties and combat boots, wheeling an unconscious man down a deserted street. Life in the After is definitely never boring.

Emma is independent, strong, smart and doesn’t take crap from anyone.
She’s using her head and takes charge, even if she has a big dragon next to her, she doesn’t hide but thinks and plans and I’ve loved it!

“You’re lucky you caught him in time. I don’t know what we do to stop him.”
“I do,” I tell them. “We kill him.”
Claudia’s eyes go wide. “You’d murder someone?”
Sasha looks surprised, as well. Why are they surprised? “He’s a threat,” I tell them. “He’s evil. He has no conscience. Why wouldn’t you take him out?”
Claudia shakes her head. “I don’t. It’s just so…”
“Bloodthirsty,” Sasha whispers.
“Practical, you mean,” I correct them. “This is the After. No one’s looking out for us anymore but us. You think if we ignore Azar he’s going to just wander off and retire to raise flowers somewhere?”

Yep, this is what I’m taking about. She doesn’t just sit around and waits to be saved.

This book was more focused on the action, (and I’m finally starting to see a direction with this series), and less on them humping like rabbits. With less sex and more talk, I could see the dynamic and chemistry between them, which made it more steamy and entertaining and I’m feeling a bit sorry that is over.

I’m sceptical if I’d like the next one. I tend to believe that I won’t, not after I’ve read this one, but who knows, maybe we will get a super-duper-extra-mega-character development with Amy, which I doubt, but still, now that I see a direction with this series, I have to know how will end.

P.S. Those epilogues....

When dragons tore through a rip in the sky they destroyed the world, leaving only a relatively small population of humans to survive. Now, every human has to survive not only this harsh new world but constant attacks by dragons driven mad by something in Earth's atmosphere, so now they only know bloodlust. The only way to stop the madness? Find their mate. It's the only way for sanity to return and the bloodlust to end.

Emma knows all this, which is why she knows it's her fault that a dragon, Zohr, has been captured by the gang that holds her prisoner. Zohr caught her scent, the scent of his mate and when he came to find her, they captured him. What they captured him for? She doesn't know, she only knows she has to save him and herself before it's too late.

At the end of Fire in his Blood Emma has decided to stay so she could release Zohr rather than be rescued by Sasha and Dahk. We start Fire in his Embrace just before the end of the previous book and see how Emma and then Zohr are captured. After the first two books, which basically followed a very similar damsel in distress pattern I am glad that Dixon decided to shake it up in the third.

In this book, the dragon is the damsel and Emma has to save him. I love this mix up in the dynamics; it is Emma that claims Zohr and then rescues him from his captors. Go girl power! They then work in partnership as Zohr is injured to survive and stay on the run from the bad guys. I love seeing them work together and Emma slowly come to trust and rely on Zohr, despite her instincts telling her she is better off alone. Much like the other books in this series, the relationship is both really sweet and caring and scorching hot.

The plot thickens with the bad guy as well. You find out exactly who he is and where he came from in this book. It opens so many possibilities and I can't wait to see where Dixon will go with this, I guess I will have to wait for the next book to find out!

I love DRAGONS and I love Ruby Dixon!

I was a bit bummed that the first two books in this series weren't stellar, but I am SO happy that I continued reading because this one was the best one yet!!

Emma was fierce. She wasn't whiny or annoying like the previous two leading ladies.

Zohr was a total babe. He was so committed to Emma it was glorious.

I loooooove Azar as a villain. What a creeper.

I also liked that we got a bit more of the back story of the dragons.

This book was full of win.

I am still keen for a story with a lady dragon, I think there is potential for a lady dragon to be "subdued" by a human male, I trust you to explore the possibilities, Ruby!

Best one yet. And I am now looking forward to Amy's story. Woo!

4 Stars!!

This was, so far, my favorite book in this series. I loved Emma from the first page she was on and I was proven correct. She is such a great and bad ass FMC and takes her life and future in her own hands. I loved how she felt responsible for Zohr and how they both tried to help each other. Zohr was also such a great and sweet MMC, he’s my favorite dragon so far and I loved them both as a couple.

This whole book felt completely different from the first two books. It was fast paced from start to finish. A lot of stuff happened in this book and we get to learn so much.

The ending left me speechless. The last epilogue?! I can’t wait to read the next book.

3 1/2 "You are my mate!" Stars!

I love these stories. This one was really good, probably my fav so far. I liked Emma a lot. Zohr was great. It was entertaining. Kinda funny. Very sexy.

My only slight complaint would be that these books are a bit long for my sci-fi taste. But I still like them and will keep reading the series. Amy is up next. Happy reading!

Having aided Sasha & Dakh in escaping, Emma Arroyo finds herself all but a prisoner to her brother Boy'd MC (Motorcycle Club) gang serving as their personal chef and all around gopher. Her ongoing personal safety guaranteed only as long as she's of use to Boyd & Azar, the club's creepy mysterious leader. Escaping is her only option, but not before she rights a wrong in freeing Zohr, the chained dragon captured by the MC group.

Little does she know that in freeing Zohr, she will become his prisoner though his intentions are purely carnal.

* * *

Another installment in the Fireblood Dragon series that features alien(?) dragons transported via an atmosphere "rip" to Earth. Trapping them on our planet for reasons unknown. The ongoing series addresses the whole drama behind the who/what/when/where with the dragons while each individual installment features a romance between one of the dragons and an Earth female.

In this installment Emma & Zohr find each other and transition into a relationship and yes there is adult content scenes included. It can be premised that there is a solo dub con scene but marginally so in my mind. For the most part this story chronicles a sweet romantic tale that pulls in mystery/suspense/thriller elements to further the overall series plot.

While I totally appreciated the additional steps in filling in the origin of why dragons first appeared and why, I'm not sure I'm on board with the direction the series is taking. Good time to mention that this isn't a book that can be read as a stand alone as there is an underlying running series story plot that would be lost on anyone jumping into this book before having read previous installments. In a weird personal opinion, things are taking a bizzaro turn and not in a good way.

If it wasn't for the fact that I feel this is an important installment in the series progression, I wouldn't recommend it other than for those fans who bonded to the Emma character (such as me) and wanted to experience her story. The kicker is the teasers for Amy's story has me excited as she's more than due for her own HEA.

ps. Regarding Epilogue #1: Bring it on. I can't wait. Epilogue #2: the frosting on the cake ending. Epilogue #3: Nope. No way. Not a fan here. :(

pss: I did want to add that while MC (Motorcycle Club) characters are included in this story, I don't think, nor did I use an MC tag as I feel this tag would have been inappropriate which is why I didn't do that.

First Impressions
Fire In His Embrace was a book that kicks booty y’all. I absolutely adored everything about this book. I am not sure why I took so long reading this one especially when the ending of the second installment, leads into this book. I was really impressed with how Ruby Dixon wrote this book and seeing this unique pairing just blossom right before the witness of the reader. I do have a soft spot for a heroine who is the rescuer in the story, and she was such a strong feminine character that I felt I could relate to. She has a vibrant strength that vibrates throughout the story. Our hero has his own strengths but also unique vulnerabilities that will endear you further to him. They both have a quirky sense of humor and understand each other. They are have more in common than they first initially think beforehand. It was such a fun relationship that really blend the angst of this world building, with some sassy banter, and a plot to keep you on your toes.

Summary
This story sets off with our heroine Emma Arroyo, while hiding in a gas station, where she has created her own haven, is taken by her brother and his group of bandits. She and her brother parted ways years ago and for good reason. Her brother isn’t a good person, but she feels like she doesn’t have a choice. She ends up living with them, and being the cook for the leader who also happens to be a dragon, but one who has evil plans for them all. They use her without her knowledge, of being bait and capturing a live dragon who they keep chained in the basement of their refuge. But what Emma doesn’t expect is to form a bond to her dragon, who was captured because of her. But she knows if they can form their mating bond, they can help each other escape. What Emma doesn’t realize is how formidable their enemy is, or how fierce the connection she would form to Zohr. Zohr is determined to protect his mate no matter the cost. He knows they have an enemy and he has no memory of his past, but he believes in what he and Emma is beyond real and is determined to cultivate their bond. But they both have a enemy, who seeks to capture all dragonkin for his own purposes and may be their downfall…

I kind of have to laugh at the mental image we present as I wheel him down the road, looking for a suitable hideout. I’m in a bra and panties and combat boots, wheeling an unconscious man down a deserted street. Life in the After is definitely never boring.’

What I Loved
Fire In His Embrace is such a sexy time book and you know what you get when you pick up Ruby Dixon. But I have to say the more I read this series the more impressed I am by it. I was utterly charmed by this story and everything that this author delivers here. I couldn’t seem to get enough of this one, and it was such a fast paced listen for me. I didn’t seem to want to put this one down at all. It was utterly decadent seeing how this romance forms between Zohr and Emma. They are such a perfectly blended pairing as well. They both understand each other, both warriors and both have the same quirks of humor that others don’t completely understand. I truly adored both Zohr and Emma. Zohr is a alpha but in the way he wants to protect his mate, but also encourages her in her own fighting abilities. I love the way he wants her as his partner. Emma is fierce but also has a sweet vulnerability that will allow the reader to connect so easily to her. This pairing was a delight and we also get another piece to the puzzle on the overall reaching plot of the series. I am so intrigued to see what is in the past of these dragons and what our villain has in store moving forward.

What I Struggled With
Even though this wasn’t a top read, I definitely felt like there could have been more couple time between these two. I do think this story was too short and I know Ruby Dixon doesn’t write super long books, but I definitely felt like there could have been more inner relationship development than what was received.

The Narration
These two are the best at narrating this book and I have really loved see them do this series together. They both have such likeable voice but especially Jeremy York does a fantastic job as he has that deep baritone tone in his voice that just works so well for a dragon hero.

Overall View
Fire In His Embrace was a delectable read that I couldn’t seem to read fast enough, its a story with such thrills that are blended in with a firmly build romance that only had me eager for more in the world. Ruby Dixon definitely worked her magic with this one here.

This is probably one of the books in the series that first stood out to me because it was a little differently paced than the others, it made me laugh quite a bit . . . and first introduced Azar the morally gray villainous character I need so much more of.
